For me, a good movie is one that leaves a teaching or conveys a message that has made us reflect and this is exactly what Coco conveys. This film released by 2 of the major producers Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios, is from 2017, was written by Adrian Molina and Matthew Aldrich, scored by Michael Giacchino under the direction of Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina himself.

Para mí, una buena película es aquella que deja una enseñanza o que nos transmite un mensaje que nos ha e reflexionar y esto es justamente lo que Coco nos transmite. Este filme lanzado por 2 de las grandes productoras Walt Disney Studios y Pixar Animation Studios, es del año 2017, fue escrita por Adrián Molina y Matthew Aldrich, musicalizada por Michael Giacchino bajo la dirección de Lee Unkrich y el mismo Adrián Molina.

The film takes place on the night of the Day of the Dead, a Mexican tradition that consists of honoring the memory of loved ones with a banquet and an altar with photographs.

According to the plot of the film, if the photograph is not placed on the altar, the souls of the deceased will not be able to come to the celebration to visit their living relatives. And if no one remembers them, the souls cease to exist.

Miguel belongs to a family of shoemakers who hate music. The boy feels that music is in his veins and decides to secretly participate with his grandmother in a talent contest held in the town square. Not finding a borrowed guitar, he decides to take the one from the grave of his favorite singer Ernesto de la Cruz. When he has the guitar in his hands and plays a few notes, he is transported to the world of the dead along with his stray dog Dante. To get out of there he requires the blessing of one of his relatives, so he decides to look for his. Great-grandmother Imelda.

The great-grandmother agrees to give him the blessing but it comes with the restriction of never playing music again. Miguel refuses to accept this as he loves to play the guitar and sing. Then by a mistake, the boy believes that his great-grandfather is the one of the cross and sets out on a quest to ask the blessing to the only musician in the family.

On the way he meets Hector, a musician who is being forgotten by his family and decides to help Miguel on the condition that he will put the photo on his family altar so as not to disappear.

Miguel discovers, along with his family, that they hate music because his great-grandfather abandons Imelda with his little daughter Coco without giving any explanation.

La película se desarrolla en la noche del día de los muertos, tradición mexicana que consiste en honrar la memoria de los seres queridos con un banquete y un altar con las fotografías.

Según la trama de la película, si no se coloca la fotografía en el altar las almas de los difuntos no podrán venir a la celebración a visitar a los familiares vivos. Y si nadie los recuerda, las almas dejan de existir.

Miguel, pertenece a una familia de zapateros que odian la música. El niño siente que la música está en sus venas y decide participar a escondidas de su abuela en un concurso de talentos que hacen en la plaza del pueblo. Al no encontrar una guitarra prestada, decide tomar la de la tumba de su cantante favorito Ernesto de la Cruz. Cuando tiene la guitarra entre sus manos y toca unas notas, es transportado al mundo de los muertos junto con su perro callejero Dante. Para salir de allí requiere la bendición de uno de sus familiares, así que decide buscar a su. Bisabuela Imelda.

La bisabuela acepta darle la bendición pero viene acompañada de la restricción de nunca más volver a tocar música. Miguel se niega a aceptar esto ya que adora tocar la guitarra y cantar. Entonces por un error, el niño cree que su bisabuelo es el propio de la cruz y emprende su busqueda para pedirle la bendición al único músico de la familia.

En el camino conoce a Héctor, un músico que esta siendo olvidado por su familia y decide ayudar a Miguel con la condición de que este pondrá la foto en su altar familiar para no desaparecer.

Miguel descubre, junto a su familia, que odian la música porque su bisabuelo abandona a Imelda con su pequeña hija Coco sin dar ninguna explicación.

My favorite part is when Miguel discovers that Hector is his real great-grandfather and that he was murdered by his best friend and fellow musician Ernesto de la Cruz. He receives his great-grandmother's blessing and runs to tell his old grandmother Coco not to forget his father. And together they make Hector's soul come alive and with the original songs that Coco keeps from his father they make everyone recognize the real musician and forget the phony Ernesto.

I love the songs that accompany the scenes of this movie. How we can see the traditions of Mexican culture. And above all the reflection it leaves us with on family reconciliation and the ability to forgive.

Mi parte favorita es cuando Miguel descubre que Héctor es su verdadero bisabuelo y que fue asesinado por por su mejor amigo y colega músico Ernesto de la Cruz. Recibe la bendición de su bisabuela y corre a decirle a su viejita abuela Coco que no olvide a su padre. Y juntos hacen que el alma de Héctor cobre fuerza y con las canciones originales que Coco conserva de su padre hacen que todos reconozcan al verdadero músico y olviden al farsante de Ernesto.

Me encantan las canciones que acompañan las escenas de esta película. Como podemos ver las tradiciones de la cultura mexicana. Y sobre todo la reflexión que nos deja en la reconciliación familiar y la capacidad de perdonar.
