Greetings friend, this is a film that has generated a lot of discussion, since firstly it's incredible how many years have passed between the first and second installments, which can get boring, even though the use of technology in this second part is insane, even so, as you say, it's very robotic and surely they could have changed many things to make it better and maintain the essence of the first one.

Yeah it's pretty crazy, there was 28 years between part 1 and 2 and then 15 years between 2 and 3. The way that Ares ends, it appears as though they have yet another one in mind but given how much money this this one is slated to lose the parent company, I would be surprised if they bother with the next step unless they can somehow get the production costs way down. I think they need to speak to the Japanese because they make some pretty incredible films such as their recent Godzilla movie for a fraction of the cost that is spent by US firms.
We have to see the movie and see if it's worth it; besides, I'm sure there will be a lot of money involved.
