This is a true classic from the 90s. I remember always watching it with my brothers and nephews, and we'd laugh a lot at the antics of this family, while comparing Wednesday to my daughter (my other daughter wasn't born yet at that time). I love the eccentricities of this crazy family; we even have a family WhatsApp group with that name, haha, "The Addams Family."

Este es un verdadero clásico de los años 90, recuerdo que siempre lo veía con mis hermanos y sobrinos y nos reíamos un montón con las ocurrencias de esta familia, mientras comparábamos a Merlina con mi hija (en esa época no había nacido la otra) Me encanta las excentricidades de esta loca familia, hasta tenemos un grupo familiar de whatsaap con ese nombre jaja "Los locos Addams"

It's something of a dark comedy, already considered a cult classic. This film centers on Lucas's reunion with his family, but due to certain behaviors, the family begins to suspect that he's an imposter sent by a lawyer with the intention of stealing the Addams fortune. And although it's actually the real Lucas, his actions raise Morticia's suspicions.

Viene siendo algo así como una comedia negra ya considerada un clásico de culto. Esta película se centra en el reencuentro de Lucas con su familia, pero debido a ciertas actitudes la familia empieza a sospechar que se trate de un impostor enviado pro algún abogado con la intención de robar la fortuna de los Addams, y aunque en realidad se trata del auténtico Lucas, su manera de actuar genera sospechas en Morticia.

It has a dark, absurd, and often physical style of humor, but it works quite well for its style and the film's narrative; that's what makes it truly funny. Furthermore, it's striking that despite being so eccentric, making strange comments, and living practically in isolation, people (those around them) see them as crazy but at the same time, in a way, normalize their behavior. After all, nobody calls the police about the strange noises coming from that old Victorian Gothic mansion. 😄

Tiene un estilo de humor negro, absurdo y en muchas ocasiones físico pero funciona bastante bien para su estilo y la narrativa de la película, es lo que la hace verdaderamente graciosa, además, llama poderosamente la atención el hecho de que a pesar de ser tan excéntricos, de hacer comentarios raros y vivir prácticamente aislados, la gente (los demás a su alrededor) los ven como chiflados pero a su vez de cierta manera normalizan la conducta, bueno, nadie llama a la policía por los ruidos raros que provienen de esa vieja mansión Gótica victoriana 😄

But something that stands out here is that the Addams Family contrasts sharply with the typical "perfect" American family, especially those of their social class. They normalize many behaviors that would be considered questionable, they let the children play violently, they find beauty in things that others would consider horrible, but they still value loyalty, unity, and family love above all else, which makes them even more different from the typical hypocrisy of wealthy families.

Pero algo que llama mucho la atención aquí es que la Familia Addams contrasta notablemente con la típica familia estadounidense "perfecta" en especial las de su clase social, ellos normalizan muchas conductas que se considerarían cuestionables, dejan que los niños jueguen de manera violenta, encuentran belleza en cosas que otros considerarían horribles, pero aún así valoran la lealtad, la unión y el amor familiar por encima de todo, lo que hace que se diferencien aún más de la típica hipocresía de las familias ricas.

Of all the characters in this family, I have to highlight Gomez, brilliantly portrayed by Raúl Juliá, since he brought a lot of drama to his performance, which injected an extra touch of madness, making his character seem more erratic, haha

De todos los personajes de esta familia yo tengo que destacar a Homero, interpretado grandiosamente por Raúl Juliá, ya que él le imprimió mucho dramatismo a su interpretación, lo cuál le inyectó un toque de locura extra, hacía que su personaje se viera más errático, jaja

I believe it has endured to this day (even with more and more versions being released) because it is a fun and endearing story that promotes the idea that being different doesn't have to be bad, that not having the same tastes or preferences as everyone else makes you different but doesn't necessarily mean that you are wrong, and with this I think it greatly promotes individuality and the identity of each person.

Yo creo que se ha mantenido hasta el día de hoy (incluso sacando cada vez más versiones) por ser una historia divertida y entrañable, que fomenta la idea de que ser diferente no tiene porque ser malo, que no tengas los mismos gustos o preferencias que el resto te hace diferente pero no significa obligatoriamente que estés mal y con esto creo que fomenta mucho la individualidad y la identidad de cada quién.
