Yes the window of stardom is limited if you don't follow it up with other top films and he was obviously a one hit wonder. Macauley Culkin was a kid star, but he disappeared of the scene quite quickly and I thankfully have never seen him starring as an adult. Maybe he produces or something behind the scenes or made so much he doesn't have to. I think the likes of Bruce Willis, Arnold and Sylvester love the limelight so much they would hate to lose this.

Culkin was an unusual case in that he didn't get pushed out by Hollywood, he was still a big star but just walked away. he was in a lot more than just Home Alone.

Furlong was in a couple of films that were good like "American History X" but he garnered a reputation for being extremely difficult to work with and developed a bad drug problem too... so he kind of eliminated himself.

I admire Macauley, he could have had so much more but didn't feel like it and just walked away. I guess he was smart with his money because can you believe that he gets zero royalties from Home Alone? He was just starting out and was probably just thrilled to be in a starring role. He was paid a one time fee of $110,000 for his most famous role. He was paid 4.5 million for Home Alone 2. A big part of the reason, apparently, why he left acting was because his father was abusive on set and pushed him really hard in the industry - according to Macauley himself.
