I'm a big fan of fictional series and movies, so when I heard about the existence of this series I definitely felt like watching it, but yet another subscription seemed too much, because it's on Paramount + as one of their original productions, frankly it was already too many subscriptions, having to keep Netflix, Disney +, HBO max, Star +, Apple Tv, Spotify is already too much, so until I saw the content that caught my attention from the others I wouldn't subscribe to this one.

Grandes expectativas no cumplidas con la serie Halo

Soy gran fan de las series y peliculas de ficcion, asi que cuando supe de la existencia de esta serie definitivamente sentí deseos de verla, pero otra suscripción mas me parecia demasiado, porque se encuentra en Paramount + como una de sus producciones originales, francamente ya eran demasiadas subscripciones, tener que mantener Netflix, Disney +, HBO max, Star +, Apple Tv, Spotify ya es mucho, así que hasta que no viese el contenido que me llamaba la atención de las demás no me suscribiría a esta.

But an opportunity came up for a free trial for 7 days, so I didn't miss it, it would give me enough time to watch this series and also give continuity to another one that just premiered on the same platform, which some time ago I reviewed the first season so soon I will tell you more about its second season as soon as it is finished. From the beginning this series mainly thanks to its launch trailer, caused me a lot of hype, I could see a lot of action accompanied by an interesting plot of humanity being able to travel through space and face beings from other worlds.

Pero llegó una oportunidad de una prueba gratis por 7 dias, asi que no la desaproveche, me daría el tiempo suficiente para poder ver esta serie y también dar continuidad a otra que recién se estrenó en la misma plataforma, que hace ya algún tiempo reseñé la primera temporada así que pronto les contare mas de su segunda temporada apenas termine. De entrada esta serie principalmente gracias a su trailer de lanzamiento, me causo mucho hype, se vei que tendría mucha acción acompañada de una trama interesante de la humanidad siendo capaz de viajar por el espacio y enfrentar seres de otros mundos.

The series doesn't have many familiar faces, at least for me, only two actors are familiar to me from its casting, Pablo Schreiber who is the main character of the series and plays the super soldier Master Chief 117 of an elite group known as Spartan, I saw him act for the first time in the movie Den of Thieves with Gerard Butler and 50 Cent. The other familiar face is the beautiful Natascha McElhone who plays Dr. Catherine Halsey, who I will tell you from the beginning is the best actor, you may know her from series like Designated Survivor and The Crown.

La serie no cuenta con muchas caras conocidas, por lo menos para mi, solo dos actores me son familiares de su casting, Pablo Schreiber que es el protagonista de la serie e interpreta al super soldado Jefe Maestro 117 de un grupo elite conocido como Spartan, a el lo vi actuar por primera vez en la película Den of Thieves junto a Gerard Butler y 50 Cent. La otra cara conocida es la bella Natascha McElhone que interpreta a la Dra. Catherine Halsey, que desde ya les digo es la que mejor lo hace, quizas la conozcan de serie como Designated Survivor y The Crown.

Plot

Halo tells us about the conflict that maintains humanity with an alien race known as Covenant, first hand I don't know why both races are enemies. Humanity has achieved great technological advances but apparently the Covenant has some advantage. The series introduces in its first chapter a planet called Madrigal that houses rebel humans who oppose the "United Nations Space Command" or UNSC for its acronym in English. This planet is visited by a group of Covenant aliens who attack them and are in search of an artifact.

Trama

Halo nos cuenta sobre el conflicto que mantiene la humanidad con una raza alienígena conocida como Covenant, de primera mano no se porque ambas razas son enemigas. La humanidad a logrado grandes avances tecnológicos pero aparentemente el Covenant le lleva algo de ventaja. La serie presenta en su primer capítulo un Planeta llamado Madrigal que alberga humanos rebeldes que se oponen al "Comando Espacial de las Naciones Unidas" o UNSC por sus siglas en ingles. Este planeta recibe la visita de un grupo de alienígenas del Covenant que les ataca y estan en busqueda de un artefacto.

In the midst of the massacre, the super soldiers of the elite group called Spartan arrive, men and women without any kind of feelings who have been genetically modified to be faster, stronger and more lethal. The commando group is made up of John-117, Vannak-134, Riz-028 and Kai-125 which I confess I really liked this theme of the name and the development of them as elite soldiers. They confront the Covenant aliens and manage to get the artifact they were looking for but without avoiding a massacre.

