Hello and welcome to the 50TH edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. The Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun in a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community and showcase the work of deserving authors.

And it’s all simple. Every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style, and word count. It is not a contest, but just our way of creating exposure for the works we enjoyed throughout the week and boosting exceptionally written content by our authors. Simply put, give it your best and have fun while at it, and then we showcase your work here.

So, in no particular order, here are the authors spotlighted for this week:

Title: Materialists || Navigating Love in Today's World

materialist.jpeg

The tone of Materialists is more sophisticated and grounded than typical rom-coms with moments of warmth and humour alongside darker, more dramatic turns including candid discussions of challenges in relationships. This– lack of vulnerability in relationships– happens to be one of the leading causes of failed relationships and I was absolutely thrilled when this movie portrayed the importance of having certain uncomfortable conversations with our partners. The movie went ahead to show how easy this makes things.

Title: Konge

Let’s get serious. Would you believe that there are so many men who have no knowledge about having a child elsewhere? So many men sleep around that at the end of their lives, they have different children with different women and some ones that they wouldn’t even know.
Maybe this is how some siblings get married because they never knew their father had a child somewhere. I’m not being bias but this happens mostly to men because they have no idea of who might have gotten pregnant for them or not.

Title: The Unholy Trinity

I started the YouTube series last week, and with seven episodes so far, I can't just wait to see where this story goes. What caught my attention right from the start was the dynamic of their stories. The actors who put in all their best to interpret their roles. And the overall production is so on point. The Wives is a Nigerian YouTube series, one that explores the relationships of some Christian faith couples. The dynamic of their characters, their marriages, flaws, infidelity, toxicity, and everything in between. This series teaches many valuable lessons that we all can relate to in our world today.

Title: The Frozen Ground

frozen.jpeg

The Frozen Ground is a typical, well-crafted detective story that, if you like suspense, you will love. It is based on a true story: serial killer Robert Hansen, who between 1970 and 1983 kidnapped, raped, and murdered between 17 and 30 women in the Anchorage, Alaska, area. His method was hunting, as he saw them as animals. He would release them into the woods, give them a chance to run, and then hunt them down with a gun. He was arrested in September 1983 and sentenced to 461 years without the possibility of parole.

Title: Spartan Spirit: Quotes From 300

spartan.png

The movie "300" is the retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae (Note: It's fictional), where 300 Spartans led by King Leonidas fought against the massive Persian army. The story begins with King Leonidas receiving a visit from a Persian messenger, demanding Earth and water as symbols of submission to King Xerxes. Leonidas rejects the demand, while giving him the "This is Spartan Kick" and the Persians threaten to destroy Sparta. Not a lot of people supported him, yet they don't want to lose their land. Despite knowing the odds are against them...

Title: Final Destination: Bloodline - A choice between life and survival

final.jpeg

I love this particular release in the Final Destination more, probably because the message in this one was passed clearly - Live. As is typical of it's predecessors, death always comes for everyone no matter how hard they try to fight against it. They worked so hard, running away from death, protecting their future. A future which they did not have. As weird as it sounds, this movie inspired me. I'd been in a really dark place this past few weeks but seeing this movie, opened my eyes as to why I should appreciate life more. I'm glad.

Title: Battle ofSupermen!!!

super.jpeg

However, due to low ratings and the movie not making an impressive box office, while also noting that around the same period, Marvel films were majorly box office hits. At the time, Marvel seemed to own the theatres while DC had to manage the crumbs and smaller screens. So, Warner Bros decided to axe the entire franchise and reboot it. They handed it over to James Gunn. Mind you, this was fresh after he had directed The Suicide Squad, which was a major hit as well. His track record for taking obscure characters and making them mainstream (as he did with Guardians Of The Galaxy and PeaceMaker) was also a major factor.

Title: A Crazy War for Sane Peace

crazyy.jpeg

Yes, fellow cinephiles, I wondered that too. We're used to thinking that the past stays in the past, and that the future doesn't yet exist. For now, that's true, but we live at the beginning of a technological era where virtuality and artificial intelligence are making many things that previously only belonged to fantasy narratives a reality. What would happen if, 50 or 100 years from now, you could face your childhood self, your teenage self, your middle-aged self, or your elderly self? What would you do if you met the "selves"

And there you have it! Congratulations to all those spotlighted this week. We look forward to more exceptional content. And to everyone posting in the community, we look forward to seeing more of you around.
