Elite-level comedy on Hulu πŸ‘€

Here recently I got extremely lucky and stumbled upon two of my favorite comedy tv shows ever. Streaming apps are chock-full of different options. It can be quite cumbersome to sort through it all, especially when many of the platforms do not have the greatest UI to navigate through. That is why I feel quite a bit lucky to have found both of the shows I want to talk about today.

I will not be spoiling the plot of either show, but I do think I'll be able to provide enough incentive to get you interested enough to give both a shot.

The two shows I'll be talking about today are...

What We Do In The Shadows
and
Reboot

Shall we get started?

What We Do In The Shadows πŸ§›πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ§›πŸΌπŸ§›πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

A look into the daily (or rather nightly) lives of four vampires who've lived together on Staten Island for over a century. Source

I'm not sure how I managed to sleep on this show for multiple years. It originally started in 2019 and Season 4 has just concluded with more seasons already confirmed. It's rated a powerful 8.6/10 on IMDb. If it's not clear already that this show is a killer, then let me explain further.

These aren't your ordinary vampires. They are absolutely filthy and absurd creatures of the night. You get three vampires which have been around for thousands of years. Nandor works as a leader of sorts. Then there is Nadja and Laszlo who are a sex-crazed couple who have been through it all together. Colin Robinson is also a vampire, but not the blood-drinking type. He is an energy vampire and by far the most mundane person in the entire world. He's so boring that he's absolutely hilarious. Lastly, there is the trustworthy Guillermo. He is the familair aka servant of Nandor and will do anything for the household and takes jab after jab from these vampires.

I shit you not when I say every single episode of this show is outrageously funny. It follows a similar cycle of something like Family Guy or other comedy shows like that. Each episode is a totally different story and sometimes not even related to the previous one. You will see the same 5 main characters, but many other guests. Some are quite familiar actors that make small appearances in this show. That just tells you how high the quality is on this one, a few big-time actors just want to say they were in it even if only for an episode.

I'm about to start season 3 and can't wait to see what else is in store for these vampires. If you like raunchy humor and all things vampire-related, then What We Do In The Shadows is a match made in heaven (or hell) for you.

Reboot 🎬🀣

Follows an early 2000s family sitcom that Hulu has rebooted and its dysfunctional cast that must deal with their unresolved issues in today's fast-changing world. Source

This show just concluded its first season and it went surprisingly very well. The rating is a 7.5 on IMDb and I think that's accurate. It's not quite as good as the vampire show, but it's still really great.

The idea of Reboot is somewhat confusing until you all of a sudden just get it. Basically, it's a show within a show. The series follows actors in Hollywood making a reboot of a classic family sitcom. This sitcom never actually existed in real life, but other than that it's like you're on set for a tv show most of the time.

The plot follows several different characters, the stand-out being Keegan-Michael Key as Reed Sterling. All of these must come together after many years of separation and drama. Some used to date, others were a child the last time they were face to face, and there are a few new additions as well.

The thing I like about this show so much is that it pits the old-school ways of comedy with this new woke culture comedy that is often so annoying. The two sides go head to head when two polar opposites Hannah and her dad Gordon who abonded her at a young age both get control over the show. He wishes to stick to the roots of the show, while she aims to modernize it. That is just one of many conflicts within this show, all of which are quite comical.

This show may not be quite as easy to love as What We Do In The Shadows, but Reboot is still very much worth your time.

Have you watched either of these tv series yet❓

I'm very curious to know if any of you have also stumbled upon either of these shows. If you are like me and have watched a lot of both, I'd love to know which of these you prefer.

For me, it has to be What We Do In The Shadows. It is quite possibly my favorite little comedy tv show to ever exist. No wonder it is already confirmed to have a 5th season that will most likely air during the summer of 2023.

I haven't watched these series yet, but since I love comedies, it's worth giving them a chance. I think I might especially like Reboot because I've always been attracted to quality sitcoms. Thanks for sharing man.

