Blockbuster releases across various genres keep coming, and with many of these films, you’re hooked from the very first second by what’s happening and can enjoy a great story, while others draw you in through the emotions they evoke—yet everyone has their own preferences. That’s why Crime 101 was released—it’s one of those thrillers that leaves you pondering, with nonstop chases and a plot that builds up so that, second by second, we feel as if we were the characters in the story.

Siguen llegando grandes estrenos de diferentes géneros y muchas de esas películas desde el primer segundo uno se atrapa por lo que pasa y puede disfrutar de algo bueno, mientras que otras por lo que se siente mientras pasa, aun así cada uno apuesta por su estilo. Por eso se estrenó Crime 101 siendo un thriller de esos que te dejan pesando, con persecuciones sin pausa y van construyendo toda una trama que segundo tras segundo nos sentimos como si fuéramos los personajes de la historia.

The film aims to create something visually stunning by showcasing Los Angeles and its streets at night, while also serving to bring depth to each of the characters who bring this production to life. There’s Chris, who has gained experience over time, is studying, and yet is tired of his own life. He’ll put his plan into action with one last heist. On the other hand, Berry brings a different energy: someone trapped in a comfortable but empty life, who sees chaos as a kind of escape.

It has a somewhat slow pace, as it seeks to delve into every moment, uncomfortable silences, and decisions with no turning back; however, the film moves slowly, especially in those scenes where no one speaks and yet everything is at stake. Furthermore, it’s a film that has more to offer and could take this thriller to the top, but it stops short, as if the film wanted to say something deeper but couldn’t quite find the words.

La película apuesta por crear algo muy bueno visualmente porque muestra a Los Ángeles, calles de noche y a la vez sirve para darle fuerza a cada uno de los personajes que hacen vida en esta producción. Donde está Chris, quien con el tiempo ha tomado experiencia, estudia y a la vez cansado de su propia vida. Donde pondrá en práctica su plan un último golpe. Mientras que por otro lado está Berry aporta una energía distinta: alguien atrapado en una vida cómoda, pero vacía, que ve en el caos una especie de salida.

Cuenta con un ritmo algo lento, ya que busca profundizar en cada momento, silencios incómodos y en las decisiones que no tienen vuelta atrás, sin embargo, la película tarda en avanzar especialmente en esas escenas donde nadie habla y aun así todo está en juego. Además, es una película que tiene para mostrar más y llevar este thriller a la cima, pero se quede allí, como si la película quisiera decir algo más profundo, pero no terminará de encontrar las palabras.

In the end, this movie will likely be a standalone film, and it has the potential to be more than that, given its constant adrenaline rush, gunfire, and a conflict that’s bigger than it seems—and that’s a plus for the production. But for a thriller like this, it lacks the risk-taking, tough decisions, and the kind of ending you’d expect. That’s why Crime 101 has a lot to offer, but they didn’t make the most of it.

Al final esta película seguro contará con una sola parte, donde puede dar más, ya que tiene ese tipo adrenalina constante, balas, con un conflicto más grande de lo que parece y eso es bueno para la producción. Pero para ser un thriller como lo que han estrenado falta arriesgar, decisiones difíciles y un final que uno se espera, por eso Crime 101 tiene bastante que ofrecer, pero no lo aprovecharon.
