Many of the movies I’ve seen lately all convey a message or an idea, much like others that end up being huge hits and surprise us with just how meaningful they are. That’s why Luminous Creatures was recently released—it’s a film that perfectly illustrates that we only have one life, and sometimes the simplest things can become the very thing we need to fill a void and keep moving forward. The film conveys this in a way that’s perfectly suited for all ages.

The film tells a story that feels grounded in reality, simply because it’s a story that could happen to anyone. Here we see a woman who has faced setbacks in her life and now works at an aquarium. From that simple premise, an entire plot unfolds that, on the surface, might seem odd, but upon closer inspection is deeply meaningful—simply because it involves a friendship with an octopus. And that’s when we ask ourselves: Will they understand each other?

Muchas de las películas que he visto últimamente en cada una de ellas se puede notar un mensaje, una idea, como tras otras que terminan siendo todo un éxito y sorprende por lo valioso que son. Por eso hace poco se estrenó Criaturas luminosas, siendo una película que es Perfecta para darse cuenta de que la vida es una sola y a veces lo más sencillo puede llegar a convertirse en esa persona esencial para llenar un vacío y así poder seguir avanzando, donde esta película lo muestra de una manera que es perfectamente para todas las edades.

La película cuenta con una historia que se adapta a una producción real, por el mismo hecho de ser historia que le puede llegar a ocurrir a cualquier persona. Donde aquí veremos a una mujer, que durante su vida ha tenido caída y ahora trabaja en un acuario y a partir de esa simple idea se construye toda una trama que, por una parte, puede llegar a ser rara, pero cuando la detallas es muy valiosa, por el mismo hecho de ser una relación de amistad con un pulpo y es ahí donde nos preguntamos ¿Se entenderán?

What really matters here are the colors, the story, the laughter, the moments of decision-making, and most importantly, how to deal with loneliness—something that’s incredibly difficult in real life—and seeing a relationship develop between an octopus and a person is truly incredible. Those small gestures between their hands may be the strongest aspect of it all and the motivation to keep going.

Visually, it’s also incredibly charming. The scenes inside the aquarium have an almost hypnotic atmosphere: blue lights, reflections in the water, and a constant sense of melancholic calm. There are moments where it literally feels like the movie is asking you to slow down and just feel.

Another great thing about this film is how it portrays life at the aquarium, from opening to closing, and it’s impressive how many people actually visit. Plus, the story unfolds at a leisurely pace and never feels boring—it’s more like a stroll, watching each character find their way.

Aquí lo que realmente vale son los colores, la historia, las risas, los momentos donde tocar decidir y lo más importante como es lidiar con la soledad, siendo algo totalmente difícil en la vida real, y verlo como se va construyendo una relación entre un pulpo y una persona es algo increíble. Donde esos pequeños gestos entre manos puede ser el punto más fuerte de todo esto y la motivación para seguir adelante.

Visualmente, también tiene muchísimo encanto. Las escenas dentro del acuario tienen una atmósfera casi hipnótica: luces azules, reflejos en el agua y una sensación constante de calma melancólica. Hay momentos donde literalmente parece que la película te pide bajar el ritmo y simplemente sentir.

Otras de las cosas muy buenas de esta película es como muestran esa vida en los acuarios, desde que abren hasta que cierran y es impresionante la cantidad de personas que pueden llegar a ir. Además, la historia va avanzando con tranquilidad y no se siente aburrida, sino más bien como todo un paseo, viendo como cada personaje va encontrando su camino.

I really liked Luminous Creatures; it surprised me from start to finish with its simple cinematic style. It’s also short, straightforward, and at the same time very sincere. Plus, seeing how people have to go through that and are just trying to find a little companionship and meaning in the midst of the pain, which sooner or later has to heal. So, friends, if you’re looking for something new to watch that will make you smile, you can’t miss this one.

Me gusto mucho el resultado de Criaturas luminosas, la cual me sorprendió desde el inicio hasta el final, con un estilo sencillo en el mundo del cine, además es corta, sencilla y a la vez muy sincera. Además, ver cómo personas tienen que pasar por eso y aquí solo están intentando encontrar un poco de compañía y sentido en medio del dolor, que tarde o temprano tiene que curarse. Por eso amigos si buscas algo nuevo para ver y qué te saque una sonrisa, no puedes dejar pasar esta entrega.
