RRR : Movie Review | Fast paced and another Indian masterpiece

It really has been a long long time I saw an Indian movie. I remember the times when they used to really be a thing in this part of the world. Movies like the three Idiots really left us with goosebumps and a lot more. I was starting to be a big fan of the indian franchise, the rich culture, the display through dances and also the good stories they told. If there was a rival it had only been rivalled by Korean Movies. K-drama and Bollywood movies used to be a thing for a while until, I don't know what happened, I'm guessing Netflix took over and some more English films.
A tale between fire and water is one that has dated back for ages. It mostly started off with fire and ice and then the ice melted till it became water. We know the strength the fire possesses, an overwhelming one, with so much anger and no control. Wherever fire enters, it destroys everything along it's path. As for water, so subtle, gentle and free. But water too can also be very dangerous. It starts off slowly and then consumes everything along it's path.
When I started watching this movie, I wondered where it was going to take me. The buildup was good and I couldn't get a good subtitle at first but I could still understand what was happening. When I finally got the subtitle problem fixed, everything added up nicely. I enjoy watching movies like this in their traditional language, makes me connect with them, makes me be one with the movie and to be part of everything without really missing out on the small details.
The movie, directed by S. S. Rajamouli was said to be one of the most expensive Indian movies till date. Released on the 25th of March 2022, it
is produced by D. V. V. Danayya of DVV Entertainment and stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris. I could pretty much just enjoy the way the Indian language was blended with the English, and then the two cultures blended really nicely.

The movie tells the tale of two real life Indian revolutionaries A. Rama Raju(Charan) Komaram Bheem(Rama Rao) and brings to light their fight against the British. In 1920, the British Administrator Scott Buxton and his Wife Catherine visit a forest and forcefully took back with them a little girl call Malli from the Gond tribe and this pisses off their tribe's guardian Komaram Bheem who then swears to do anything to get her back and that means being someone else and taking a different name.
Scott gets warned of the impending danger and he takes action immediately offering money to anyone who would capture and neutralize the threat. The ambitious officer A. Rama Raju takes up the mantle and vows to do anything to bring down this threat. He does everything he can, and even goes under cover with his uncle to find clues that'll lead to his victory. Would Bheem be able to get past Scott's security to save Malli? Would Raju eventually figure out who Bheem is and do everything to stop him? You'll have to watch it to find out.
My take on the Movie
I'm always looking forward to this part because here I get tell things from my own point of view. At first when I started the movie, I was like yeah, it's just another Bollywood film. But I was wrong, the movie ran for three hours and there was no dull moment. From the beginning, it had been made to be as real can be. Then the stories were told in various sections, each one representing an R.
One thing I enjoyed about the movie was that it didn't just tell the normal story we were used to. I thought it was going to be quite predictable, with one man being the villian and the other being the protagonist of the story. I had hated Raju from the start, thinking of him as a blood thirsty officer who was out for evil. I must commend that the casts were pretty great. Indians are always known for having great acting skills but this one was really good. I could relate with each casts and when the real villian was revealed it was easy to hate him again.
You could feel the beauty of the 20s setting, with cars that were priceless at that time but hilarious to see now. The whole setting didn't disappoint, the use of guns and gun powder and also the whole racist theme. The fight for freedom has never been old and this movie portrayed it really well. The camera angles were first class Indian style and it sure did make it enjoyable, the slow motion, close up shots and far angles were also great.
One thing that almost made me laugh was the fact that some things just didn't add up. I know the story is based on real life human and then a blend of fiction but then some things were just too unrealistic. How can you explain a man carrying a bike with his hand and flinging it like it is nothing, haha. I couldn't get enough of that, the fighting scenes too were outrageous at some point. It felt like I was viewing something from the marvel universe with superhuman strength in play.
But notwithstanding that, it was enjoyable and the story was a touching one. I couldn't have guessed it to end that way but it did and it wasn't bad. There was enough build up on the characters for you to feel their absence or relate with them really well and when everything starts to add up you're left rooting for one person.
Favourite scene
My favourite scene has to be the dance scene. The one where the whites faced up against the brown. I'm a lover of art and it was beautiful to see such work of art. I always wondered how well the Indians came up with their choreography, costumes and songs. Gives you so much joy to see the synchronization and mastered dancing. I loved it and I didn't really want it to end.
Conclusion
RRR is an amazing movie and I wasn't surprised it actually gave me so much excitement. It took three boring hours away from me, lol. If you're one who appreciates diversity and enjoys exploring other cultures then I'm certain you should see this one. I'll rate it an 8 out of 10.

