To get away from the modern world - The Scythian
I'm sure there are many ways to escape from the modern world, but I'm not sure I want to do it physically. As such, I can escape from the modern world spiritually, mentally or with my eyes through movies, all in the comfort and convenience of my home.
The Scythian, a 2018 Russian film about the Scythians in Central Asia, where one civilization replaces another, one is destroyed while another is established, and a new era is about to begin, was an opportunity to experience this escape.
Although I liked the movie in terms of location, costumes and acting, I watched the movie to the end, even though it didn't have the effect I expected because of the deficiencies and illogical mistakes in the story. In terms of evaluation, I think it would be unfair if I call the movie mediocre, and more unfair if I call it successful. It was a little above average, and it was just one of the productions that can be watched with the fantasy and action genre when fluency and logic are not sought in the story.
I can't say that it is a must-see movie. Lutobor (played by Aleksey Faddeev), one of the main characters, contributed to the success of the movie with his family to protect and his newborn baby.
The biggest weakness of Lutobor, who is one of the important names of the righteousness with the path he followed from the beginning to the end of the movie, was his weak leader appearance that could not foresee the betrayal and intrigues he suffered. The character moves from weak to strong with his upward momentum from where he started, but it is not enough for the Scythians he belongs to.
Another character that stood out and was my favorite was Vseslav (played by Alexander Patsevich). The way he manages to become one of the main heroes of the story while being a prisoner and his unique action style was quite successful.
I recommend you to watch the movie for the costumes and the atmosphere created, but in terms of editing and the flow of the story, the movie was a failure. That's why I suggest you make your own decision after this article where I evaluate the pros and cons.
I achieved my goal in my choice of watching the movie to get away from the modern world. I want to say that I especially liked the atmosphere created.
