This 2006 comedy, directed by David Frankel, stars Meryl Streep as the evil Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Adrian Grenier, Simon Baker. The story is based on the book by Lauren Weisberger who wrote her own experiences and ended up making this play as a satire of the fashion industry. Personally, it is not only this industry that has this atmosphere, as most of the big companies have a rough and even humiliating treatment of their employees.

Esta comedia del año 2006, gue dirigida por David Frankel, con un elenco de primera Meryl Streep que interpreta a la malvada Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway quien da vida a Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Adrian Grenier, Simon Baker. La historia está basada en el libro de Lauren Weisberger que escribió sus vivencias propias y terminó haciendo esta obra como una sátira a la industria de la moda. En lo personal no solamente esta industria tiene este ambiente, ya que la mayoría de las grandes empresas tienen un trato aspero e incluso humillante con sus empleados.

The Plot

Andy achieves the dream of a lifetime by landing the position of assistant to the editor-in-chief of a major fashion magazine. But Andy's superb résumé and administrative skills are belittled by her boss, the despicable and humiliating Miranda Priestly, who takes advantage of the girl to do back-breaking work both in and out of the office for the benefit of Miranda and her family.

Over time Miranda's calls become tormenting to Andy's friends and family, as Miranda seems to know no boundaries and off hours for her assistant. Mistakenly, Andy is happy with Miranda's calls and grueling schedules, until it comes to affect her romantic relationship, her relationship with her friends, and she realizes that Miranda simply doesn't need her specifically but anyone who can fulfill her desires.

La trama

Andy logra cumplir el sueño de su vida al lograr el puesto de asistente de la jefa de redacción de una importante revista de moda. Pero el currículum magnífico de Andy y sus capacidades en el área administrativa serán menospreciadas por su jefa, la déspota y humilladora Miranda Priestly que se aprovecha de la muchacha para que haga tareas agotadoras tanto dentro de la oficina como fuera de ella para beneficio de Miranda y su familia.

Con el tiempo las llamadas de Miranda se vuelven tormentosas para los amigos y la familia de Andy, ya que Miranda parece no conocer los límites y las horas de descanso de sus asistente. Equivocadamente, Andy se siente feliz con las llamadas y horarios extenuantes de Miranda, hasta que llega a afectar su relación sentimental, la relación con sus amigos y se da cuenta que Miranda simplemente no la necesita a ella específicamente sino a cualquiera que pueda cumplir con sus deseos.

From Andy I was able to learn, since I am an administrator and in my working life I have come across several bosses like Miranda, that we should not let work absorb us totally, no matter how much we like our work and no matter how good we are at performing our assigned tasks, we should set aside time for rest and time for ourselves, sharing with family and friends.

De Andy pude aprender, ya que soy administradora y en mi vida laboral me he topado con varios jefes como Miranda, que no debemos dejar que el trabajo nos absorba totalmente, por mucho que nos guste nuestro trabajo y por muy buenos que seamos en el desempeño de las tareas asignadas, debemos separar el tiempo de descanso y tiempo para nosotros, compartir con la familia y amigos.

Another thing I learned from this film was that we should not let anyone change us. Our way of dressing, thinking and acting is something personal and unique, we can't let anything, much less anyone, believe they have the power to change us. It is sad but it happens more often than we think.

I remember my first boss, he used to tell me that I worked for him so I had to defend his interests. And I never let myself be manipulated, at the time of calculating the payment of the salary of the employees I added up to the last second that they had worked in the company and that caused annoyance to my boss.

Otra cosa que pude aprender de esta película, fue que no debemos dejar que nadie nos cambie. Nuestra forma de vestir, pensar y actuar es algo personal y es único, no podemos dejar que nada ni mucho menos nadie se crea con el poder de cambiarnos. Es triste pero pasa más seguido de lo que pensamos.

Recuerdo mi primer jefe, me decía que yo trabajaba para él por lo tanto debía defender sus intereses. Y nunca me dejé manipular, al momento de calcular el pago del salario de los empleados sumaba hasta el último segundo que habían trabajado en la empresa y eso le causaba molestias a mi jefe.
