When I first saw this movie in 2017, I could say that it was the scariest movie I had seen at that time and for a number of reasons I can still appreciate it. This movie apart from being a supernatural horror film actually tells a lot of other things in one story, typical for a Stephen King Adaptation film and for sure this is one that can be boldly be required to have been adapted right.
Seeing the film years later, actually didn't feel all that scary but I was able to enjoy some humor I'd missed before and appreciate a lot of other things that clearly had been incorporated in the movie that I was still a too little to understand. Everyone hates bullies, atleast we're all made to believe that bullying is bad and yet IT is still a big part of our everyday lives. Whether we admit it or not there's always been that someone or something that scared the shit out of us. Some played with our emotions, some played with our sanity, others our feelings and left us all in the cold shivering.
I could feel a certain pain after watching it again because I could certainly relate to it. Growing up I'd been scared, that fear shaped me into who I'd become. I had always been scared that I'll never be manly enough for my father and I certainly was scared that I'll not be able to get out of the poverty I'd grown in and each time I thought of the future, it always weighed me down. Fear isn't something that any one would ever want to feel and a lot of us have been tied down too scared to face our fears. It doesn't have to be a physical looking bully, other things beat us up and leave us bleeding begging to be saved.
I like how everything most especially fear was portrayed in this movie and with the Losers Club being at the center of it all. Apart from the humor that comes with young kids lives, it was both relatable and very entertaining. I couldn't help but notice how well this children had bonded, and it surely felt too real to be scripted. IT is a masterpiece in this genre and surely earned a point for being original. We'd be used to seeing those horror that came with a scary looking ghost or an inanimate object coming to life. It / Pennywise The Dancing Clown was just a definition of fun mixed with psychopathy and as time went on he began to scare the tits out of me.
This movie was released on the 8th of September, 2017 and runs for 135 minutes. The film was directed by Andy Muschietti and written by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman. It was produced by New Line Cinema alongside KatzSmith Productions, Lin Pictures, and Vertigo Entertainment. It is the first of a two-part adaptation of the 1986 novel of the same name by Stephen King. Starring Bill Skarsgård, Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, Nicholas Hamilton, and Jackson Robert Scott.
IT (chapter one)
The movie starts with a young boy Bill Denbrough who crafts a paper boat for his six year old brother Georgie. Bill who didn't want to play with his brother let's him sail the boat along the rainy streets of the town Derry. Georgie sails his boat only to have it washed down a drain. His attempt to retrieve the boat crafted by his brother leads him to meet a clown in the drain who entices the boy to come closer and rips off his had before dragging him into the sewer.
With the way the movie started, I was sure that it was going to be something to send chills running through my spine. With the early parts of the movie, you could already anticipate that this wasn't the normal type of horror every one was used to watching and the psychopathic laughter of the clown actually was unsettling.
The following summer Bill still convinced that his brother is alive rallies up his friends Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak, and Stan Uris to help him find his missing brother. But then they have problems of their own as they face real life bullies, Henry Bowers, Belch Huggins, Patrick Hockstetter, and Victor Criss. Ben too their new classmate is also attacked by this bullies because he's chubby.
Here we start to see the movie portray what kids go through in their everyday but then apart from kids, grown up too have bullies of their own dressed differently and with this the movie start to take shape as each of them would have to come together to become stronger.
Beverly Marsh, a girl bullied over her rumored promiscuity, also joins the group and both boys Bill and Ben develop feelings for her. Each of them starts to see strange things that scares them and Penny the Dancing clown feeds of fear and this brings him closer and closer to them as he haunts them, feeding off their fear to a point where he'll eventually feed of them.
Would they be able to get over their fear? Would Penny have his fill feeding off little kids? You'll have to find out.
My opinion
The movie did really well to bring to life the 80s setting, with the dressing, hairstyles and songs. I enjoyed seeing how they went back in time and still took us with them. Apart from the horror that comes with this movie I loved the humor, we could see that with the way the kids spoke and also in some of their experiences and encounters. I loved how after experiencing a good laugh what follows is something that actually scares the shit out of you and that is something to be appreciated.
It was a really good story, and the director did really well adapting a Stephen King novel. If the characters had been a lot older I don't think we could very much have appreciated what the story tried to portray. Each kid having his own problem, one of an abusive father, one of neglecting parents, one of a lying mother, one of a bullying father, and the list goes on. The society we live in is one filled with broken children and broken adults and the circle keeps going.
If this movie had been created recently I'm sure a lot more controversy would have been added and it wouldn't have been too enjoyable. I like how each cast was developed and story told in bits to make you appreciate them more. Talking about the casts, I can say for sure that they did pretty great themselves. I loved how they fell into character and actually were one with them. The clown on the other hand wasn't scary in that sense but he just gave you the chills with his cunningness and with the way he enjoyed toying with others. The casts all were top notched and they helped bring this movie to life.
The filming was also very good, with very good lighting, I didn't have to squint my eyes to try to see better, the angles of the camera was well placed. It just was done in a manner that you'll appreciate the beauty of the 80s with cars that frequented that time and bikes and so on.
I can't say I have a Favourite scene because they're a number of scenes I really enjoyed seeing. But I loved the part where they went to confront the clown and each one had his turn pounding him and feeding him back his fear, I cannot tell you the amount of satisfaction I derived from that scene.
Overall I'll say it's a good movie, a very good first movie and one perfect for the Halloween genre. You should see it if you havn't, I recommend you see it with the lights off and at midnight, haha. I'll give it an eight out of ten rating.

