New Netflix releases

When I started writing the Cine Kids posts, I wasn't sure about the actual weekly format yet. Now that we're almost 2 months in, I'm starting to see what would be nice for a monthly recurring topic and what's just a one time thing. I don't think I want to have 4 monthly recurring topics for now just yet, but I think the "Memorable Movie Soundtracks" as well as the "Trip Down Memory Lane" leave enough room to pick from a lot of topics to write about that I feel confident enough to have them as a monthly topic for the time being. I may change these after some months in case I feel I have a new more interesting recurring topic. For now, you will see them return anyway.

I wrote about several topics now but new releases wasn't one of them, until today that is. I decided to create a monthly post about new Netflix releases. Today's post is about the new releases upcoming this month, March. I picked three movies/shows that I think are going to be a good watch.

The Magician's Elephant

The first movie I'd like to share today is "The Magician's Elephant", it's coming to Netflix in a week, on March 17 and I personally loved the trailer. The title is catchy so it made me check out this release, especially seeing the cute elephant animation in the thumbnail.

The film is based on a book authored by Kate DiCamillo. The story is about a boy called Peter who was told that he needs the magician's elephant to find his sister. To do so he will have to complete a bunch of impossible tasks so that he will be gifted the elephant. In the trailer you will see how a few of these tasks go, and you can see that it's not going to be a smooth ride.

I'm personally adding this to our family watch list as I think we will all enjoy watching this movie and I'm also going to make a note about checking the book at some point. Below you can find the trailer:

Let me know if you read the book by any chance and are planning on going to watch the movie.

House of Anubis

Now today's second pick is one that I find fun to share because House of Anubis is based on the Dutch-Belgian television series "Het huis van Anubis" and as you may know by now, I'm Dutch so I remember seeing this show on TV when I was a bit younger. It was not during my childhood though, I think I watched it with my oldest at the time. At the time, it was not that normal to have a Dutch tv show being put together very well, and "Het huis van Anubis" really stood out, so I remember.

It's pretty cool to see that they have now remade it for international tv and I can re-watch it again with my youngest as I think she will love it as well, that is if it's as good as the original or even better.

The original show was created by Hans Bourlon & Gert Verhulst, the latter has been on TV a lot during my childhood with his show "Samson & Gert" and created a HUGE empire in the Belgian tv world. I never knew much about him until I recently discovered he has his own reality tv show with his girlfriend and 2 kids. It's hilarious to say the least, I really started loving the show as it makes me laugh from the beginning to the end. Gert Verhulst is a true businessman and I can only imagine that his already good original show has now been re-made into something even better.

Check out the trailer below:

Apologies for the quality of the trailer but it was hard to find one that seemed to show the actual re-make instead of the original.

Ridley Jones - Season 5

Of course I also need to share a nice new release for the smaller kids, in this case the preschoolers. Four successful seasons of Ridley Jones, and now airing season 5 on Netflix since a few days ago.

If you saw this show with your kid, you know Ridley Jones is all about adventures, as Netflix says new powers, tolls and adventures ahead in this fresh season. The mission of Ridley and the Eyes is to keep the secrets of the museum safe. You will have to check out for yourself if they succeed in their mission. Below the trailer:

Has your child watched the previous seasons of Ridley Jones? Did he or she like it? And what was your parental opinion? Please leave a comment if you would like to share your thoughts.

I have not heard of House of Anubus before. This sounds like an incredibly interesting series. Not sure if we'll be able to get here, but I will have to check into it. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah it was quite good, I didn't watch any of the new episodes yet, so I'm happy it will air on Netflix soon. I will sure watch it and compare it to the original version.

Have a great weekend!

Hi @cinetv I love these shows! They look so cute! I don't have children and never did, but I use to have little parrots little cockatiels and I had a parakeet. They enjoyed watching the little kid shows especially the last cartoon type for really little kids. Birds have the intelligence of young human children and the emotions of 2 year old children :)

I did not know this but it sure explains why they love playing peekaboo 1000 times a day and keep finding it funny, just like my kids haha. Endless laughs about the same thing :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week ahead!
