i had to go look a bit in my language, not easy if you are not native english... here the title is "hamburger taste" lol totally unrelated to 'better off dead'

it's the classic good old comedy like they don't do anymore, without all that effects and lights, that's why it's more enjoyable

"hamburger taste"

OMG!!! Wow, that's a stretch. Where did they get that from? Maybe they were afraid of having 'dead' in the title. Doesn't sound like a comedy.

What language is that?

You are correct. No gimmicks. Just an offbeat sense of humor and great timing.

Have you watched it?

Thanks for reading and commenting.

it could be that they didn't want death references on the title, we talking about lot of years ago...

that's how it was translated in italian, i found the full movie on youtube while reading your post, i watched a few clips to see the style, will be fully watching when i got more time!

That's because how people perceive something is funny or not always related to their culture and custom.
The way people think is just different, so something considered funny here can even be rather offensive somewhere else.
That's why to understand jokes well and could sense the funny thing in the sentence, one doesn't only need to speak the language well, but also need to have enough cultural understanding about the people speaking the language 😊.

That is true aswell! I can't understand some uk/usa jokes without the background even if I can translate them well!