Realmente ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que vi una película india. Recuerdo los tiempos en los que solían ser realmente una cosa en esta parte del mundo. Películas como Los tres idiotas realmente nos dejaban la piel de gallina y mucho más. Empezaba a ser un gran fan de la franquicia india, la rica cultura, la exhibición a través de las danzas y también las buenas historias que contaban. Si había un rival, sólo lo era el cine coreano. El K-drama y las películas de Bollywood solían ser una cosa durante un tiempo hasta que, no sé qué pasó, supongo que Netflix tomó el relevo y algunas películas más inglesas.
Una historia entre fuego y agua es una que se remonta a épocas pasadas. Principalmente comenzó con el fuego y el hielo y luego el hielo se derritió hasta convertirse en agua. Conocemos la fuerza que posee el fuego, una fuerza abrumadora, con mucha ira y sin control. Dondequiera que entre el fuego, lo destruye todo a su paso. En cuanto al agua, tan sutil, suave y libre. Pero el agua también puede ser muy peligrosa. Comienza lentamente y luego lo consume todo a su paso.
Cuando empecé a ver esta película, me pregunté adónde me iba a llevar. El desarrollo era bueno y al principio no pude conseguir un buen subtítulo, pero aún así pude entender lo que estaba sucediendo. Cuando por fin conseguí arreglar el problema de los subtítulos, todo fue muy bien. Me gusta ver películas como esta en su idioma tradicional, me hace conectar con ellas, me hace ser uno con la película y ser parte de todo sin perderme los pequeños detalles.

Mi opinión sobre la película
Siempre me hace ilusión esta parte porque aquí consigo contar las cosas desde mi propio punto de vista. Al principio, cuando empecé la película, pensé que sí, que era otra película de Bollywood. Pero me equivoqué, la película duró tres horas y no hubo ningún momento aburrido. Desde el principio, se había hecho para que fuera lo más real posible. Luego, las historias se contaban en varias secciones, cada una de las cuales representaba un R.
Una cosa que me gustó de la película fue que no se limitó a contar la historia normal a la que estábamos acostumbrados. Pensé que iba a ser bastante predecible, con un hombre que era el villano y el otro el protagonista de la historia. Había odiado a Raju desde el principio, pensando en él como un oficial sediento de sangre que buscaba el mal. Debo elogiar que el reparto era bastante bueno. Los indios siempre son conocidos por tener grandes habilidades interpretativas, pero ésta era realmente buena. Me sentí identificado con cada uno de los actores y cuando se reveló el verdadero villano fue fácil volver a odiarlo.
Se notaba la belleza de la ambientación de los años 20, con coches que no tenían precio en aquella época pero que son divertidísimos de ver ahora. Toda la ambientación no decepcionó, el uso de armas y pólvora y también todo el tema racista. La lucha por la libertad nunca ha sido vieja y esta película la retrató muy bien. Los ángulos de la cámara eran de primera clase al estilo indio y seguro que la hicieron agradable, la cámara lenta, los primeros planos y los ángulos lejanos también eran geniales.
Una cosa que casi me hizo reír fue el hecho de que algunas cosas no tenían sentido. Sé que la historia está basada en la vida humana real y luego en una mezcla de ficción, pero algunas cosas eran demasiado irreales. Cómo se puede explicar que un hombre lleve una bicicleta con la mano y la lance como si nada, jaja. No me cansaba de eso, las escenas de lucha también eran escandalosas en algún momento. Parecía que estaba viendo algo del universo marvel con fuerza sobrehumana en juego.
Pero a pesar de eso, fue agradable y la historia fue conmovedora. No podría haber imaginado que terminaría así, pero lo hizo y no estuvo mal. Los personajes están lo suficientemente bien construidos como para que sientas su ausencia o te relaciones con ellos, y cuando todo empieza a cuadrar te quedas apoyando a una persona.
Escena favorita
Mi escena favorita tiene que ser la del baile. La de los blancos enfrentados a los marrones. Soy un amante del arte y fue precioso ver esa obra de arte. Siempre me he preguntado lo bien que se les ocurrió a los indios su coreografía, sus trajes y sus canciones. Te da mucha alegría ver la sincronización y la maestría del baile. Me encantó y no quería que terminara.
Conclusión
RRR es una película increíble y no me sorprendió que me diera tanta emoción. Me quitó tres horas de aburrimiento, lol. Si eres de los que aprecian la diversidad y disfrutan explorando otras culturas, entonces estoy seguro de que deberías ver esta. La califico con un 8 de 10.

I think one peculiar thing about Indian movies is the fact that they often make some of their sction films really outrageous. They are
usuallymostly unrealistic ans often astonishing, and I guess that's what attracts majority of their audience.Actually, not just the insanely untrue action scenes do their audience stay for, but for their kind of storylines. They are always captivating and usually has one on edge, the good ones actually. They do well to deliver very well with many aspects of their films; their romance is often intense, their action is crazily immersive sometimes, and the list goes on.
I, however, not in any way a fan of Indian films. I have nothing against them, but I just do not find myself drawn to their movies.
It is true that they used to be so popular until more English films powered by streaming services started to take over. It's good to see another Indian film reaching the top, regardless.