Cuando vi por primera vez esta película en 2017, podría decir que fue la película más aterradora que había visto en ese momento y por una serie de razones todavía puedo apreciarla. Esta película aparte de ser una película de terror sobrenatural en realidad cuenta muchas otras cosas en una sola historia, típica de una película de Adaptación de Stephen King y de seguro esta es una de las que se puede exigir audazmente que haya sido bien adaptada.
Al ver la película años más tarde, en realidad no me sentí tan asustado, pero pude disfrutar de un poco de humor que me había perdido antes y apreciar un montón de otras cosas que claramente se habían incorporado en la película y que yo todavía era demasiado pequeño para entender. Todo el mundo odia a los acosadores, al menos nos han hecho creer que el acoso escolar es malo y, sin embargo, **es una parte importante de nuestra vida cotidiana. Lo admitamos o no, siempre ha habido ese alguien o algo que nos ha asustado. Algunos han jugado con nuestras emociones, otros con nuestra cordura, otros con nuestros sentimientos y nos han dejado a todos tiritando de frío.
Pude sentir cierto dolor después de verla de nuevo porque ciertamente podía identificarme con ella. Al crecer había tenido miedo, ese miedo me moldeó en lo que me había convertido. Siempre he tenido miedo de no ser lo suficientemente hombre para mi padre y ciertamente tenía miedo de no ser capaz de salir de la pobreza en la que había crecido y cada vez que pensaba en el futuro, siempre me pesaba. El miedo no es algo que nadie quiera sentir nunca y muchos de nosotros hemos estado atados, demasiado asustados para enfrentarnos a nuestros miedos. No tiene por qué ser un matón de aspecto físico, otras cosas nos golpean y nos dejan sangrando suplicando que nos salven.
Me gusta cómo todo, especialmente el miedo, fue retratado en esta película y con el Club de los Perdedores siendo el centro de todo. Aparte del humor que conlleva la vida de los niños, fue muy fácil de entender y muy entretenida. No pude evitar darme cuenta de lo bien que se compenetraron estos niños, y seguramente se sintió demasiado real para ser un guión. IT es una obra maestra en este género y seguramente se ganó un punto por ser original. Estábamos acostumbrados a ver esos horrores que venían con un fantasma de aspecto aterrador o un objeto inanimado que cobraba vida. It / Pennywise El Payaso Bailarín era simplemente una definición de diversión mezclada con psicopatía y con el paso del tiempo empezó a dar miedo.

