Hijack Season 2: A Sequel That Lives Up to the Original Suspense
I finally finished the second season of Hijack, and it was everything I hoped for. A month ago, I wrote a review mentioning how much I was enjoying the show after only two episodes, noting that if it kept up that momentum, it would be spectacular. First off, if you haven’t seen the first season, I highly recommend watching it first so you can fully grasp what’s going down in this one.

Finalmente termine de ver la segunda temporada de Hijack y ha sido todo lo que esperaba. Hace un mes escribí una reseña donde comentaba lo mucho que me estaba gustando está serie con solo haber visto 2 capitulos, y que si seguí por el orden de ideas que planteaba, sería espectacular. Lo primero que debo resaltar, es que si no haz visto la primera temporada, te recomiendo que lo hagas ya que entenderás mejor lo que ocurre con esta.
The Plot
To recap, Sam Nelson (Idris Elba), a corporate negotiator, finds himself caught in the middle of a subway hijacking. The train is rigged with a bomb, and no passengers are allowed off because they’re being used as leverage to trade for John Bailey-Brown (Ian Burfield). He’s the leader of "The Cheapside Firm," the international syndicate that funded and organized the plane hijacking in Season 1.
Recordemos que Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) un negociador corporativo, se ve envuelto en el secuestro de un tren subterráneo con pasajeros. Dicho tren lleva una bomba y no permite que ninguno pasajero baje porque serán intercambiados por John Bailey-Brown (Ian Burfield), el líder de la organización criminal conocida como "The Cheapside Firm" (la firma de Cheapside), el sindicato internacional que financió y organizó el secuestro del avión en la temporada 1.
We soon realize that Sam isn't the real hijacker; he’s being manipulated into seeking revenge against John Bailey-Brown for the death of his son, Kai. Ultimately, we find out it's Stuart Atterton (Neil Maskell) pulling the strings—he wants payback against both of them for the failed plane hijacking and the death of his brother.
Pronto entendemos que Sam Nelson no es el verdadero secuestrador, esta siendo manipulado con la idea de cobrar venganza contra John Bailey-Brown por la muerte de su hijo Kai. Al final sabemos que es Stuart Atterton (Neil Maskell) que quiere cobrar venganza de los dos por el fallido secuestro del avión en la temporada 1, y por la muerte de su hermano.
My Verdict
Now that the whole plot has been revealed, I can say it had me hooked for most of the episodes, even if some scenes in the train cars felt a bit cliché and repetitive. I thought the subplots were well-developed; the police investigation to find the mastermind was solid, as was the storyline involving Sam’s ex-wife, Marsha (Christine Adams), who was staying under the radar.
Tras develada toda la trama, puedo decir que me tuvo enganchado en la mayoría de los episodios, aunque por momentos habían escenas muy trilladas y repetidas en los vagones del tren. Las subtramas para mí fueron bien desarrolladas, la investigación policial para saber quién era el artífice del secuestro fue buena, al igual que la de Marsha (Christine Adams) la ex-esposa de Sam que permanecía oculta.
The ending was good, but I think it could’ve been better. In most episodes, you really felt Sam's strength and command of the situation, but by the end, he seemed kind of powerless and unsure of what to do. His character lost a bit of steam, which I wasn't a huge fan of. That said, the premise is great—hijacking and revenge plots always make for entertaining TV because the suspense of how it’ll end keeps you on the edge of your seat.
El desenlace fue bueno, pero creo que pudo ser mejor. En la mayoría de los episodios se sentía la fuerza y dominio de Sam (Idris Elba) de la situación, pero luego termina como desarmado sin saber que hacer. Fue un personaje que fue de más a menos y la verdad eso no me gustó mucho. Pero la propuesta de la trama si es muy buena, siempre funciona lo del secuestro y la venganza para hacer algo entretenido en la ficción, porque te mantiene en suspenso por como terminará.
