Negative Effects Some Movies Present

From the times we started watching movies; from our favourites then to our current taste or favourites now that we have grown, movies have made undeniable impacts in our lives. Yes, we just watch some screenplay from some good actors following a script, but I am sure we know that there is always an intention sent as a message.

Movies provide us with entertainment, education and a lot more. We have a variety of movie genres today, thankfully for the advancement and evolution through time. Out of the genres available, we can find ourselves mainly attracted or interested in a type of genre, or maybe just a consumer of all types.

One thing I know as I wish to reiterate is that there is always a message being passed. Not minding whatever genre it might be, they all put a message across. Now, the problem is, what kind of message do they pass through this entertainment? For some, it could be just entertainment, but I try to see the lessons and the message.

Through this, I have come to realise that some of the portrayals and intended messages are corrupt, vile and negative. If you are current with one of the recent trending matters on X (formerly Twitter), there has been a massive campaign by Elon Musk urging Netflix subscribers to cancel their subscription owing that some of the movies meant for children portray and encourage the “woke” agenda.

The presentation of transgender, gay and other woke ideals was disturbing and he had to speak out. He desired that the minds of the young ones not be corrupted by this agenda. Of course, his influence played a great role as Netflix lost millions of subscribers. I guess many find those things disturbing, unacceptable and negative as well.

While I am not a big fan of Netflix, I have also come across movies that left negative experiences or messages. It is the reason we have to be careful about the things our minds consume, through our eyes especially. Several movies are out there that tend to do just that, generally and depending on people's experiences.

I can't mention which movie in particular played this or that negative effect. But in a general sense, I will say that some of the negative things these movies presented which are inappropriate are the display of sexual perversion. Unfortunately, it has somehow become a common theme in many movies today. From minor to explicit ones.

Some of these movies or series are common to us. The mark they were leaving on some of our minds was a wrong sexual perception leading to promiscuity. The transgender, gay, and lesbian displays also presented negative ideals that I find displeasing. They tend to lure a person's mind. Not mine though.

Some movies somehow encouraged and strengthened evil/bad. I can't remember which movies in particular, but you would find in such movies that the evil things are exalted and the perpetrators unstoppable, which makes the mind watching adopt the reality. Movies do a lot more than entertain.

These are some of the messages some movies pass that I consider to have negative effects; especially on a young mind. For some, that unacceptable character started from one movie. As such, we need to be mindful and intentional about the movies we watch. No matter the hype and trend, we can learn to stay away when we see or know the negative impacts.
