Introduction

In line with the CineTV contest which is about movies with pets this week, I figured I'd dig a bit into movies with animals myself for this week's Cine Kids edition. I'm not really focussing on pets though, because you know, an orca or dolphin would only be held as a pet by rich and famous people. But for those that love movies about pet, I also have a few of these listed below. Be aware because this week I pulled out some classic animal movies instead of what's currently hot in the cinemas or on Netflix. Maybe you will find yourself taking a trip down memory lane!

Free Willy (1993)

I decided to start with Free Willy, many of us remember this movie from their childhood and many others probably also know the story that Michael Jackson bought this orca as I remember correctly. Either way, no matter what your opinion is about orcas and dolphins in these centres, I think everyone that saw Free Willy when it came out, remembers shedding a tear, lol. At least I do! The movie is from 1993 and with that one of the youngest classics I will share with you this week. Check out the trailer below and let me know if in comment if it brought up some memories for you and if you are going to re-watch it.

Lassie (1994)

For my second pick of the day, I'm sharing Lassie the movie from 1994. Now those that were around at this time, or are from the previous generation, may also remember the very popular TV show "Lassie come home" from 1943. if I remember it correctly, I also saw episodes of this TV show in my childhood and I was a big fan, what about you?

Either way, my memories about the dog Lassie and all his adventures bring up a fuzzy feeling so I guess it was a feelgood show and movie. The shows or movies about pets and kids adventures they make these days are not the same. I have good memories watching this one and you should check out the trailer below:

The Adventures Of Milo And Otis (1986)

Now this is one of these movies that I didn't immediately remember until I played it because the voices of a cat and a dog immediately rang a bell. Suddenly my mind went back to my early childhood when I saw the adventures of Milo and Otis, a cat and a dog who could talk, lol. I would have never remembered this movie by their names, these were hidden too far in my memory, but seeing the trailer made me go back in time. These days you have more movies with cats and dogs and adventures, but do they top these classics we watched in our childhood? What do you think? Below a trailer of the 1986 movie:

Old Yeller (1957)

We now go back even further, until 1957 to check out Old Yeller. I'm pretty sure this movie was aired on TV in my childhood because I see it's a movie from long before I was born. I guess by the time I saw it on TV the hype about this movie was long gone but as a kid loving animals and especially dogs, I enjoyed these adventures of Old Yeller and his human friends. I can't recall what happened exactly but seeing the trailer, made me curious if I should try to find it somewhere to see if my daughter loves it as well:

Flipper (1963)

The last classic movie with animals I will share with you today is Flipper, from 1963. I have to be completely honest and tell you that I probably saw this movie as well as the TV show that ran from 1964 to 1967 many times. The show and movie are from long before I was born as well but I really loved watching Flipper. I can still remember the sound this dolphin made even decades after I've seen it last. It was because of Flippers adventures that I had a thing for cute dolphins my childhood and always had the dream of being able to swim with dolphins. I didn't get further than visiting a few aqua worlds in Holland and Spain, but never swam with them (yet). Check out the movie trailer here:

Conclusion

These are just 5 of the classics I've shared above and I bumped on many more that brought up fuzzy feelings. Do you recognize a few of them and have you seen them all even if they were made long before you were born? Any of your thoughts and memories are welcome in the comment section below.

Have a great weekend and see you next week...

Free Willy! What a movie! It's been a long time since I've seen any of those films! No sloth I fear? We must add some Zootopia to the list! Bring on the Sloths!