IT (capítulo uno)
La película comienza con un niño Bill Denbrough que hace un barco de papel para su hermano Georgie de seis años. Bill, que no quería jugar con su hermano, le deja navegar el barco por las lluviosas calles de la ciudad de Derry. Georgie navega su barco sólo para que sea arrastrado por una alcantarilla. Su intento de recuperar el barco fabricado por su hermano le lleva a encontrarse con un payaso en la alcantarilla que atrae al niño para que se acerque y le arranca su tenía antes de arrastrarlo a la cloaca.
Con el comienzo de la película, estaba seguro de que iba a ser algo que me provocaría escalofríos. Con las primeras partes de la película, ya se podía anticipar que este no era el tipo de terror normal que todos estaban acostumbrados a ver y la risa psicópata del payaso era realmente inquietante.
El verano siguiente, Bill sigue convencido de que su hermano está vivo y reúne a sus amigos Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak y Stan Uris para que le ayuden a encontrar a su hermano desaparecido. Pero entonces tienen sus propios problemas al enfrentarse a los matones de la vida real, Henry Bowers, Belch Huggins, Patrick Hockstetter y Victor Criss. También Ben, su nuevo compañero de clase, es atacado por estos matones porque es gordito.
Aquí empezamos a ver que la película retrata lo que los niños pasan en su día a día, pero además de los niños, los adultos también tienen sus propios matones vestidos de forma diferente y con esto la película empieza a tomar forma ya que cada uno de ellos tendrá que unirse para ser más fuerte.
Beverly Marsh, una chica acosada por su rumoreada promiscuidad, también se une al grupo y ambos chicos, Bill y Ben, desarrollan sentimientos por ella. Cada uno de ellos comienza a ver cosas extrañas que los asustan y Penny, el payaso bailarín, se alimenta del miedo y esto lo acerca cada vez más a ellos, ya que los persigue, alimentándose de su miedo hasta un punto en el que acabará alimentándose de ellos.
¿Serán capaces de superar su miedo? ¿Penny se saciará alimentándose de niños pequeños? Habrá que averiguarlo.
Mi opinión
La película ha hecho muy bien en revivir la ambientación de los 80, con la vestimenta, los peinados y las canciones. Me ha gustado ver cómo han retrocedido en el tiempo y aún así nos han llevado con ellos. Aparte del horror que conlleva esta película me encantó el humor, lo pudimos ver con la forma de hablar de los chicos y también en algunas de sus vivencias y encuentros. Me encantó como después de experimentar una buena carcajada lo que sigue es algo que realmente te asusta y eso es algo que se agradece.
Fue una historia muy buena y el director lo hizo muy bien adaptando una novela de Stephen King. Si los personajes hubieran sido mucho más mayores no creo que se hubiera podido apreciar mucho lo que la historia intentaba retratar. Cada niño tiene su propio problema, uno de un padre abusivo, uno de padres negligentes, uno de una madre mentirosa, uno de un padre acosador, y la lista sigue. La sociedad en la que vivimos está llena de niños rotos y adultos rotos, y el círculo continúa.
Si esta película hubiera sido creada recientemente, estoy seguro de que se habría añadido mucha más controversia y no habría sido demasiado agradable. Me gusta cómo se ha desarrollado cada reparto y se ha contado la historia a trozos para que los aprecies más. Hablando de los elencos, puedo decir con seguridad que ellos mismos lo hicieron muy bien. Me encantó cómo se metieron en el personaje y fueron realmente uno con ellos. El payaso, por otra parte, no daba miedo en ese sentido, pero te daba escalofríos con su astucia y con la forma en que disfrutaba jugando con los demás. Todos los actores eran de primera categoría y ayudaron a dar vida a esta película.
La filmación también fue muy buena, con muy buena iluminación, no tuve que entrecerrar los ojos para tratar de ver mejor, los ángulos de la cámara estaban bien colocados. Simplemente se hizo de una manera que se aprecia la belleza de los años 80 con los coches que frecuentaban esa época y las motos y demás.
No puedo decir que tenga una escena favorita porque hay varias escenas que realmente disfruté viendo. Pero me encantó la parte en la que fueron a enfrentarse al payaso y cada uno tuvo su turno para golpearlo y devolverle el miedo, no puedo decir la cantidad de satisfacción que me produjo esa escena.
En general diré que es una buena película, una muy buena primera película y una perfecta para el género de Halloween. Deberías verla si no lo has hecho, te recomiendo que la veas con las luces apagadas y a medianoche, jaja. Le doy un 8 sobre 10 de calificación.

