One of the most successful franchises, Predator, has always managed to survive with each new production thanks to that simple but powerful idea of the ultimate hunter facing off against humanity's strongest warriors. That's why Predator: Killer of Killers was recently released, taking a different, new, and risky step by betting on animation, which is a very complicated genre, as well as a narrative that feels closer to a collection of legends than a traditional film. Released on Disney+, this installment shows that the universe of the alien hunter still has new ways to surprise, and it has given us a lot to talk about.

This new installment has a very interesting and unique story, as it not only follows one protagonist, but also presents different eras, settings, and warriors, each with their own culture and techniques for facing the same threat: a creature that only seeks out the most worthy opponents. This structure gives the film a different rhythm, avoiding repetition of moments from other films and thus maintaining the viewer's attention from beginning to end. Rather than a continuous story that many may have already seen, this film feels like a collection of epic tales connected by the same destiny: to survive the hunt.

Una de las franquicias más exitosa como lo es Predator con cada producción que sacan siempre le ha permitido sobrevivir gracias a esa idea simple, pero poderosa, donde está ese cazador definitivo enfrentándose a los guerreros más fuertes de la humanidad. Por ese hace poco se estrenó Predator: Killer of Killers, la cual da un paso diferente, nuevo y arriesgado al apostar por la animación, donde es un género muy complicado, como también por una narrativa que se siente más cercana a una colección de leyendas que a una película tradicional. Estrenada en Disney+, esta entrega demuestra que el universo del cazador alienígena aún tiene nuevas formas de sorprender y con esta ha dado mucho de que hablar.

Esta nueva entrega cuenta con una historia bastante interesante y a la vez única, ya que no solo sigue a un protagonista, sino que presenta varias épocas, escenarios distintos y guerreros, donde cada uno con su propia cultura, técnica para así enfrentarse a la misma amenaza: una criatura que solo busca a los oponentes más dignos. Esta estructura le da a la película un ritmo diferente, evitando repetir momentos de otras y manteniendo así la atención de principio a fin. Más que una historia continua y quizás muchos ya han visto, esta película se siente como un conjunto de relatos épicos conectados por el mismo destino: sobrevivir a la cacería.

One of the most impressive things is how they managed to recreate everything in an animated form, without exaggerating and achieving a visual style that is very realistic. In addition, the animation allows the action scenes to be more intense, stylized, and spectacular than in many live-action films. Each of the fights is fast, violent, and precisely choreographed, making every confrontation feel like an important duel. The length also works in its favor, as it gets straight to the point, with no filler, and is action-packed and exciting every second.

The story aims to create something different, but it has its weak side, as by focusing so much on the action, the character development is very short and we are left wanting a little more from them and how they came to take on the responsibility of facing this creature, with brief stories designed more to build content than to generate a bond with the characters. Even so, it allows the story to unfold easily and is not about telling great human dramas, but about showing legendary encounters between great warriors and the perfect hunter.

Una de las cosas más fuerte es cómo lograron recrear todo de una forma animada, sin exagerar y lograr ese estilo visual para que sea muy realista, además la animación permite que las escenas de acción sean más intensas, estilizadas y espectaculares que en muchas entregas de imagen real. Como también cada uno de los combates son rápidos, violentos y coreografías con precisión, haciendo que cada enfrentamiento se sienta como un duelo importante. Donde la duración también juega a su favor, por el mismo hecho de que va al punto, sin relleno y es acción y emoción cada segundo.

La historia apuesta en crear algo distinto, pero tiene su lado débil, ya que al centrarse tanto en la acción, el desarrollo de los personajes es muy corto y falta un poco más de ellos y cómo llegaron a tomar esa responsabilidad de enfrentar a dicha criatura, con historias breves, diseñadas más para construir contenido que para generar un vínculo con los personajes. Aun así permite que la historia se pueda desarrollar con facilidad y no se trata de contar grandes dramas humanos, sino de mostrar encuentros legendarios entre grandes guerreros y el cazador perfecto.

Behind it all is a great director, who already has experience with the franchise, which allows everything to be much better and to continue betting on something new, but without abandoning the continuation of the saga that will always pit the Predator against interesting opponents in different contexts, exploring new eras and styles without losing the original essence.

I really liked the result, especially since it is an animated adaptation, which does not seek to be the most profound or complex installment of the franchise, but rather one of the most creative in its form, showing something different, rhythm, action, and its visual proposal, which appeals to both fans of the saga and new viewers. Because in the end, beyond the format or the era, the message remains the same: there is always someone watching, and the hunt never ends.

Detrás de todo está un gran director, la cual ya ha tenido experiencia con la franquicia y eso permite que todo sea mucho mejor y seguir apostando en algo nuevo, pero sin dejar esa continuación de la saga que siempre será enfrentar al Predator con oponentes interesantes en contextos diferentes, explorando nuevas épocas y estilos sin perder la esencia original.

El resultado me gusto mucho y más aún al ser una adaptación en estilo animado, donde no busca ser la entrega más profunda o compleja de la franquicia, pero sí una de las más creativas en su forma, mostrar algo diferente, ritmo, acción y su propuesta visual, la cual sirve para cada uno de los fanáticos de la saga, como para los nuevos espectadores. Porque al final, más allá del formato o la época, el mensaje sigue siendo el mismo: siempre hay alguien observando y la cacería nunca termina.
