Movies Galore

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to talk about catching up after quite a few years of not keeping up with movies I've been interested in!

Movies Galore

Recently I started watching some movies that I've missed over the last few years. I didn't realize just how many I've missed LOL

Over the last few months, off and on I've been watching movies to pass the time when not on Hive or when I've been afflicted with illnesses. I haven't really watched many movies over the last few years because as my son was growing up, I took care of him more than I did other things except for Hive. This meant that I stopped watching TV and movies entirely which was okay because the kiddo was more important. Since he's gotten older though, I've been able to catch up on some movies and it's been really cool to check them out!

I think the list below is pretty solid, I may have missed a movie or two and certainly going to be thinking about it while I am writing this but I know those are most of them.

John Wick 1
John Wick 2
John Wick 3
Hellboy (most recent)
Mortal Kombat
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Fantastic Beasts 2
Daddys Home 2
Free Guy
The Hobbit
The Hobbit 2

I know everyone and their brother is obsessed with the John Wick movies and for good reason! They were really awesome movies, with some great guns and shit. The fighting to me was comical because it was maybe just realistic instead of crazy Hollywood fake shit. I wasn't used to that style of fighting but after the first movie and onto the second, I got used to it and enjoyed it. I am looking forward to when the 4th one becomes available On Demand!

The other movies that stand out from the pack in here are the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. That movie series is really awesome! I have heard of it in the past but I never watched one of them until one night I was looking for something different and happened upon it. I was really glad that I gave it a shot! I'm a pretty good Harry Potter fan but the movies are definitely done and hopefully they don't make any additional ones in that series. What I do love is when directors and the writers take another storyline and run with it! It was cool to see some of the other elements of the Dumbledore world and where things were in prequel mode, but at the same time a different storyline.

The Beasts movie really surprised me, it had such good content in it and I was hooked on the storyline. I will have to look and see if they have books out, I'm sure they do, because I would love to also read the books. Granted I don't really have time to read books.. but I can aspire to get the time back one day LOL. The second movie, the Gringelvald or whatever, was great! I was SHOCKED that the evil character dude was NOT Johnny Depp LOL he looked so much like him it was insane! When I looked up who it was later though, I was also thinking "oh yeah" because I'm familiar with the actor, he's got some good shit in his library. I'm looking forward to seeing the Fantastic Beasts 3rd movie in the series but it's not out yet for me On Demand and free. I ain't paying for shit when it comes to movies LOL my cable bill is expensive as fuck as it is!

I did make sure to add in a bit of alternative stuff to the movies though! I love watching some good old fashioned comedies. Daddys Home 2 I've seen before I realized as I was finishing the movie up, but I don't think I saw it from start to finish. That was a great movie, I enjoyed it and I loved seeing some great actors in it like Mel Gibson who I haven't seen in much of since he was blackballed by the Hollywood assholes.

Free Guy was another good funny movie - I think Ryan Reynolds is a great actor and he produces some pretty solid movies. The dude has the right balance of humor and action which is great! I thought the movie did a really good job at portraying the struggle of the sentient AI but also the general hilarity that Ryan adds to his movies with a touch of romance even though it was with a computer program. Overall this was a movie I would recommend to other people for sure! It was light but a storyline that you could get behind and follow through to the end.

I did have some other good but random movies like Hellboy and Mortal Kombat which were both great solid movies. I loved the storyline of the latest Mortal Kombat - it was good to see the Japanese dude that is famous for those types of movies come in for this one. I don't know his name but he's likely one of the most famous Japanese actors out there. He did a great job! Hellboy was cool, I enjoyed the early versions of the movie and this latest one did the job, it had action and it also had the dude from John Wick in it which was a fun coincidence! The Hobbit movies I saw in the past but I wanted to give them another watch, and wasn't disappointed. The whole Hobbit and LOTR series is just such a phenomenal batch of movies! Unrivaled, really!

