Hello and welcome to the 45TH edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. The Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun in a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community and showcase the work of deserving authors.

And it’s all simple. Every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style, and word count. It is not a contest, but just our way of creating exposure for the works we enjoyed throughout the week and boosting exceptionally written content by our authors. Simply put, give it your best and have fun while at it, and then we showcase your work here.

So, in no particular order, here are the authors spotlighted for this week:

Title: Family Pack

Apart from the humour, I’d say I liked the actors. There weren’t many displays of affection and emotion, not with them trying to live in the medieval times, but there was just enough to see the powers of these actors on display. There were moments that required silent communication, not between the characters but from actors to the audience. One of those moments happened to be at the end, and maybe I am exaggerating it but I felt the pain of Marie as she tried to save her daughter, Louise.

I would also like to talk about another major character in the movie. His name is Dada Bhai. Though, Dada Bhai was known to be the man of the people in the public with most people claiming him to be their benefactor having benefited from his good deeds towards them, but in his mind, he knew he was not what they took him for. He knew what he was up to and that he's only playing on their intelligence to make his wealth dubious and pave the way for himself in his political career. I would liken this character to a double-faceted personality.

Title: Alice in Borderland

I thought season 1 was intense. Season 2? That’s where it got personal. I don’t know if it was just me but I reached a point where I felt like I was part of the game, I started catching on to patterns. I could almost tell who the “citizens” of the Borderland were before it was revealed. Like, my brain was I full survival mode, I was guessing motives with Arisu, looking for clues, bracing for betrayals. At first, I didn’t think I’d get this into it, by the time we got to the Queen of Hearts...

Title: Good Old Bruce Almighty

Look, if you're even a casual fan of Jim Carrey's brand of comedy – you know, the way he contorts his face, that wild physical humor, the just bonkers energy he brings – then this movie totally delivers. He's really at the top of his game here, just unleashed. Watching him first get this mind-blowing power, then absolutely misuse it, is where most of the big laughs come from. Remember him parting the tomato soup in that restaurant? Or messing with poor Evan Baxter (Steve Carell, who is just brilliant here, by the way, playing it totally straight, which makes Bruce's antics even funnier!) on live TV?

Title: Squid Game || Seaso 1-3 Review

squid.jpeg

Let me begin by talking about the effort which was put into this series. My mind was absolutely blown away by so many things. From props to production to the setting and everything. Squid Game itself is known for the costumes, the setting and the games. It might sound like it’s all hype until you watch the series and see for yourself. The characters. Oh my, oh my. I told my friend that I won’t be surprised if some of the characters in this series were born purposely for the series. I know it might sound funny but that should tell you how good the characters were.

Title: Shadow Force

force.jpg

This movie is so interesting and well acted out, however, there is no movie without flaws. The pacing in the middle drags slightly as the plot tries to dig into political conspiracies involving the CIA and private mercenary groups. Some subplots feel underdeveloped, and a few supporting characters are mere stereotypes especially the villain, who lacks the complexity to be truly memorable. I can say that what truly elevates Shadow Force is its heart. It’s a film about redemption, about making peace with your past, and about the lengths a parent will go to for their child, the sacrifices for family was epic.

Title: The Old Guard 2

There are several scenes that will leave you holding your breath, especially the confrontations between Andy and Quynh, where emotion and violence blend in heartbreaking ways. The final act of the movie is unforgettable, revealing a major twist that sets up a possible third installment. Without giving away too much, let’s just say immortality comes at a cost, and every choice echoes through centuries. The cinematography in this film is stunning, especially the flashback scenes which take us back to ancient battlefields and quiet, personal moments in time.

Title: Million Dollar Weekend

ith Alan (played by Lederer), on the other hand, things are different. He's an individual who sees people as chess pieces at his disposal in order to achieve his ends. This is notable for the way he treated Cynthia throughout the film: always with a condescending smile, confident that he'll get what he wants and that he'll be able to get his way no matter how many people he would hurt in the process. The movie could be interpreted as an alegory that things aren't always going to be black and white. It's in each of us to consider whether to run away from a suffocating past or to face it and assume the consequences that come with it.
