Thunderbolts seems to redeem Marvel - The New Avengers? [ENG/SPA]

Last Monday, I had the chance to take my family to catch this new movie. My oldest kid is a huge Marvel fan, and my wife and I dig them a lot too. We thought it'd be a good plan to go see it because we'd heard this flick was making up for all the mess the franchise has been lately. A few days back, I reviewed the new Captain America movie, and in my review I didn't hide my disappointment 'cause I was expecting more. But this Thunderbolts movie was different – I enjoyed it, laughed, and got a little emotional a couple of times. It was a pleasant surprise.
It's not all just jokes and action in this movie; it's got a vibe like WandaVision where it gets into some deep stuff too. Thunderbolts, just like that show, also deals with themes like grief, depression, and loneliness, and you see it in each of the characters. At first, they seem like a total train wreck, but in the end, you realize these shared pains are what bring them together. What's really interesting is how it tackles this in a simple way – even my 9-year-old daughter could tell the characters were sad because of their past losses and screw-ups.
The basic idea of the movie is simple: getting back what was lost. Marvel hasn't really been able to spark that excitement for superheroes in the audience again for a long time, so now they're going with the anti-hero formula: Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. How do they all team up? They get double-crossed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the CIA director, who sends them all to unknowingly kill each other. They figure out Valentina's plans, but that's not all they find – there's a "new super" who makes them remember the dark parts of their pasts.
If you've kept up with Marvel stuff before, you'll remember that each of these characters was a supporting character in other shows and movies. At first, I thought that would be a recipe for disaster, but boy, was I wrong! The writers gave each character their own space and developed them so you could connect with all of them. You quickly stop seeing them as just side characters and they become the main focus. I think the cast is really well-balanced, and I love that we've got a Black Widow again with Florence Pugh – she kills it.
I laughed a lot with the Red Guardian character, played by David Harbour. If you don't remember, he's Yelena Belova's dad, a Soviet super-soldier from the Cold War era who's trying to relive his glory days. Now he drives limos and tries to reconnect with his daughter. Those two give us some really funny moments with their father-daughter dynamic as they both deal with losing Natasha Romanoff. The good thing about these funny scenes is that they're not over the top; the humor is dosed out just right so the character doesn't get annoying.
The newcomer, Lewis Pullman, does an awesome job. He plays Sentry, Marvel's version of Superman, but he's emotionally shattered. Memories from the past wake up a dark and macabre personality in him. I thought he'd be the super-powered bad guy who's tough to beat, and sure enough, none of the new heroes with their abilities can take him down. But man, was I surprised by how they were able to "defeat" him.
I didn't want to drop any spoilers in my review, but this was the part I loved the most. The new heroes did bad things in the past and are looking for a second chance – in fact, that's one of the movie's taglines. But they can't stop this new enemy with their powers. Instead, they go through this kind of emotional breakdown and figure out what's wrong with themselves, which motivates them to act right. That's their new superpower, and with it, they end up beating the villain – with a sincere, understanding hug.
I haven't told you how the ending plays out, but if you see the movie, you'll get what I mean. This group of "heroes" who are dealing with grief, depression, and loneliness understand what the villain is going through better than anyone, and that gives them the empathy they need to calm down what could have been a massive wipeout of the city's population. What a theme for a sci-fi superhero movie, but it's totally worth seeing. If you can catch it in theaters, it's even better – I recommend it.

