Mike Myers Is a VERY Versatile Actor 🤩🤩🤩
Recently, I had a moment of madness watching Mike Myers in Austin Powers. I had never actually seen his films, but for some reason, a lot of reels from all the films about the intrepid secret agent kept popping up, and this gave me something beyond the algorithm. Well, after showing this secret agent, they started showing "The Cat," the iconic character we all know. But being a kid back then, I had no interest in these kinds of movies.
Recientemente, tuve un momento de locura al ver a Mike Myers en Austin Power. Realmente nunca había visto sus películas, pero por algún motivo estuvo apareciendo muchos reels de todas las películas del intrépido agente secreto y esto me dio más allá del algoritmo. Pues después de mostrar a este agente secreto, empezaron a mostrar sobre “El Gato”, el personaje icónico que todos conocemos, pero yo al ser una niña, en aquel entonces, no tuve ningún interés en este tipo de películas.
After discovering that the Austin Power movies are currently on Prime Video, I started watching them, and I actually enjoyed them. Although what I liked the least was Austin Power, I really enjoyed the random Dr. Evil character. This character made me laugh a lot because he is an exaggeration in the context of what it is to be a villain, this being without a doubt the best character in the movie. And under my ignorance, I discovered that the characters are played by the same actor, surprising me that my favorite and the one I don't, are the same person.
Después de descubrir que las películas de Austin Power están hasta este momento en Prime Video, comencé a verlas, y realmente sí las disfruté. Aunque lo que menos me gustó fue Austin Power, si no que disfruté mucho lo random del Dr. Evil (Dr. Malito en Latinoamérica), este personaje me hizo reír mucho porque es una exageración en el contexto de lo que es ser un villano, siendo este sin duda alguna el mejor personaje de la película; y bajo mi ignorancia, descubrí que los personajes son interpretados por el mismo actor, sorprendiéndome que mi favorito y el que no, son la misma persona.
And after watching all the movies, in a short Facebook video, I couldn't help but notice that "The Cat" has expressions that made me compare him to Austin Powers, which made me curious. After searching Google and seeing that the latter was played by the same actor, I started watching it on Netflix, since it's part of their catalog. The Cat is a movie about an imaginary, anthropomorphic creature that appears when children are bored. He claims he could find solutions for these moments of having nothing to do. Despite sounding fun, he ends up leading everyone into chaos.
Y luego de haber visto todas las películas. En un video corto de Facebook, no pude evitar que “El Gato” tiene expresiones que me hicieron compararlo con Austin Power, lo cual me genero curiosidad, luego de entrar a Google, y ver que este era interpretado por el mismo actor, pues comencé a verla en Netflix, ya que esta hace parte de su catálogo. El Gato es una película sobre un ser imaginario y antropomórfico que aparece cuando los niños están aburridos. Este asegura que podría encontrar soluciones para estos momentos sin nada que hacer, a pesar de que suena divertido, este termina llevando al caos a todos.
Some say this cat movie is terrible, but others claim it's excellent, but this is due to the perspective from which the film is viewed. You could say it has no lesson behind it that makes you reflect or anything like that, and in fact, the entire film makes it seem that way until the end. While the Cat is an irresponsible being, he ultimately teaches them that irresponsibility leads to serious consequences that must be faced and resolved.
Hay quienes dicen que esta película del gato es pésima, pero hay otros que aseguran que esta película es excelente, pero esto se debe a la perspectiva en la que se ve la película. Se puede decir que esta no tiene ninguna enseñanza detrás que te haga reflexionar o algo así, y de hecho toda la película lo hace ver así hasta su final. Si bien El Gato es un ser irresponsable, este al final les enseñanza que la irresponsabilidad es algo que lleva a graves consecuencias que si bien hay que enfrentar y solucionar.
The problem is that these films can come across as irreverent, something that seems very common in the comedy they feature. While both films have countless jokes that are highly sexual in nature, The Cat is a bit more sensitive about this topic, and actually censors it for the sake of the children to whom this episode was intended. There are several jokes that, as an adult, you can't let go.
La cuestión es que estas películas pueden llegar a parecer irreverentes, algo que parece muy frecuente en la comedia que estas muestran. Si bien ambas películas tienen un sin fin de chistes que son altamente de carácter sexual, El Gato es un poco más delicado con este tema, y en realidad, tiene censurado este tema por el bien de los niños al que iba dedicado este tema. Hay varios chistes que, al ser adulto, no puedes dejar pasar.

STOPMuy poco we habla del gran talento que tiene Mike Myers para interpretar roles humorísticos, sarcásticos y hasta complejos. Las película que mencionas en este post son las que lo llevaron a la fama en su momento y lo catalogaron en la industria como uno de los genios de la comedia americana de este último siglo. Lamentablemente, debido a lo mal visto que está dicho género de la comedia en este lado del charco, se desprestigia mucho el talento que estos actores tienen.
En el caso de Mike muchos de los que conocemos su labor actoral sabemos que hay papeles que ha interpretado que no se le atribuyeron debidamente su merecido reconocimiento y hay quienes se olvidan que el mismo que interpreta a Austin Power es el mismo que interpreta al famoso Ogro de DreamWorks, Shrek. Porque sí, este personaje también lo interpreta (o le da voz) el mismísimo Mike Myers y muchos no saben eso.
