Yesterday, when I opened Netflix, I decided to watch something interesting, one of those films that makes you think, and that's when my daughters recommended the film I'm going to tell you about next. Most of the anime films I've seen have been either recommended by my daughters or through this community, but the truth is that this has allowed me to find some very interesting material, and this is definitely one of them.
Ayer que abrí Netflix decidí ver algo interesante, una de esas películas para reflexionar y fue entonces cuando mis hijas me recomendaron la película de la que les voy a hablar a continuación. La mayoría de las películas de anime que he visto han sido o por recomendación de mis hijas o por medio de esta comunidad, pero la verdad es que de esta manera he podido encontrar material muy interesante, y definitivamente este es uno de ellos.
Pom Poko is one of those films produced by the well-known Studio Ghibli that make you think about many things that happen in real life. In this case, we see a very humanized community of raccoons trying to survive in a world invaded by humans and their obsession with industrializing and urbanizing everything around them, regardless of whether they destroy nature and the animals' habitat. So the raccoons organize themselves to try to defend their home, devising increasingly crazy strategies 😄 But these aren't just any raccoons, they're tanuki (a mythological species known for their ability to change shape at will).
Pom Poko es una de esas películas producidas por el conocido Estudio Ghibli que te hacen pensar en muchas cosas que suceden en la vida real, en este caso vemos a una comunidad de mapaches muy humanizada que trata de sobrevivir en un mundo invadido por los humanos y su manía de industrializar y urbanizar todo lo que consigue a su alrededor, sin importar si destruyen la naturaleza y el hábitat de los animales, así que los mapaches se organizan para tratar de defender su hogar, ideando estrategias cada vez más descabelladas 😄 pero estos no son cualquier tipo de mapaches, se trata de Los tanukis (una especie mitológica que se caracteriza por cambiar de forma a voluntad)
Despite the humorous tone of many scenes, I think the subject matter is actually very serious. In fact, I consider it an important social critique aimed at raising awareness about deforestation and the need to protect animal habitats. Green spaces are extremely important not only for animals but also for all humans. They are the natural lungs of the earth, keeping it free from the pollution caused by industrialization and indiscriminate capitalism. All of this leads us to ask the following question: to what extent can progress be considered as such? We often call the construction of numerous buildings and housing complexes “progress,” but we forget the simple things we also need to live: animals, trees, clean air, the sound of birds. In short, I also think it is an interesting critique of coexistence, of how difficult it is for us to live with others.
A pesar del tono gracioso de muchas escenas, pienso que el tema que toca realmente es muy serio, de hecho la considero una critica social importante que va dirigida a concienciar a personas con respecto a la deforestación y al cuidado del espacio de los animales, las áreas verdes son importantísimas no solo para ellos sino también para todos los humanos, se trata de pulmones naturales de la tierra que la mantienen libre de la contaminación ocasionada por la propia industrialización y el capitalismo indiscriminado, todo esto hace que nos planteamos la siguiente pregunta ¿hasta que punto el progreso se puede considerar como tal? muchas veces llamamos "Progreso" a la construcción de numerosos edificios y complejos habitacionales, pero nos olvidamos de las cosas sencillas que también necesitamos para vivir: los animales, los árboles, el aire limpio, el sonido de las aves, en fin, creo además que es una interesante critica sobre la convivencia, lo mucho que nos cuesta convivir con otros.
That mixture of absurd situations typical of cartoons with themes from real life reminds me of magical realism, where the absurd becomes everyday. I also like how they use Japanese mythology and folklore to express ideas, in this case through tanuki. In Venezuela (my country), there are also legends that seem designed to encourage care for nature, such as El Hachador, the ceretones, and the mermaids.
Esa mezcla entre las situaciones absurdas propias de las caricaturas con los temas propios de la realidad me hacen pensar en el realismo mágico, donde lo absurdo se vuelve cotidiano, además también me gusta que usen la mitología y el folclore japonés para expresar ideas, en este caso mediante los tanukis. En Venezuela (mi país) también hay leyendas que parecen diseñadas para fomentar el cuidado de la naturaleza, como El Hachador, los ceretones o las sirenas.
I really enjoyed watching this film and its powerful message full of love and respect for the environment around us, something that I have noticed is strongly promoted by Studio Ghibli. So I highly recommend that you watch it and enjoy it as much as I did. Sending you virtual hugs and kisses 😘 🤗
De verdad disfruté mucho viendo esta película y de su poderoso mensaje lleno de amor y respeto por el entorno que nos rodea, algo que me he dado cuenta fomentan mucho los estudios Ghibli. Así que les recomiendo mucho que la vean y la disfruten tanto como yo, les envío besos y abrazos virtuales 😘 🤗

¡Ahhhh! Esta película es buenísima, estoy de acuerdo contigo, se hace mucho énfasis en el cuidado de la naturaleza y la convivencia, no es que los Tanukis no quisieran convivir con los humanos, es que los humanos estaban invadiendo su espacio.
Eso es verdad, es impresionante como el ser humano siempre está deshaciendo todo lo que encuentra a su paso, pero estos tanukis supieron como ponerles el mundo de cabeza 😄
