As much as I loved cartoons, animated sit-com series were a hard pass for me as I deemed them too long, never ending and becomes uninteresting after years of repetition/recycling old materials. However this ideology was soon disregarded the moment I experienced what peak storytelling was in the form of arguable on of the best animated sit-com series known to the human race - FUTURAMA.

With a rich history of 8 seasons filled with numerous cancellations and revivals, the series proves that when a product is good and has devoted supporters, it will definitely beat the odds even when it seems impossible.

Centered primarily on the sci-fi genre, Futurama is known for having a really impressive first episode that has its way of captivating it's audience right from the jump. It starts off in 1999 new years eve where a pizza delivery guy by the name Philip J Fry (protagonist) was experiencing the worst out of life. He had a crappy job, his girlfriend left him and no one respects.

On one of his usual deliveries at a cryogenics lab, he accidentally stumbles into a cryogenic pod freezing him in stasis for a thousand years and waking up in the year 2999 to a more technologically advanced version of New York (Now New New York).

Excited about this new opportunity to change his lab he learns that this new society offers you jobs based on what it feels you are good at and unfortunately for him even the future feels he should remain a delivery boy🤣🤣. Fry rejects the job running away from his career chip and Leela the officer in charge of planting it.

On the run from Leela he befriends an alcoholic Robot named Bender Bending Rodriguez who helps him evade his pursuers until he finally gives after realizing he has nowhere to run to.

Leela takes pity on him and also admits she also hates her job and life because has no idea who she truly is. Fry suggests they go meet his only living relative, a great great grand nephew in the person of Professor Hubert Fansworth who is already an elderly person. Professor Fansworth offers them a job in is delivery company - Planet Express after loosing all his previous employees. The job was just a side hustle he uses to sponsor his research but it plays a major occurrence in the entirety of the series. Leela (a supposed alien with one eye) was made the captain and pilot of the company's space ship while Fry was made the delivery boy, a job was running away from earlier. However this time he accepts the job with Job as he won't just be going door to door but different planets as well.

Still on the run from the police, all four members of planet express quickly board the spaceship blasting off into space the exact same moment the countdown for the new year into the year 3000 ends, what a way to wrap up an impressive pilot episode. The series progresses with multiple episodes of how Fry struggles to fit in in the future, meeting new people and displaying his loyalty, good-hearted nature despite his childlike personality.

The pilot episode is hypnotic and will definitely reel anyone in as it is immensely satirical and captivating. The creators did not miss and for that I'll give it a solid 10
Thanks guys.

Looks like some kind of Simpsons vibes going on here. I've always enjoyed sitcoms and I something tells me I'll be enjoying this too.

In my opinion Futurama is way better than the Simpsons and their jokes are always on point
Give it a try
