It had really been a while I saw a Japanese animation movie. Since the last episode of Demon Slayer I had hoped I would be able to continue as a new anime covert. But I didn't really have the time to go download most of these animes and I had almost forgotten I was an anime lover until my roommate came back with a big small on his face. He intimated me that he'd seen that they'd been an Anime party held in port harcourt and he was lucky enough to discover that some the attendees were guys he just met at his new work place.

They got talking and they actually said they were making plans to create a small community of anime lovers over here. Without wasting much time, they ensure he was blessed with different seasons from different anime movies. I was excited, there was a lot to pick from but the moment I heard the name Jujutsu Kaisen I knew immediately that I was going to see that first and then I embark on the journey of seeing it. Funny enough, I hadn't seen any trailer or even the main movie but I was sure I'd the name Jujutsu Kaisen somewhere.

Jujutsu Kaisen

So far so good I've seen some episodes and I must say it's quite captivating. The movie starts with a overly strong protagonist Yuji Itadori who finds himself loosing his grandfather. The old man leaves him with two messages, "help others always" so that you'll die "surrounded by people". We see the movie build up from here and even though his grandfather's death isn't as gruesome as you'll see in a lot of animes to kickstart the pain and begining of pending challenges for the protagonist. It still gives Itadori a very big burden to carry as he's now caught up in the web of helping others.

Then just like the anime Bleach, they introduce monsters in form of Curses formed from negative emotions emanated by humans. Like hollows, these curses are strong and aim at harming humans. With the introduction of these curses, the action takes place immediately and that's what actually catches my attention the most. Instead of dry dialogue that'll take me time to read through the subtitle. They go through the process of introduction these creatures and taking time to explain how they're formed and how they progress.

Yuji gets to meet a Jujutsu Sorcerer Megumi Fushiguro who explains to Yuji that Yuji's friends at the Occult Club attracted Curses to their school when they went on to unsealed a rotten finger talisman which Yuji ends up swallowing to protect Megumi Fushiguro and his friends, and also becoming host to a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna. We then see the whole plot begin to build up as it is discovered that Yuji can actually suppress Sukuna.

Then Yuji is taken to join the Jujutsu High school with Satoru Gojo as his teacher. There he makes friends and encounters more danger. I really can't wait to see where the whole story goes and how well they can surprise me and at the same time turn this series into a masterpiece, I guess I'll have to finish the first 24 episodes first.

My own opinion so far

This Japanese Manga series directed by Sunghoo Park, written and illustrated by Gege Akutami has actually been pretty great so far. I've already taken a liking to the character Yuji as we see him grow from a young man who had no idea of the happenings around him until his first encounter with a curse to being the host of one of the greatest evil Sorcerers alive. I like sukuna's wit and nonchalantness, I can't wait to see him go full beast mode and actually become the type of antagonist any anime fan would wish for. I feel he has a lot of action to offer us and I just can't wait to see him start putting his cunning into place. The character is pretty strong and I like the fact that his powers aren't too over-exaggerated yet.

Another character I can't get over is Satoru Gojo, I love the way he jokes a lot and still carries so much power. We can also see how great the animation design is with the setting really coming to live with the colors. The soundtrack is on point and it goes extra when there's a big fight happening and it leaves you with so much suspense thinking what's about to happen next.

I know I might have been anime starved and might be a little to excited but I cannot see any thing completely wrong with this series yet. They're certainly unserious moments but then what follows is straight way action and you're eager to know where it all leads. I hope I don't actually get disappointed at the end.
