Prey || Primitive life, primitive weapons, advanced enemy!

I may have a wannabe of the past, such as a primitive life and hunting with primitive weapons in order to exist, to protect oneself. How do I understand this? Of course, I understand it from the films I watch, which are about natural life and the vital difficulties such as sheltering and feeding.

Released in 2022, the film Prey is about a Comanche girl named Naru (played by Amber Midthunder), who tries to prove herself in a primitive life by hunting with primitive weapons. Originally raised as a healer, Naru has a special desire to hunt and is trying to prove herself in this field.

While the film highlights hunting with primitive weapons such as arrows and axes, it reflects the struggle of the tribe members who are threatened by the sudden arrival of a predator-like creature in the forest where they hunt. During the film, I was more interested in the struggle for survival in the natural environment with primitive weapons rather than the predator-like creature.

Those who watch Predator films know how many firearms are used in the fight against it. In the film Prey, since the story takes place in the 1700s, the fight against the predator-like creature is carried out with limited primitive weapons, which causes it to attract more attention. I should add that at least the last sentence is valid for me.

There is nothing impossible in nature. There are so many herbs, weapons, weapons, hiding places, food supply and similar difficulties that can be used that the only thing to do is to adopt and experience the primitive life in nature.

It was possible to come across in the film the inspirations from the MacGyver series I watched years ago. I still remember MacGyver's grenade made of swamp gas. In every episode, he would create opportunities for himself from the opportunities around him. As someone who closely followed the series, I would have liked it very much.

Although the story in the film Prey is not like the MacGyver series, I think that the environment is well used against the spontaneous events in the surrounding nature.

In my childhood, the bows and arrows we made from chaste branches because of their flexibility could go at the speed of a bullet and go far enough to entertain us even if they did not pierce someone's body. Later, I remember that we used to crush the soda cap with a stone and compress it with the help of a stone to cover the tip of the arrow. This process made the arrow go straighter when we shot the arrow from the bow because of the weight on the tip of the arrow.

I don't want to evaluate the film Prey in terms of acting and director because I can't question how much they contribute to the film in terms of plus or minus value. The real face of Amber Midthunder in the character of Naru cannot be seen too much because of the paint she constantly applies to her face. I cannot say that her acting or the film is very good. But I think the film can be watched even to see the primitive life in nature and the use of primitive weapons during hunting. If you are curious about past primitive lives like me, you should definitely watch it.

I give the film more plus points for taking me back to the MacGyver series I watched in my childhood and the primitive weapons I tried to make in my childhood with some of its scenes. If a film manages to draw you in and makes you remember your past, that film is a good film, regardless of the score, actors, director. The film Prey achieved this for me, I don't know what it will achieve for you!

I've heard good things about this movie. Hulu has been pretty consistent in its decade plus existence. It's always impressive to see primitive weapons and teamwork beat lone high-tech enemies.
