Letting Go Of Screen Clutter

I used to be that girl who couldn’t let go of her phone. Even when I wasn’t doing anything important, I held onto it as if it were my life support machine. Then came my late-night movie habit oh my goodness, I had to literally beg myself to sleep or take a break. Watching movies became an addiction.

Being a student, it wasn’t easy to keep up with this habit and still focus on school activities. I had to restrategize. The first step I took was deleting all my movie apps. Now, if I want to watch a movie, I either have to download it with my data or stream it online. The thought of spending my data just for entertainment instantly reduced my urge to watch. Slowly but surely, my screen time began to drop.
With that came an unexpected discovery time. Suddenly, I had time to read at night, to rest, and to simply breathe. I started going to bed earlier and waking up with renewed strength and focus. It felt like I had cleared a space in my life that technology once occupied, and in that space, peace quietly settled.
Reducing my screen time didn’t happen overnight. It took self-discipline and a conscious decision to focus on what truly mattered. Through this process, I learned that minimalism isn’t just about having fewer things; it’s about intentional living keeping only what adds value and letting go of what drains your energy. Whether it’s physical possessions or habits, minimalism is about creating space for clarity, peace, and purpose.
Letting go of my screen clutter showed me that I wasn’t gaining anything from being online all day. Instead, I was losing time, focus, and rest. Now, I feel lighter, more present, and more in control of my time. Minimalism, to me, is that quiet freedom that comes when you finally stop letting distractions run your life.
