I do tend to go on and get involved in details. My poor kids when they were growing up couldn't get away from it :))

Sounds like my kids! I'd call yours "lucky," blessed, not poor. :)
Mine got annoyed with me for bringing home books full of Hubble telescope photos.
"Stellar nurseries!" I exclaimed.
No interest. -_- Hey, I tried.

In my case it was field guides... snakes, birds, insects. I must admit both kids did develop an interest in science. Maybe it wasn't all wasted time.
