The high cost of greed // El alto costo de la avaricia

Greed is sin, no matter if you are a religious person or not, greed has always been considered as something sinful, negative and even dangerous, so don't be scared, the topic in this post is not about defining this evil but the effects it produces in the lives of human beings, and for that the movie starring Ben Affleck called "Triple Frontier" is excellent because its plot revolves around actions full of greed.

For a moment I did not understand the title of the movie, I thought that touching the main theme would be better but its focus was based on the places where the story takes place, hence the title emphasizing the borders of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, I explain this in case the same thing happens to you after watching the movie.

Everything starts with a lot of action, a bit of drama and deaths to keep us on top from the beginning, however as the story develops we can see the discontent of 5 veterans of the official forces of the United States who after giving their lives for many years in the service of their country do not have a decent life so to speak, they are not insured and "earn a living" like any American citizen, with the only difference that they are not good at what they do and their soul is linked to armed action.

Only one of them remained working in the army, but not in the American army, and that is why these four veterans come out of retirement to carry out a dangerous mission that begins in Brazil. Up to this point we have a clear context of the story, but there are many things to highlight, although wars are surrounded by all that pride and honor to be defending a country, for those who survive and retire things are usually not so simple, the inclusion into society is extremely difficult because they are violent people to begin with and unfamiliar with traditional trades.

La avaricia es pecado, sin importar si eres una persona religiosa o no la avaricia siempre se ha considerado como algo pecaminoso, negativo e incluso peligroso, así que no te asustes, el tema en este post no se trata en definir este mal sino en los efectos que esta produce en la vida de los seres humanos, y para eso la película protagonizada por Ben Affleck llamada “Triple frontera” es excelente pues su trama gira en torno a acciones llenas de codicia.

Por momento no entendí el título de la misma, pensé que tocar el tema principal sería mejor pero su enfoque fue basado en los lugares donde se desarrolla la historia, de allí el titulo haciendo énfasis a las fronteras de Brasil, Paraguay y Argentina, esto lo explico por si te pasa lo mismo que a mi después de ver la película.

Todo comienza con mucha acción, un poco de drama y muertes para mantenernos a tope desde el inicio, sin embargo a medida que se va desarrollando la historia podemos ver el descontento de 5 veteranos de las fuerzas oficiales de los Estados Unidos quienes después de dar su vida por muchos años al servicio de su país no tienen una vida digna por decirlo de alguna manera, no están asegurados y se "ganan la vida" como cualquier ciudadano americano, con la única diferencia que no son buenos en lo que hacen y su alma está ligada a la acción armada.

Solo uno de ellos quedo trabajando en el ejército, pero no en el americano, y es por el que estos 4 veteranos salen del retiro para realizar una misión peligrosa que inicia en Brasil. Hasta este punto tenemos un contexto claro de la historia, pero hay muchas cosas que resaltar de la misma, si bien las guerras están rodeadas de todo ese orgullo y honor de estar defendiendo un país, para aquellos que sobreviven y se retiran las cosas no suelen ser tan sencillas, la inclusión a la sociedad es sumamente difícil porque son personas violentas para comenzar y desconocedoras de oficios tradicionales.

Ben Affleck plays Captain Tom, a man who was a military hero but has his marriage destroyed by the simple fact that he does not work or rather is not effective in the job he has, that is the main reason for the marital relationship is completely ruined. Among his other companions, none of them has stability, only Pope, who remained active, has a better life than the others.

Each one goes ahead but Pope intervenes in the lives of others, because of investigations and hard work has managed to find the whereabouts of a drug dealer who has a large fortune, so he decides to devise a plan to steal it and includes his four friends. Here we can see the interests of this man and the play on words he used to convince them, it is interesting to see how through realities he managed to change the way of thinking of each member, there was no manipulation but realistic statements, and that is super important to lead us to action, that we are shown the reality of things, only then when we realize we act, so it is necessary this kind of friends who can speak hard truths at appropriate times.

