Community News!

Finally! Right now, CineTV community is 1000 followers strong and the number is increasing rapidly! Engagement is on the rise naturally.

There are some new followers on Twitter as well. One of the things cinetv Twitter handler is doing very well is introducing writing prompts based on movies. Those are quite cool and a lot of community members are engaging on twitter and then writing posts on the community based on the prompts. Not contests, no rules — just plain simple prompts to pour your heart into. This has been a successful venture and we look forward to see what the future has in store for us!

Take a look at the current prompt for instance -

On the other hand, we are busy bees on our discord server. Discord is good for chatting with the members in real-time, unlike the blockchain. We've added banjo bots and our somebody is raining CINE token, no idea who! Perhaps @papacrusher has some ideas!

Cine Contest update

The current contest Cinetv Contest: Your Most Favorite Romantic Film is still open and the deadline is 21st February 2022, 11:59 PM, UTC time. So you still have some time if you want to take part in it.

The results will be published on Wednesday, along with a brand new contest.

Watch Party was a lot of fun!

We finally had a watch party. To start things with good, accessible and loved by all kinda films, we picked One Week (1920) by Buster Keaton. It is a silent era, it is a classic and without a doubt—a masterpiece!

A few people, mostly who frequent our server, were present in the watch party and we had a nice time watching the film together. After that we watched another of Keaton's film The Playhouse (1921).

Additionally, we want to keep the watch party open for suggestions. You can name the movie you want to see together with us. However, the film must not violate copyright laws. Let's keep it fair and simple. :)

weekly highlights.png

Let's pay respect to some of the mentionable posts from this week that was posted in CineTV. We want to recognize exceptional pieces and let the authors know their efforts are not futile. This is also a fine way to get some more traction in their posts.

image.png

There is no doubt Alejandro Jodorowsky (17 feb) is a controversial figure in the history of cinema, but his contribution to the art form is also undeniable.
This Chilean filmmaker is the synecdoche for absurd surrealism. No one, in the entire film history went to such length to portray symbolism in the most absurd way possible as Jodorowsky did. You want subtlety? You go to Bunuel, or Fellini even. You want to go all in? Jodorowsky is the answer.

His El Topo, The Holy Mountain, Santa Sangre remain some of the stunning visual and mental treats for any cinephile.

Robert Altman (feb 20) the famous anti-hollywood filmmaker from the new hollywood movement was also born this week. And one of the few filmmakers who remained as a subversive icon while being quite popular.

You can check out his MAS*H, The Long Goodbye, Nashville if you are new to him.

This is it for this week.

WE WILL RETURN.

Thanks for this recognition within the newspaper, it's great the new image of the community and these weekly publications in particular are very nice, fun and educational. The mentions to my colleagues @evaredskin and @greengalletti are well deserved, their publications referring to I Saw the Devil and the Jackal of Nahueltoro are very good. Thanks again and greetings to all. Let's keep growing.
