We are in the final stretch of the year, but for movie releases there is never an end, as there are always new films being announced, many of which are big spectacles that live up to every expectation, but there are others that, without as much publicity and production, end up making a bigger impact than expected. This happened with the most recent release, The Great Flood, a film that has given people a lot to talk about, since it is something that could happen in real life. That is why it presents us not only with a story of catastrophe, floods, and collapsed cities, but also from another perspective, which is human fragility, everything they have to go through and the need to cling to something when everything around them is collapsing, in order to stay alive.

Estamos en la recta final para que se termine el año, sin embargo, para los estrenos de películas nunca hay un final, puesto que siempre están anunciando cualquier lanzamiento, la cual muchas de ellas son grandes espectáculos y cumplen con cada expectativa, pero hay otras que, sin tanta publicidad y producción terminan golpeando más fuerte de lo esperado. Esto pasó con este esteño más reciente la cual es El gran diluvio, siendo una película que ha dado mucho de que hablar, ya que es algo que puede llegar a pasar en la vida y por eso nos presenta no solo una historia de catástrofe, inundaciones y ciudades colapsadas, sino más bien desde otra perspectiva que sería la fragilidad humana, todo lo que tienen que pasar y la necesidad de aferrarse a algo cuando todo alrededor se derrumba, con el fin de poder quedar con vida.

From the very first minutes, the real adventure begins, with disasters and how everything can change in a second. That's why the production makes it clear that there will be no respite and creates that tension of who will survive a disaster of this magnitude. Being in a situation like this, despair sets in, the water becomes much stronger, capable of destroying everything, and spaces become smaller and the feeling of confinement becomes constant, since the only thing you can do is run and try to escape, but one wrong move and everything can end badly. There are many disaster movies, but the real challenge is not the magnitude of the disaster, but how people deal with it and what decisions they make. This is where the story follows Anna, a scientist caught in the middle of the chaos, who tries to protect her son while the entire city disappears under water. There are also other survivors who try to escape both their fears and the disaster.

Desde los primeros minutos, comienza la verdadera aventura, desastres y como todo puede cambiar en un segundo, por eso la producción deja claro que no habrá descanso y crea esa tensión de poder caer quien quedará con vida a este un desastre como esa magnitud. Estar en una situación como esa el desespero ataca, el agua se vuelve mucho más fuerte capaz de destruir todo, además los espacios se reducen y la sensación de encierro se vuelve constante, ya que lo único que se puede es correr e intentar escapar, pero un mal movimiento todo puede terminar mal. Además, existen muchas películas sobre desastre, pero el verdadero reto no está en la magnitud del desastre, sino en cómo las personas lo enfrentan, qué decisión tomar y es aquí donde la historia sigue a An-na, una científica atrapada en medio del caos, que intenta proteger a su hijo mientras toda la ciudad desaparece bajo el agua. También otros sobrevivientes que intentar escapar tanto de los miedos como del desastre.

The film is very well crafted, each scene is very solid, and at the same time there is the challenge of getting out alive. Furthermore, flooding is very dangerous due to the force it creates, and this adds something to the film, as it generates stress and makes you watch every second of the situation. You can tell that each shot was very hard work in order to achieve something of quality. In addition, the transition from beginning to end plays a big role, with no filler moments, but rather a great sequence, even in the hardest moments. Another thing that makes this film so good and special is that it avoids excessive explanation of how the disaster happened, since no one is prepared for that, but rather focuses on how to act, the decisions, the mistakes, even though there is no time to think, and that is why seeing it there at every moment is as disturbing as the most intense scenes.

La película está muy bien trabajada, cada una de las escenas muy sólidas y a la vez ese reto de poder salir con vida, además la inundación es algo muy peligroso por la misma fuerza que se crea y eso le da un que a la película, ya que genera estrés y ver cada segundo de esa situación, cada toma se nota que fue un trabajo muy fuerte para así poder lograr algo de calidad. Además, la transición de cada momento de inicio a fin juega un gran papel, sin momentos de relleno, sino toda una gran secuencia e incluso en los momentos más duros. Otras de las cosas que hace que esta película sea muy buena y especial es que evita caer en el exceso de explicación, de cómo ocurrió el desastre, ya que para eso nadie está preparado, sino en cómo actuar, las decisiones, los errores, a pesar de que una situación no habrá para pensar y por eso verlo allí en cada momento resulta tan inquietante como las escenas más intensas.

That's why it was the perfect combination of everything to create something intense, full of emotion, adrenaline, and above all, how to react after everything is over and you see that everything is destroyed.

Disfrute de esta película y cada uno podrá pensar muy distinto a la hora de estar en una situación de desastre como esa más aún cuando se trata de una magnitud gigante y es aquí donde viendo saldrán muchas preguntas,: ¿qué haríamos nosotros en una situación así?, ¿qué vale la pena salvar?, y muchas otras cosas como el trabajo que puede llegar a tener una madre también. Por eso fue la combinación perfecta de cada cosa para crear algo intenso, lleno de mucha emoción, adrenalina y sobre todo como reaccionar después de que pase todo al ver que todo está destruido.