Thunderbolts parece reivindicar Marvel ¿Los nuevos Vengadores?
El lunes pasado tuve la oportunidad de ir al cine a ver con mi familia esta nueva película, mi hijo mayor es super fan del universo Marvel, mi esposa y yo también las disfrutamos mucho, nos pareció un buen plan ir a verla porque escuchamos que esta película estaba reivindicando todo el desastre que hasta ahora han sido las películas de la franquicia. Días atrás reseñé la nueva película de Capitán América, en mi reseña no oculto mi decepción porque esperaba más, pero con esta película de los Thunderbolts fue distinto, la disfrute, me rei y emocione un par de veces, me sorprendio gratamente.
No todo en la película es humor y acción, tiene un parecido a Wanda Vision que aborda también la introspección. Thunderbolds al igual que esta serie aborda también temas como el duelo, depresión y soledad, todo en cada uno de sus personajes que al principio parecen un desastre, pero que al final descubre que estas penas los unen. Lo más interesante de esto es que aborda esto de una manera sencilla, incluso mi hija de 9 años pudo enter que estaban tristes los personajes debido a sus pérdidas y desaciertos pasados.
La premisa de la película es sencilla, recuperar lo perdido. Desde hace mucho Marvel no ha podido despertar en la audiencia nuevamente la emoción por los superhéroes, por eso ahora apuesta a la fórmula de los antihéroes: Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster y John Walker ¿Como llegan a juntarse? Son traicionados por Valentina Allegra de Fontaine la directora de la CIA, que los envía a todos a matarse entre sin saberlo. Descubren los planes de Valentina, pero no es lo único que encuentran, hay un "nuevo super" que los hace recordar lo oscuro de sus pasados
Si han seguido el contenido anterior de Marvel recordarán, que cada uno de estos personajes, fueron personajes secundarios en otras series y películas. Al principio pensé que eso sería una fórmula para el fracaso, pero vaya sorpresa me lleve, los guionistas le dieron un espacio a cada personaje y lo desarrollan para que podamos conectar con todos y rápidamente dejes de verlos como un secundario y pasen al protagónico. Creo que el elenco está bien balanceado y me encanta que tengamos una Viuda Negra nuevamente con Florence Pugh, lo hace genial.
Me reir mucho con el personaje de Red Guardian interpretado por David Harbour, si no recuerdan el es el padre de Yelena Belova, un super soldado soviético de la época de la guerra fría que busca recuperar sus días de gloria, ahora conduce limosinas y trata de conectar nuevamente con su hija. Ambos nos regalan momentos muy divertidos con las dinámicas padre e hija que comparten el duelo de haber perdido a Natasha Romanoff. Lo bueno de estas escenas cómicas es que no son exageradas, está bien dosificado el humor para que el personaje no te canse.
El recién llegado Lewis Pullman lo hace excelente, el es Sentry, el Superman de Marvel, pero emocionalmente roto. Los recuerdos del pasado despiertan en el una personalidad oscura y macabra. Pensé que sería el villano con súper poderes difícil de vencer, y en efecto ninguno de los nuevos héroes con sus habilidades puede hacerlo, pero vaya que sorpresa me lleve al ver cuál fue la forma de poder "derrotarlo".
No quería dar spoiler en mi reseña pero es la parte que más me encantó de la película. Los nuevos héroes hicieron cosas malas en el pasado y están en búsqueda de una segunda oportunidad, de hecho es uno de los slogan de la película. Pero a este nuevo enemigo no pueden detenerlo con sus habilidades, sin embargo, viven una especie de catarsis y logran entender lo que está mal en ellos, motivándolos a actuar correctamente. Ese es su nuevo súper poder y con el terminan venciendo al villano, con un sincero abrazo de compresión.
No les he contado cómo ocurre el final, pero si ven la película entenderán lo que digo, como este grupo de "héroes" que pasan por duelo, depresión y soledad, entienden mejor que nadie por lo que pasa el villano logrando así la empatía necesaria para aplacar lo que pudo ser la desaparición masiva de los habitantes de la ciudad. Vaya tema para una película de ficción y héroes fantasiosos, pero bien vale la pena verla, si pueden hacerlo en el cine se disfruta más, lo recomiendo.

Una película que jamás pensé que tendría este tipo de fórmula realmente la vi en el cine y me pareció más que increíble, ya que tenía tiempo que no veía nada de Marvel y en esta ocasión me pareció bastante interesante ver cómo fue el desarrollo de los personajes.
Si fue innovación en cierta forma para Marvel, trata el depresión, el duelo con humos y algo de violencia, la verdad que la disfrute.