Obviously the theme of the robbery is not applauded, Pope masks everything with a supposed act of justice, but in the end it is murder and robbery, nothing more, because it is an action done by them and behind the back of the government, in other words an illegal act. What is the point here? Justice or greed? Evidently it is the second and at this point the author of the production leads us to think because we know that all or most of the films where Ben Affleck participates have to do with moral issues. This may be to the liking of some and not others but they are important issues that lead us to reflect.

Ben Affleck encarna al capitán Tom, un hombre que fue un héroe militar pero tiene su matrimonio destruido por el simple hecho que no trabaja o mejor dicho no es eficaz en el trabajo que tiene, eso es motivo principal para que la relación marital este completamente arruinada. Entre sus otros compañeros ninguno tiene una estabilidad, solo Pope quien se mantuvo activo posee una mejor vida que los demás.

Cada uno sigue adelante pero Pope interviene en la vida de los demás, a causa de investigaciones y arduo trabajo ha logrado dar con el paradero de un narcotraficante que tiene una gran fortuna, por lo que decide idear un plan para robársela e incluye a sus cuatro amigos. Aquí podemos ver los intereses de este hombre y el juego de palabras que uso para convencerlos, es interesante ver como a través de realidades logro cambiar la manera de pensar de cada integrante, no hubo una manipulación sino declaraciones realistas, y eso es súper importantes para llevarnos a la acción, que se nos muestre la realidad de las cosas, solo así cuando caemos en cuenta accionamos, por lo tanto es necesario este tipo de amigos que puedan hablar verdades duras en momentos indicados.

Obviamente no se aplaude el tema del robo, Pope enmascara todo con un supuesto acto de justicia, pero al final es asesinato y robo, nada más, pues es una acción hecha por ellos y a espaldas del gobierno, en otras palabras un acto ilegal. ¿Cuál es el punto acá? ¿La justicia o la codicia? Evidentemente es la segunda y en este punto el autor de la producción nos lleva a pensar pues sabemos que todos o la mayoría de film donde Ben Affleck participa tienen que ver con temas morales. Esto podrá ser del agrado de unos y otros no pero son asuntos importantes que nos llevan a reflexionar.

Final Thoughts / Pensamientos finales

There is a lot to say about the film as such but I will encourage you to watch it, the only thing is that the story has a very unexpected twist and I like that, there is a suspense that puts you emotions at bay, but it is also nice to see how the story was developed, although the central thing is greed you can also see strong bonds of friendship between the protagonists, added to that is included the pain, despair and perseverance to overcome the adversities present.

I think it is a film that has a lot of teaching, if we get carried away by the development of the same we will have much to appreciate, because although it is a fictional story has a lot of realism for the issues that are touched in it. In addition to that, the cast has a lot of quality, each of the actors does their job well and fits perfectly with their role. Playing war veterans is not easy but each one does it very well, so the scenes are quite complete.

Finally and to conclude, if you like how Ben Affleck acts you will like this movie, he is undoubtedly a good actor, besides that you will enjoy an excellent story from beginning to end.

Hay mucho que decir del film como tal pero te animare a verlo, lo único es que la historia tiene un giro muy inesperado y eso me gusta, hay un suspenso que te coloca las emociones a raya, pero también es agradable ver como la historia fue desarrollada, si bien lo central es la avaricia también se pueden ver lazos fuertes de amistad entre los protagonistas, sumado a eso se incluye el dolor, la desesperación y la perseverancia para superar las adversidades presentes.

Pienso que es una película que tiene mucha enseñanza, si nos dejamos llevar por el desarrollo de la misma tendremos mucho que apreciar, pues aunque es una historia ficticia posee mucho realismo por los temas que se tocan en ella. Sumado a eso el elenco tiene mucha calidad, cada uno de los actores hace bien su trabajo y encaja perfectamente con su papel. Interpretar veteranos de guerra no es sencillo pero cada uno lo hace muy bien, por lo tanto las escenas están bastante completas.

Por último y para concluir, si te gusta como actúa Ben Affleck te gustara esta película, es sin duda un buen actor, además de eso disfrutaras de una excelente historia de principio a fin.