I've got a couple other movies that I'm going to be checking out in the coming days and weeks, hopefully some old but new movies to me. I don't really watch movies too often but do try to indulge in one a week if I can!

oh yeah, Liza and I love the John Wick movies...that first one is amazing. The one we recently watched, Saltburn...man, I don't know if i'd recommend it. It was fascinating yet highly disturbing - lots of elite conspiracy things going on in the background

Hahah well shit looks like I’m going to have to figure out if I can watch it. Is it on a streaming platform? I don’t waste my money on those.

I liked the wick movies for sure - just old fashioned carnage. Nothing more nothing less lol

me gusta john wick, aunque me encanta las pelicuals viejas y repetidas de verdad esas de los ochenta y noventa jajaja fotos hermosas gracias por compartir

Yeah I enjoy older movies too! There’s a lot of good ones from the 1990’s for sure! Rambo and those movies are amazing

avatar

Due to a lot of work I have on my hands academically, it has actually prevented me to watch some movies I will have love to watch but trusting I will definitely resume back

avatar

Yeah I hear you man. I haven’t watched movies much in the past few years because of family being more important. Now that things have gotten a little easier I enjoy it every now and then!

avatar

There are really some great movies that have been released this past few years that I've also haven't created the time to watch. Free Guy movie has really interesting storyline that's resonates well with the modern era.

avatar

Hahah yeah the free guy one was interesting and it was released before the AI craze. I know that AI has been around for quite a while now but not as much in the forefront of our thought. I wonder if they released it knowing that it was coming soon?

There have been some good movies for sure. Lots of absolutely dumpster trash movies as well, far more than good movies but still some movies worth watching which is good!

avatar

I think yes, probably. They knew what was coming or had a glimpse of it. Perhaps, the movie could've also been created for prediction purposes?

Right, I've noticed the trend of dumpster trash movies as well lol. Many of them these days have lost the essence of what movies are about as they try to promote ideologies that aren't coherent with reality.

avatar

Here's a no more secret, I barely watched John Wick full but I keep making conversation based on snippets I watched haha. I keep falling asleep during that movie, maybe one of these days I get to watch it again.

avatar

Hahah there are parts that aren’t very entertaining that’s for sure. You may watch it all one day or you may fall asleep again lol

avatar

I’ve never watched John Wick movies but I heard that they are interesting
Good things never get old
I may give it a watch

avatar

It is a pretty good movie! I would recommend it for sure.

Not watching many movies for more than a year is a real work of dedication and being responsible: and it is just to have enough time with your son, that's so cool man.

All movies you listed are very interesting ones, though I haven't watched Free Guy, Hellboy and The Hobbit.

The dude has the right balance of humor and action which is great!

I have watched other movies of Ryan Reynolds and I totally agree to this. Guy is really good at mixing humor with action.

avatar

Yeah I like Ryan Reynolds's he's a good actor. I think he's got a really unique and funny style!

My son is far more important to me than all of these distractions. I also try to never be on my phone when I'm around him because he deserves my attention as much as possible!

avatar

Yeah, Ryan Reynold has his unique style.

he deserves my attention as much as possible!

Respect!!🙌🙌

avatar

a golden collection of movies

I do the same with my son bow - I watch old cartoons and movies with him that I watched when I was a kid;) 1990-1995 years. Yesterday we were watching "Betkhoven" about a dog, a great family comedy, one of my favourite ones.
Do you remember it?:)

avatar

I think I might have seen that one I'll have to see a picture of it though! I try to focus my content on him and age appropriate stuff. I don't listen to any inappropriate music with him such as rap and swearing and stuff and I watch shows and movies that are kid focused. There's enough time later for that grown up stuff, I want him to enjoy his childhood as much as he can. It sounds like you so the same with your son so good for you!

avatar

I love the view after the snowfall when there is snow all over the trees and it's so much fun to see, one day I will shift to a place like this.

avatar

Yeah man for sure winter is a wonderful time for pictures!
