Life at times is not fair to some people. While some live their life to fullness, others are left to suffer for what they have no control over, like the people with disabilities (PWDs). Without knowing the reason for being the way they are, they often live to suffer for being the way they are. Not only are they deprived of several things, they always fall prey to a lot of unfortunate events such as bully and mockery by those that ought to have protected them. While many have been consumed by the various stones thrown at them by this wicked world, only few have actually overcome and made their mark on this world. Just like other PWDs, this was the fate of Mike in the movie TRIUMPH.

Mike is a collage student that dreams of being a professional wrestler. However his dream seems to be impossible due to his disability. Mike suffers from a medical condition called cerebral palsy — a condition responsible for motor disabilities in children. It simply means the inability for one to move his body properly. He can neither stand nor walk properly. With a strong will towards his dream, Mike lacks the basic skill — stamina, needed to be a wrestler. In fact a lot things were against the actualisation of Mike's dream.

Mike's involvement in what he loves has never been a source of joy to him, instead, it has worsened his condition. But in the midst of all that, giving up has never been an option for him.

I consider this movie my favourite sport movie for so many reasons. This movies teaches one how our conditions sometimes cannot stop us from pursuing our dreams. Mike never let his condition stop him from pursuing his dream. Knowing that he's different from others, instead of giving up, Mike only put in more efforts.

My favourite scene in the movie was when Mike went to enroll in a school in the new neighborhood that he just moved in with his father. On walking up to the senior registrar, she wanted to register in in the class of those needing special attention, but Mike refused, stating that he is qualified to be in the senior class. Mike met with the head teacher to complain to him. On seeing Mike's condition, the head teacher reiterated how challenging it would be for Mike. But Mike responded saying " I like challenges."

Just like he said, Mike lived his life overcoming many challenges — proving many doubters wrong. With the help of the Physical Education Teacher, Mr. Cutting, Mike made a commendable progress, that resulting in him representing his school in their wrestling competition.

This interesting movie casts like MJ Mitte — as Mike, Colton Haynes — as Jeff (Mike's wrestling mate and friend), and Terrence Howard — as coach cutting. The movie was written by Michael D. Coffey and directed by Brett Leonard.

It is really amazing when one never allow his inabilities to define him, Mike boldness in this movie is outstanding and one of a kind.

I am glad he make it to the top in his dream as a wrestler in his school.

Darn good write-up. I am not familiar with this film, however it has Terrance Howard in it. He is a fine actor, and have seen him in several films including Iron Man (as Rhodes) and Redtails (about the Tuskegee Airmen). He is consistent in turning in solid performances, and I am sure this is another good film for him.
