I remember many years ago a chapter that I never expected from the X-Men, usually I was used to see battles after battles against powerful enemies, but when Christmas came at that time in the 90's appeared in the series a special chapter which was dedicated to Christmas Eve, there were no battles - each villain celebrated with his own - or anything like that, so I was surprised at that time.

One of the most emblematic phrases of the chapter was pronounced by Wolverine when Jubilo insisted him to sing a Christmas song, his answer was: "girl the day you hear me singing bells that will be the day when pigs fly" I can still laugh at his cold attitude and desire to have a fight instead of being in the good night.

The chapter itself is quite memorable and meaningful. The Morlocks, a tribe of mutants who live underground carry quite a bit of weight in this episode, in previous chapters they had faced the X-men and upon being defeated by them Storm became their leader. However she had not frequented them anymore since then and here they see each other's faces once again.

How do the events occur?

It turns out that Storm, Titania, Júbilo and Wolverine go to the mall to buy gifts for Christmas Eve at the mansion. Everything happens normally until the Morlocks make their appearance, Leech one of the members falls ill and for that reason they decide to go to the hospital to steal supplies to cure him. The detail is that they do not reach their destination but when they are chased by the police they crash and "fortunately" interrupt the X-Men in their shopping.

This event does not leave them without reprimand by their leader and Wolverine, although seeing the seriousness of the matter they decide to go with them and try to help them. Recall that Wolverine has the mutant power of self-healing so they try to cure Leech using his blood. At first Wolverine refuses but after pleas and a strong confrontation from Storm he decides to give it a try.

To reflect

The point here, and one that caught my attention, is the moral issue. First we have a plight, the Morlocks evidently did not have the resources to solve the situation and decide to go to steal, seeking to solve the possible way, Wolverine rebukes them harshly for their behavior, even questioning Storm for not taking care of them being their leader. Here there is a lot of fabric to cut, it is a situation in an anime that can easily become a real circumstance for many, the immediate question is what would we do in such a situation? Interesting without a doubt, it leaves us to meditate a lot.

The truth is that in the rest of the chapter the directors made their decision and conclude with the help to the little evildoers. A token of love? I leave it up to you if you see the chapter, it is number 57 and is located in the 4th season. The truth is that the development is still striking, at the end of the day the theme is about Christmas Eve and how to save a life on that night.

Wolverine thanks to his power manages to save Leech, and to finish they give many Christmas gifts to all the young mutants of the underground. In the mansion Gambito and Jean because the dinner that caused so many problems in the preparation will not be able to be tasted. To conclude I can say that it was a very different but very good episode, in fact it is one of the ones that my children like the most, at the time they watched it over and over again, until they learned it by heart.

Finally I hope you can watch it, it is a different way to enjoy a Christmas production, it is only one episode but it is very enjoyable.

Recuerdo hace muchos años un capitulo que jamás me espere de los X-Men, por lo general estaba acostumbrado a ver batallas tras batallas contra enemigos poderosos, pero cuando llego la navidad en aquella época de los 90’ apareció en la serie un capítulo especial el cual estaba dedicado a la noche buena, allí no hubieron batallas – cada villano celebraba junto a los suyos- ni nada por el estilo, por lo que quede sorprendido en aquel entonces.

Una de las frases más emblemáticas del capítulo la pronuncio Wolverine cuando Jubilo le insistía para cantar una canción navideña, su respuesta fue: “niña el día que me oigas cantando cascabeles ese será el día en que los cerdos vuelen” aun puedo reírme de su actitud fría y deseosa de tener una pelea en vez de estar en la noche buena.

El capítulo en si es bastante memorable y significativo. Los Morlocks, una tribu de mutantes que viven bajo tierra tienen bastante peso en este episodio, en anteriores capítulos se habían enfrentado a los hombres X y al ser derrotados por ellos Tormenta se convirtió en su líder. Sin embargo no los había frecuentado más desde ese entonces y aquí se ven las caras una vez más.

¿Cómo ocurren los acontecimientos?

Resulta que Tormenta, Titania, Júbilo y Wolverine van al centro comercial a comprar regalos para la noche buena en la mansión. Todo ocurre normal hasta que los Morlocks hacen su aparición, Leech uno de los integrantes cae enfermo y por esa razón deciden ir al hospital a robar insumos para curarlo. El detalle es que no llegan a su destino sino que al ser perseguido por la policía se estrellan y “afortunadamente” interrumpen a los X-Men en sus compras.

Este evento no los deja sin reprimenda por su líder y Wolverine, aunque al ver la gravedad del asunto deciden ir con ellos y tratar de ayudarles. Recordemos que Wolverine tiene el poder mutante de la auto curación por lo que intentan curar a Leech usando su sangre. Al principio Wolverine se rehúsa pero después de ruegos y una fuerte confrontación de Tormenta decide intentarlo.

Para reflexionar

El punto acá y que llamo bastante mi atención es el tema moral. Primero tenemos una situación apremiante, los Morlocks evidentemente no tenían los recursos para solventar la situación y deciden ir a robar, buscar resolver de la forma posible, Wolverine los reprende duramente por su comportamiento, incluso cuestiona a Tormenta por no cuidarlos siendo su líder. Aquí hay mucha tela que cortar, es una situación en un anime que fácilmente se puede convertir en una circunstancia real para muchos, la pregunta inmediata es ¿Qué haríamos nosotros en tal situación? Interesante sin duda, nos deja para meditar bastante.

Lo cierto es que en el resto del capítulo los directores hicieron su decisión y concluyen con la ayuda a los pequeños malhechores. Una muestra de amor? Lo dejo a tu criterio si ves el capítulo, es el número 57 y se ubica en la 4ta temporada. Lo cierto es que el desarrollo no deja de ser llamativo, al final de cuentas el tema se trata de la noche buena y como se salva una vida en esa noche.

Wolverine gracias a su poder logra salvar a Leech, y para terminar les dan muchos regalos de navidad a todos los mutantes jóvenes del subsuelo. En la mansión Gambito y Jean porque la cena que le causo tantos problemas en la preparación no podrá ser degustada. Para concluir puedo decir que fue un episodio muy diferente pero muy bueno, de hecho es uno de los que más le gusta a mis hijos, en su momento los veían una y otra vez, hasta que se lo aprendieron de memoria.

Por ultimo espero que puedan verlo, es una forma diferente de disfrutar de una producción navideña, es solo un capitulo pero se disfruta bastante.
