Since I can remember I like the classes that are related to logic and analysis, I can say that I enjoyed studying physics and mathematics, I'm not a gifted with an IQ of 200, but I defended myself enough to get good qualifications and never reprobate, thanks to this feeling was that the movie Jerry and Marge caught my attention, knowing that it was about the events of a man who thanks to his great mathematical skills was able to determine the odds of winning the lottery and get millions of dollars for it.

Desde que tengo memoria me gustan las cátedras que tienen que ver con la lógica y el análisis, puedo decir que disfrute estudiar fisica y matematicas, no soy un superdotado con un IQ de 200, pero me defendía lo suficiente para obtener buenas calificaciones y nunca reprobar, gracias a este sentimiento fue que la película de Jerry and Marge llamó mi atención, saber que trataba de los acontecimiento de un hombre que gracias a sus grandes habilidades matemáticas fue capaz de determinar las probabilidades de ganar la loteria y obtener millones de dólares por ello.

I'm sure that you, like me, have heard several times people say that mathematics is not useful for life, questions like "What is the Pythagorean theorem good for in life? And many others of any kind. This film, although it is a real life story, is an answer to such questions, how someone, without cheating, used probabilistic calculations to make money, where luck had nothing to do with it.

Estoy seguro que ustedes al igual que yo han escuchado varias veces a personas decir que las matemáticas no sirve para la vida, preguntas como ¿para que me sirve el teorema de Pitágoras en la vida? Y como esa muchas otras de cualquier tipo. Esta película que aunque resulta de una historia de la vida real, es una respuesta a tales preguntas, como alguien sin hacer trampas, se valió de cálculos probabilísticos para ganar dinero, donde la suerte no tuvo nada que ver.

Plot

Jerry Selbee played by the famous Bryan Cranston, is a skilled man who worked for Kellogg's cereal company for 42 years designing boxes that will help to better preserve the cereal. After so many years of work the company retires him and he is left to spend his remaining "golden years" in his small town in Boston. As time goes by, he begins to get bored and finds no meaning to his life. After many years of routine, he notices a lottery advertisement in a local coffee shop and notices that there is a glitch in the game.

Trama

Jerry Selbee interpretado por el famoso Bryan Cranston, es un hábil hombre que trabajó para la compañía de cereales Kellogg’s por 42 años diseñando cajas que colaborarán a conservar mejor el cereal. Luego de tantos años de trabajo la compañía lo jubila y queda para pasar sus "años dorados" que le restan de vida en su pequeño pueblo de Boston. Con el pasar del tiempo empieza aburrirse y no le encuentra sentido a su vida, tras una rutina de muchos años y en cuando en una cafeteria local al observar una publicidad de loteria, nota que hay un fallo en el juego.

Luego de algunos cálculos logra determinar que cuando el premio mayor se se acumula y no hay quien lo gane todo, este se distribuye entre mas billetes de lotería en pequeñas cantidades, lo que aumenta la probabilidad de ganar. Es cuando toma la determinación de sacar algo de sus ahorros del banco para apostar, comprando 2200 billetes, pero para su sorpresa esa vez no logra ganar y es cuando comprende que para que se cumpla lo que calculo, el número de billetes que compre dese ser alto, ahí es cuando apuesta 8000 dolares a 1 dólar por billete, ganado 15000 dólares con una ganancia bruta de mas de 7000 dolares.

Opinion

As I already said, the movie has a great appeal for me, it is a comic drama, which has no loss because it is a story with a happy ending of real life. Its main attraction is the sequence of events that lead them to achieve their goals and how many other people benefit from their discovery. I love the idea that mathematics helped him to make money in this unusual way, I'm sure you and I know someone who spends their life playing these lotteries and gambling as much as they can, trying to find an easy way to make money, but we all know there isn't one.

Opinión

Como ya lo dije, la película tiene para mi un gran atractivo, es un drama cómico, que no tiene pérdida alguna porque es una historia con final feliz de la vida real. Su principal atractivo son la secuencia de hechos que los llevan a logran sus objetivos y como muchas otras personas se benefician de su hallazgo. Me encanta la idea de que la matemática le sirvió para ganar dinero de esta manera poco usual, seguro estoy que tanto ustedes como yo conocen alguna persona que se le va la vida gastando dinero jugando estas loterías y apostando en cuanto pueden, tratando de encontrar un camino fácil para hacer dinero, pero todos sabemos que no lo hay.