Either one is well worth your time, but What We Do In The Shadows is superior and has 42 episodes for you to binge at any time.

What we do in the shadows is awesome. There is actually a movie with the same name that came before the series and started it all afaik. I recently started watching Reboot. Only 1 episode in so far but seems like it will be dope. Glad others are watching these awesome shows.

Dude so hyped to know you've watched What We Do In The Shadows. I ran into a guy in a COD lobby the other day and his name was Jackie Daytona. Right away I thought of the episode where Laszlo runs away from the house and starts running a bar and becomes obsessed with the local volleyball team. The show is genius.

I've never seen the movie before but did see mention of it online while researching the show.

Reboot is pretty awesome too, I really hope there is a second season. I'm sure it will since it's been pretty successful so far.

I haven't seen either show yet but I liked the movie version of What we do in the Shadows, so I would definitely give it a go. The Reboot show sounds interesting and like it would be really funny. Things have changed a lot in the last 20 years so dealing with that in show creation would be very challenging I'm sure. We watch old sitcoms all the time and I always think to myself - they could never get away with this today 🀣

I will definitely be watching the What We Do In The Shadows movie at some point.

avatar

It's good for a laugh. I loved the begining. It fell apart for me a little in the back half like many comedies do, but still worth checking out.

avatar

I have not been lucky enough to see either of the two series you mention, but the way you describe it, they have the necessary ingredients to capture the user and make them spend very funny moments.

Thanks for sharing and recommending this type of entertainment dear @daltono
.

Greetings...

I haven’t seen What We Do in Shadows yet, but Reboot is awesome. Jordan Peele is a genius with his filmmaking.

avatar

Bro, I'm telling you now What We Do In The Shadows is one of the greatest shows I've ever watched. No exaggeration, it's totally hilarious and clever as can be.

avatar

I will have to give it a shot this weekend. We are all caught up in Reboot, so it will be fun to have another show in the meantime to watch. Have you ever seen Schmigadoon? It’s really cool. It’s on Apple TV.

avatar

No, I have not, but from the trailer, I just watched it looks great. I hadn't heard of it until you mentioned it. I love Keegan-Michael Key.

avatar

It’s hilarious. They basically stumble into a world that is a musical.

avatar

Reboot have some good actors!! definitely worth to watch!! i have a hulu so i will give them a try

avatar

Both shows are excellent, but if I had to recommend only one it'd be What We Do In The Shadows. The episodes are only like 20-25 minutes and it's a lot easier to just keep watching than the longer episodes of Reboot.

avatar

These comedy series I didn't know, I'm going to add them to the list. The Vampire series seems interesting, I went to look for the trailer and it looks cool πŸ˜‚. Thanks for the recommendations!

avatar

You will love them, I hope you get a chance to start watching them soon.

avatar

I love to watch comedy series alot because it makes you key into it and make one attracted as you watch

avatar

Good TV shows to enjoy and laugh a little, everything can't be work we also need some time to relax

avatar

Some time ago I watched the first season of "What we do in the Shadows" and it is too good, the cliffhanger at the end of the season I thought it was great, but I don't know why I didn't watch it anymore; these days I must sit down and enjoy this very good series.

avatar

It stays as good as that first season and I have yet to get tired of it. I love the show so much.

avatar

to look for them and see how they are to enjoy a good time of distraction

avatar

When I first heard of the premiere of "What we do in the shadows", I thought it was going to be a 'let down'. Wow! I was fully impressed with the series. The actors and the scriptwriters did a fantastic hands down. Guillarmo is one of my favorite characters in the series. How he keeps everything moving along in a smooth flow is amazing. This series is one of the best series with good comedy I have seen so far.

"Reboot", I have not seen it before and I'll look into it. Thank you for the recommendations. I enjoyed reading your post.

avatar

I wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near as good as it actually is either. The writers and actors both nailed it. I love every character.

Thanks for reading.

πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚πŸ€™ great looking shows. I did see the first season of shadows and it was great. I will re-visit that one for sure.