En medio de la masacre, llegan los super soldados del grupo elite llamado Spartan, hombres y mujeres sin ningún tipo de sentimientos que han sido modificados genéticamente para ser mas rápidos, fuertes y letales. El grupo comando está conformado por John-117, Vannak-134, Riz-028 y Kai-125 lo cual confieso que me gusto mucho este tema de los nombre y el desarrollo de ellos como soldados elite. Se enfrenta a los alienígenas del Covenant y logran hacerse con el artefacto que buscaban pero sin evitar una masacre.

This artifact turns out to be a kind of link to what is known as the Halo, apparently it is a place of great peace, a kind of heaven that holds great knowledge and power for those who reach it, or so it seemed to me because the truth isn't very clear because little is said. The fact is that the master chief John-117 has a kind of connection with this artifact, which arouses the curiosity of scientists on earth, wanting to get hold of the mysteries and power it holds, thus triggering a new war between humanity and the covenant for this artifact.

Este artefacto resulta ser una especie de enlace con lo que se conoce como el Halo, al parecer es un lugar de suma paz, una especie de cielo que alberga gran conocimiento y poder para quienes lo alcancen, o eso me parecio a mi porque la verdad no queda muy claro porque poco se dice. El caso es que el jefe maestro John-117 tiene una especie de conexión con este artefacto, que despierta la curiosidad de los científicos en la tierra, queriendo hacerse con los misterios y poder que alberga, desencadenando así una nueva lucha entre la humanidad y el covenant por este artefacto.

Opinion

Being a series based on a video game, I thought that to feel more familiar with its history you should know what is told in the games, but then I learned that it is not part of the historical canon, so it could well see it someone who never played, which is my case, I never played Halo because it is available for Xbox and I have always been a PlayStation user, but I knew that is one of the most successful franchises in the world of video games and that was reason enough for me to see it.

Al ser una serie basado en un videojuego, pensaba que para sentirse mas familiarizado con su historia se debe conocer lo que se relata en los juegos, pero luego supe que no es parte del canon histórico, asi que bien podria verla alguien que jamas jugo, lo cual es mi caso, nunca jugue Halo porque está disponible para Xbox y siempre e sido usuario de PlayStation, pero si sabia que es una de las franquicias mas exitosas del mundo de los videojuegos y eso me era motivo suficiente para verla.

The great detail of seeing this series a year after its release, after such a successful production as The Last of Us, raises the bar a lot when it comes to stories based on video games, which until now had been a great failure in many film projects. The Last of Us showed us how to make a perfect adaptation for fans of the game and for those who would only watch the series, pleasing both groups, but in the case of Halo from my point of view the same didn't happen.

El gran detalle de ver esta serie un año después de su lanzamiento, luego de una producción tan exitosa como The Last of Us, eleva la barra muchísimo cuando se trata de historias basadas en videojuegos, lo que hasta ahora había sido un gran fracaso en muchas proyectos cinematográficos. The Last of Us nos enseño como hacer una perfecta adaptación para los fanáticos de su juego y para aquellos que solo verían la serie, llegando a complacer a ambos grupos, pero con el caso de Halo desde mi punto de vista no ocurrió lo mismo.

The truth is that this story left me with the feeling of seeing something that has already been told many times, but with the difference that now it is told in the Halo universe, a space war, a super soldier who discovers who the real bad guys are, the defenseless who are left in the middle of a conflict but somehow have some relevance, and how humanity with less should do more, maybe for a fan of the game this is really exciting, but as I never played it didn't awaken in me any nostalgia that might have caused me to enjoy it more.

La verdad esta historia me dejó la sensación de ver algo que ya se ha contado muchísimas veces, pero con la diferencia de que ahora se cuenta en el universo de Halo, una guerra espacial, un super soldado que descubre quienes son lo verdaderos malos, los indefensos que quedan en medio de un conflicto pero que de alguna manera tienen algo de relevancia, y como la humanidad con menos debe hacer mas, quizas para un fan del juego esto sea verdaderamente emocionante, pero como nunca lo jugue no despertó en mi ninguna nostalgia que quizás me hubiera ocasionado disfrutarlo mas.

With this I don't mean that I didn't enjoy it, in truth I have liked many other stories that have been copies of something that has already been told many times, but this story didn't cause me great emotion, however, it left enough expectations to know how the story closes and what Halo really is.

Con esto no quiero decir que no la disfrute, en verdad me han gustado muchas otras historias que han sido copias de algo que ya se a contado muchas veces, pero esta historia no me causó gran emoción, sin embargo, dejó las suficientes expectativas para saber cómo cierra la historia y que es realmente el Halo.
