"Invictus (2009) movie review" [ENG/ESP]

Hello, movie buffs. I hope you're all doing well.

Today I remembered a sports drama I watched a while back that I really liked. It's called Invictus, and it tells the true story of the South African rugby team during the time when Nelson Mandela was president.

Hoy me acordé de un drama deportivo que vi hace un tiempo y que me gustó mucho. Se llama Invictus y cuenta hechos reales sobre el equipo de rugby de Sudáfrica y la época en que Nelson Mandela era presidente.

The movie uses rugby as a pretext to talk about the unification of a country. The story takes place right after Mandela (Morgan Freeman) is released from prison and wins the first multiracial elections. At that time, South Africa was full of anger and distrust because of Apartheid.

La película usa el rugby como excusa para hablar de la unión de un país. La historia transcurre justo después de que Mandela (Morgan Freeman) sale de la cárcel y gana las primeras elecciones multirraciales. En ese momento, Sudáfrica estaba llena de rabia y desconfianza por el Apartheid.

Mandela decides to support the Springboks, the rugby team that was hated by the majority Black population, and use it as a tool to unite the country. He makes the players and their captain, François Pienaar (Matt Damon), see that through sport, many things can be changed.

Invictus isn't just a rugby movie. It also talks about leadership, forgiveness, and how we can be better when we have a reason to come together.

I've recommended it to several friends because, besides being entertaining and moving, it brings us closer to an important piece of South African history. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it
