Jackie Chan is one of those actors who have his personal mark well marked at the time of acting, no matter what the film or the role he develops, whether main or secondary his participations are full of seriousness and comedy, something that has characterized him in the world of cinema, a quality that for many is pleasant while for others it is not.

Throughout the time I've been a moviegoer there are many movies I've seen of this respected actor, I'm not usually a fan precisely because of what many like, it's like eating a salty and sweet dish, I do not like it, however ... Jackie Chan has something that usually catches viewers and today I can not decipher what it could be, every time a movie where he acts I start criticizing it but in the end I end up watching it in its entirety.

Project Extraction or Hidden Strike as it is known outside of America is his most recent film, here Jackie plays Dragon Luo, a special forces commander of his country who is involved in a national security mission, where he moves workers in charge of oil refineries, a desired good by nations and also by those who wish to take revenge.

This is where another character with a good track record in the film world comes in, Pilou Asbaek who plays Owen, a "sore" worker who wants to supposedly take justice into his own hands and pay himself what the companies stole from him, in other words he wants to get his hands on the oil and based on that he leads a planned kidnapping against some of the workers Luo protects.

Jackie Chan es uno de esos actores que tienen su marca personal bien marcada al momento de actuar, no importa cuál sea la película ni el papel que desarrolle, sea principal o secundario sus participaciones están llenas de mucha seriedad y comedia, algo que lo ha caracterizado en el mundo del cine, una cualidad que para muchos es agradable mientras que para otros no.

A lo largo del tiempo que llevo siendo un cinéfilo son muchas las películas que he visto de este respetado actor, no suelo ser su fan precisamente por lo que a muchos les gusta, es como comer un plato salado y dulce, no me gusta, sin embargo a pesar de… Jackie Chan tiene algo que suele atrapar a los televidentes y al momento de hoy no logro descifrar que pueda ser, cada vez que sale una película donde el actué comienzo criticándola pero al final termino viéndola completa.

Proyecto Extracción o Hidden Strike como se le conoce fuera de América es su película más reciente, aquí Jackie interpreta a Dragón Luo, un comandante de fuerzas especiales de su país que se ve involucrado en una misión de seguridad nacional, donde traslada a trabajadores encargados de las refinerías de petróleo, un bien deseado por las naciones y también por aquellos que desean cobrar venganza.

Aquí es donde entra otro personaje con una buena trayectoria en el mundo del cine, Pilou Asbaek quien interpreta a Owen, un “adolorido” trabajador que quiere supuestamente hacer justicia por su propia cuenta y auto pagarse lo que las empresas le robaron, en otras palabras desea hacerse con el petróleo y en base a eso lidera un secuestro planificado contra algunos de los trabajadores que Luo protege.

In the middle of the main story the film shows us another more particular story, Luo's daughter is also in the transport due to his participation in the project, so Luo wants to protect her and shows himself as a protective father worth the redundancy, however in the beginning of the film we see the rejection of his daughter and the claim he makes because of the family abandonment suffered by him, to which Luo responds that the country needed him.

This part definitely caught my attention because of the importance of fatherhood in the family, it made me think of those fathers who work undercover or are agents of important agencies and must practically abandon their family to fulfill their missions, although we see this mostly in movies is definite that in real life there are people who have had to live this kind of situations.

The drama that is shown in these scenes and in the rest of the movie between Luo and Mei shows how fractured their father-daughter relationship is and I think it is one of the messages that the production wants to give to its viewers because there is no success that replaces family failure.

In that sense the story becomes interesting, on the other hand the action scenes are typical of this author, martial arts combined with comic moves and "funny" and even silly situations like fighting in a place full of soap bubbles, but in itself quite entertaining, even my 5 year old son who rarely watches movies sat down and did not get up until the movie was over.

John Cena also had participation in the movie and I must say that he was the perfect combination with Jackie for this production, at times I had the illusion of seeing a more serious movie for how it was developing in the first 30 minutes, but after that the movie took a turn to all that seriousness to never return, my illusion vanished and I knew what awaited me if I continued watching it.

En medio de la historia principal la película nos muestra otra historia más particular, la hija de Luo también está en el transporte debido a su participación en el proyecto, por lo que Luo quiere protegerla y se muestra como un padre protector valga la redundancia, sin embargo en el inicio de la película vemos el rechazo de su hija y el reclamo que le hace a causa del abandono familiar que sufrió por parte de él, a lo que Luo responde que el país lo necesitaba.

Esta parte definitivamente llamo mi atención debido a la importancia que tiene la paternidad en la familia, me hizo pensar en aquellos padres que trabajan encubiertos o son agentes de organismos importantes y deben prácticamente abandonar a su familia para cumplir sus misiones, aunque esto lo vemos mayormente en las películas es definitivo que en la vida real hay personas que les ha tocado vivir este tipo de situaciones.

El drama que se muestra en estas escenas y en el resto de la película entre Luo y Mei muestra lo fracturado que esta su relación de padre a hija y pienso que es uno de los mensajes que la producción quiere dar a sus televidentes pues no hay éxito que sustituya el fracaso familiar.

En ese sentido la historia se vuelve interesante, por otro lado las escenas de acción son típicas de este autor, artes marciales combinadas con movimientos cómicos y situaciones “divertidas” y hasta tontas como pelear en un lugar lleno de burbujas de jabón, pero en sí bastante entretenidas, hasta mi hijo de 5 años que poco ve películas se sentó y no se levantó hasta que la película termino.

John Cena también tuvo participación en la película y debo decir que fue la combinación perfecta junto a Jackie para esta producción, por momentos tuve la ilusión de ver una película más seria por cómo se venía desarrollando en los primeros 30 minutos, pero después de eso la película dio un giro a toda esa seriedad para nunca más volver, mi ilusión se esfumo y ya sabía lo que me esperaba si continuaba observándola.

Final impressions / Impresiones finales

Beyond that I do not understand the mystery of Jackie Chan to hook me in his films I can not deny that he is a very good actor, his productions are a swing of emotions, at times the films are boring but moments later reach a peak of entertainment, that's the word and this is where I think this is his magic, he knows how to entertain viewers.

The film is generally good, it has striking audiovisual effects and at the same time moderate, it does not exaggerate as to fall into the merely fictional but shows dynamism and tries to exalt realism in each of them, although there is always something of "illusion" in how it survives some situations, something very normal in his films and let me tell you that this is no exception. All in all it is a decent, colorful and entertaining production that does not escape from what Jackie Chan usually is, so if you like the films of this actor I am convinced that this is one that you will enjoy without a doubt.

Más allá de que no comprenda el misterio de Jackie Chan para engancharme en sus películas no puedo negar que es muy buen actor, sus producciones son un vaivén de emociones, por momentos las películas son aburridas pero momentos después alcanzan un pico de entretenimiento, esa es la palabra y aquí es donde pienso que esta su magia, sabe entretener a los televidentes.

La película en líneas generales es buena, tiene efectos audiovisuales llamativos y a su vez moderados, no exagera como para caer en lo meramente ficcional sino que muestra dinamismo y trata de exaltar el realismo en cada uno de ellos, aunque siempre hay algo de “ilusión” en como sobrevive a algunas situaciones, algo muy normal en sus películas y déjame decirte que esta no es la excepción. En definitiva es una producción decente, vistosa y entretenida que no se escapa de lo que Jackie Chan suele ser, por lo tanto si te gustan las películas de este actor estoy convencido que esta es una que disfrutaras sin lugar a dudas.