"IT" is one of my favorite horror films. The horror and madness is just something that you wouldn't expect. The movie started so chill until the boy's arm was ripped off and he was taken away. That scene definitely was not expected because he was just a kid but that made me realize that the story could go anyway. I think it takes courage to make a movie like this because of what the public would say about it.
The young cast did very well. I just love how they were able to conquer their fears and beat the biggest bully they faced. Now that's what I call a Loser's Club😆
I swer, I didn't want to spoil it ..I wanted those who havn't seen it to really enjoy that part because it's insane and psychopathic...that sort of starting gives you the chills and you're left wondering what horror is waiting for you...phew ..surely would put you on your toes...
Their dialog always did it for me and their reference to Eddie's mother was always something to laugh at ,😂😂...yhhh..good thing they were able to stand up to their fears...Nice club, certainly one I'd choose over Barca, hope you're not a Barcelona fan😂😂😂😂

Sinceramente al empezar de ver esta película la quité, no sé por qué, y desde ahí no la he puesto más. La película vieja si la Vi, porque en aquel momento estaba muy enganchada de esta historia, ya que este es uno de mis tres libros favoritos en el mundo. 💜
Me cuesta creer que una historia así pueda adaptarse bien como película porque es que afff son tantas cosas... Y si más que una historia de terror es algo más... Que llega al corazón.

Me pregunto por qué no pudiste verla , es una obra maestra para una película de terror..es genial ver que leíste el libro, la película en realidad se siente muy diferente porque se harán algunos cambios para ayudar a que realmente encaje en el universo cinematográfico.
Si, es dificil adaptar una buena historia como esta en una pelicula...pero esta pelicula realmente hizo un buen trabajo adaptando el libro...creo que deberias verla si puedes...solo trata de ser abierto, te parecerá muy diferente ya que has leido el libro.. Gracias por tu comentario ❤️

Tienes razón, a mí también me gustó mucho el hecho de que se mezclara de alguna forma en el horror con el humor en esta película, no es algo que suceda todo el tiempo a lo largo de la trama, pero sí hay momentos en que como espectadores nos reímos y luego nos asustamos. Con respeto a la escena que describiste donde cada uno de ellos se enfrenta al payaso, a mi también me gustó, me recuerda mucho a los boggarts, criaturas descritas en el universo de Harry Potter como seres perversos que toman la forma de tus peores miedos.
This adaptation of King's novel is good, I remembered the old adaptation I saw some time ago on VHS, but in this one they have also done a good job. That clown is scary, by the way, some people have a phobia of clowns and I think most kids when they see a clown for the first time get scared hahaha, I remember being a kid, the first time I saw a clown I got a little scared, but then I got over it and I started to like everything scary, hence my preference for horror.
Yeah...even if I didn't get to see the first adaptation..i could appreciate this one a lot for so many reasons...I still don't get why clowns are supposed to fun loving and enjoyable because to me everything about them is scary and I was quite scared of them as a child too... didn't go anywhere near them ..I guess it added to why this movie really got to me,haha..yeah @jcrodriguez I can relate to you in so many ways
Esta película es perfecta; recuerdo al momento no tanto del casting, sino al mostrar la primera imagen de Pennywise en dónde muchas personas no estuvieron muy convencidos del payaso, pero al ver el primer trailer, creo que desde ese momento todo se salió de control y más expectativas aumentaron notablemente y lo mejor fue que al ver el film superaron toda opinión que se había creado sobre ese film y creo que junto a Carrie, The mist y El Resplandor (a pesar de que Stephen la odió),todas son parte del grupo exclusivo de de producciones bien hechas basadas de historias de King.
Siempre he dicho que el cast de los chicos fue muy bueno y sin ellos, ese film no se hubiera convertido en el éxito que fue.
Hace poco la volví a ver, me pareció muy buena, tienes un buen toque terrorífico con matices de humor con respecto a los chicos. También pude ver el capitulo 2, no la terminé de ver porque la pasaron muy tarde en la tv. Como siempre, por lo poco que pude ver, el capítulo 1 supera al segundo. Ya saben lo que dicen, las segundas partes nunca son buenas.

Recuerdo que ví esta película en el cine y me aburrió demasiado 😬 No me dió ni un poquito de terror, pero debo decir que las actuaciones estuvieron muy bien, tanto del payaso como el grupo de niños. Tenía muchas espectativas con esta trama, de verdad, pero bueno, no nos puede gustar todo siempre...
