I confess that I was quite surprised to discover, in addition to his death, that it wasn't today but practically a week ago. This type of situation is common in Japan from what I learned when I quickly researched here, especially from someone like Akira who had great influence. The Japanese press and authorities are trying to hold off as long as possible so that his family has the comfort to carry out the necessary procedures for his departure.

In a way of paying homage to this legend of the Geek World, I will present a little of his work and the impact that his timeless works had not only on me as a declared fan, but on a generation that grew up watching Dragon Ball. With its epic narrative, captivating characters and unique artistic style. His remarkable contribution to pop culture and the entertainment industry is unparalleled in every way.

Dragon Ball: The Worldwide Phenomenon:

It's practically impossible to talk about Akira Toriyama without mentioning Dragon Ball. His masterpiece of the Shonen genre made Toriyama a great influencer of generations, winning the hearts of millions of fans around the world. For those who don't know, the anime's story tells about the saga of Goku and his friends in search of the Dragon Balls that, together, fulfill any wish the person asks for.

I remember it as if it were yesterday... When I was a child I used to watch Dragon Ball on TV at home and you can see how the story was told and how the adventures happened. As I grew up, the characters also grew and I thought that was really cool and that's why nowadays the Shonen genre is so captivating, because you literally grow along with the main characters.

I got tired of watching an episode so many times and I wanted to get there the next day to talk to my friends at school and the expectation was always high to see the next episode. The curious thing about all this was that as I was very young, I didn't have much of a sense of time and now as an adult, I realize that the episodes were very fast. On average 22 minutes, not counting the opening, the commercial that played in the middle of each episode. Today, as a big fan of films and series, this time for each episode would be enough to watch several at once.

Favorite Saga

The Freeza Saga: This is without a doubt the one I liked the most, as it has one of the most iconic arcs in the Dragon Ball Z series. Due to its intense battles, striking deaths and the incessant search for the Dragon Balls on the planet Namekusei, The series features the villain Freeza, one of the cruelest to ever exist in DB.

Remarkable Scenes from the Freeza Saga

Kurillin's death: I know he had already died before and returned because of the Dragon Balls in Piccolo Daimaoh Saga, but the way he died in front of Goku was very cruel on Frieza's part, that being was very cruel in my opinion hahaha... To this day it was something that remained a strong part of my childhood.

Proud Vegeta: One of the characters that evolved the most in my opinion was Vegeta and in this saga, in his moment of farewell, his heroic sacrifice, fighting to the end against Freeza and asking Goku to avenge his people, is certainly an emotional moment that still reminds me today.

Goku and Frieza's battle: One of the most memorable scenes that I will leave as a memory in this article was the final battle between Goku and Frieza. With the planet Namekusei being destroyed every second, the battle became more and more deadly and the highlight was undoubtedly Goku's transformation into a Super Saiyan for the first time, finally managing to defeat the tyrant Frieza.

Legacy and Lasting Impact

Over the years, since the end of Dragon Ball, Toriyama's lasting impact has only grown, surpassing the limits of manga and anime, today it is possible to find several adaptations, spin-offs and films that continue to captivate audiences all over the world and this influences so many young people and adults and this phenomenon continues for generations.

I've even been able to watch all the Dragon Ball sagas with my children, it was cool to be able to watch them again and of course not have to wait for the next day to arrive. It's funny that I told my children this and said that we weren't going to watch it anymore, only tomorrow and they started to complain hahaha... It's funny to see that today, through Streaming, our lives are much easier.

Hoje, sexta-feira, dia 08 de março de 2024, recebemos a confirmação do falecimento de Akira Toriyama, mas apesar de que essa notícia se espalhou rapidamente no mundo, sua morte foi no dia 1º de março.

Confesso que fiquei bastante surpreso ao descobrir além de sua morte, de que não foi hoje e sim há praticamente uma semana atrás. É comum no Japão esse tipo de situação pelo que soube ao pesquisar aqui rapidamente, principalmente de alguém como Akira que tinha grande influência. A imprensa e as autoridades japonesas tentam segurar o maior tempo possível para que sua família tenha o conforto para fazer os procedimentos necessários para sua partida.

