Movie Review: Sound of Freedom
Sound of Freedom is a 2023 American crime action thriller film directed and co-written by Alejandro Monteverde, and starring Jim Caviezel, Mira Sorvino and Bill Camp. Caviezel plays Tim Ballard, a former U.S. government agent who embarks on a mission to rescue children from sex traffickers in Colombia.[5] It is produced by Eduardo Verástegui, who also plays a role in the film. The plot centers around Ballard's Operation Underground Railroad, an anti-sex trafficking organization.
The film was released on July 4, 2023, by Angel Studios. It was a sleeper hit, becoming one of the most successful independent films in history.[6] It has grossed $212 million against a $14.5 million from its budget. Receiving mixed reviews from critics, while audience reception has been highly positive.
Movie Points:
Good
Despite Subject Manner, it manage to tell The ugliness of the subject with grace and implied telling using silence, long shots and cinematography to fill in the blanks on what did happen.
BadCinematography is excellent, the usage of fix point and camera angles that long pause really extends the tension of the story
Chemistry and the Comradery of Jim Caviezel, Bill Camp as (Vampiro) and Javier Godino (Jorge) very refreshing and also fun to watch.
The Performances of the Child Actors was also phenominal since they really sell the horror of the situation of the film
The Elobrate and risky schemes to rescue the kids from Beach Raid was quite satisfying also it was based on the true story that also includes a former Miss Colombia rounding up children and most importantly based on true events.
Bad
- The length of the movie is quite daunting and you feel like there was padding in the movie.