Em uma forma de homenagear essa lenda do Mundo Geek, apresentarei um pouco de sua obra e o impacto que seus trabalhos atemporais causaram não apenas para mim como um fã declarado, mas para uma geração que cresceu assistindo Dragon Ball. Com sua narrativa épica, personagens cativantes e estilo artístico único. Sua notável contribuição para a cultura pop e a indústria do entretenimento é incomparável em todos os sentidos.

Dragon Ball: O Fenômeno Mundial:

É praticamente impossível falar sobre Akira Toriyama sem mencionar Dragon Ball. Sua obra-prima do gênero Shonen tornou Toriyama um grande influenciador de gerações conquistando o coração de milhões de fãs em todo o mundo. Para quem não sabe, a história do anime conta sobre a saga de Goku e seus amigos em busca das Esferas do Dragão que reunidas, realiza qualquer desejo que a pessoa pedir.

Lembro como se fosse ontem... Quando eu era criança eu costumava assistir na TV de casa Dragon Ball e fica vislumbrado como a história era contada e como as aventuras aconteciam. Na medida que fui crescendo, os personagens também cresciam e achava bem legal isso e por isso que hoje em dia o gênero Shonen é tão cativante por isso, pois você literalmente cresce junto com os personagens principais.

Cansei de tantas vezes assistir a um episódio e já queria chegar no dia seguinte para conversar com meus amigos na escola e a expectativa sempre era alta para ver o episódio seguinte. O curioso disso tudo era que como eu era bem novo, não tinha muito a noção do tempo e hoje adulto, percebo que os episódios eram muito rápidos. Em média 22 minutos sem contar com abertura, comercial que passava no meio de cada episódio. Hoje como um grande fã de filmes e séries, esse tempo de cada episódio daria para assistir vários de uma vez.

Saga Preferida

A Saga de Freeza: Essa sem dúvidas é a que mais gostei, pois possui um dos arcos mais icônicos da série Dragon Ball Z. Por suas batalhas intensas, mortes marcantes e a busca incessante das Esferas do Dragão no planeta Namekusei, a série apresenta o vilão Freeza, um dos mais cruéis que já existiu em DB.

Morte de Kuririn: Sei que ele já tinha morrido anteriormente e retornado por causa das Esferas de Dragão na Saga Piccolo Daimaoh, mas a forma como ele morreu diante de Goku foi muito cruel da parte do Freeza, esse ser era muito cruel na minha opinião hahaha... Até hoje foi algo que ficou bem marcado na minha infância.

Vegeta Orgulhoso: Um dos personagens que mais evoluiu na minha opinião foi o Vegeta e nesta saga, em seu momento de despedia, o seu sacrifício heroico lutando até o fim contra Freeza e pedindo para que Goku vingasse seu povo, é certamente um momento emocionante que me faz lembrar até hoje.

A batalha de Goku e Freeza: Uma das cenas mais marcantes que deixarei como memória neste artigo foi a batalha final entre Goku e Freeza. Com o planeta Namekusei sendo destruído a cada segundo, a batalha ficava cada vez mais mortal e o ponto alto sem dúvidas foi a transformação pela primeira vez de Goku em um Super Saiyajin, conseguindo enfim derrotar o tirano do Freeza.

Legado e Impacto Duradouro

Ao longo dos anos, desde o encerramento de Dragon Ball, o impacto duradouro de Toriyama só cresceu, ultrapassou os limites do mangá e do anime, hoje é possível encontrarmos diversas daptações, spin-offs e filmes que continuam a cativar audiências em todo o mundo e isso influencia tantos jovens e adultos e esse fenômeno segue por gerações.

Inclusive eu já pude assistir com meus filhos todas as sagas de Dragon Ball, foi legal poder assistir novamente e claro, não ter que precisar esperar o outro dia chegar. É engraçado que eu contava isso para os meus filhos e dizia que não iríamos mais assistir, só amanhã e ele começavam a reclamar hahaha... É engraçado ver que hoje através dos Streamings a nossa vida está muito mais fácil.

Akira Toriyama é muito mais do que apenas um artista de mangá. Ele é um visionário cuja criatividade e imaginação fizeram com que suas obras ultrapassarem as barreiras do tempo e não importa quando, sempre será lembrado como um dos maiores de e mais brilhantes artistas do gênero.
