This new year got off to a great start with a slew of releases on various platforms featuring action, pace, and adrenaline, but without warning, they end up talking about much more relatable issues, making it a very valuable production. That's why The Rip arrives, with a director who took a chance on creating a police thriller, with tension, chases, and decisions on the edge, but it's also a story that takes its time to show us how a single crack can break everything, and even more so when you've worked together for years, all of that is put aside.

The film introduces us to a group of police officers who seem to have it all figured out: experience, confidence, and a bond that goes beyond work, built up over many years of service. However, everything changes when a large sum of money appears in the wrong place, and this is where the film leads us to ask ourselves, “Are they going to take it or leave it there?” This is what makes The Rip work, as it doesn't need to exaggerate to make us uncomfortable. It's enough to show how ambition and doubt creep into the silences, the glances, and the small decisions, and thus everything becomes much more intense, and how a job can end up in a nightmare.

Este nuevo año arrancó de la mejor manera con una gran cantidad de estrenos en las distintas plataformas con historia de acción, ritmo y adrenalina, pero sin avisar, terminan hablando de cosas mucho más cercanas y permite que sea una producción muy valiosa. Por eso llega The Rip, siendo un director que apostó en crear un thriller policial, con tensión, persecuciones y decisiones al límite, pero también es una historia que se toma su tiempo para mostrarnos cómo una sola grieta puede romperlo todo y más aún cuando se tiene años de trabajo juntos, todo eso queda a un lado.

La película nos presenta a un grupo de policías que parecen tenerlo claro, experiencia, confianza y un vínculo que va más allá del trabajo, la cual se ha construido por muchos años de servicio, sin embargo, todo cambia cuando aparece una gran suma de dinero en el lugar equivocado y ves aquí donde la película nos lleva a preguntarnos ¿Lo van a tomar o lo dejarán allí?, siendo esto lo que hace que The Rip funcione, puesto que no necesita exagerar para incomodar, basta con mostrar cómo la ambición y la duda se cuelan en los silencios, en las miradas y en las decisiones pequeñas y así todo se vuelve mucho más denso y como un trabajo puede terminar en una pesadilla.

As the story progresses, it becomes clear that the real conflict is not about money, but rather what it awakens beyond that, since it is no secret that money is the most valuable thing today, especially when it comes to large sums. The film, full of action and adrenaline, becomes a mirror, and we imagine ourselves in that situation. How far does our loyalty go when there is something that promises to change everything? Furthermore, this production does not provide easy answers, and therein lies one of its greatest successes, as everything becomes a mystery and more confusing.

Visually, each scene in this film feels very real and tense, as if it were accompanying the mental state of the characters, characters who bring value to the film and each have a great responsibility in it, especially at the police level. There is also a constant atmosphere that reinforces the feeling that something is about to break, with shots fired at the most unexpected moments, and decision-making is present in these situations where the characters' lives are at stake. Everything moves along a fine line between what is right and what is convenient, where many are carried away by emotion and money.

A medida que avanza la historia, se aprecia que el verdadero conflicto no está en el dinero, sino en lo que despierta más allá de eso, puesto que para nadie es un secreto que el dinero es lo más váliso hoy en día y más aún cuando se trata de una cantidad muy grande. La película en un punto de acción y adrenalina, se vuelve un espejo y nos imaginamos nosotros en esa situación, ¿hasta dónde llega nuestra lealtad cuando hay algo que promete cambiarlo todo?, además esta producción no da respuestas fáciles, y ahí está uno de sus mayores aciertos, ya que todo se vuelve un misterio y más confuso.

Visualmente, cada una de las escenas de esta película se sienten muy reales, tensa, como si acompañara el estado mental de los personajes, personajes que le aportan valor y cada uno tiene una gran responsabilidad en la misma y sobre todo niveles en la policía. Como también una atmósfera constante que refuerza esa sensación de que algo está a punto de romperse, disparos en los momentos menos esperados, al igual la toma de decisiones está presente en estas situaciones donde la vida de los personajes está en juego. Todo se mueve en una línea fina entre lo correcto y lo conveniente, donde muchos se dejan llevar por la emoción y el dinero.

I really liked the outcome of this police thriller, and it's one of those films that has excitement, action, and can be enjoyed calmly, since it doesn't seek to surprise with impossible twists, but rather with the evolution of its characters, with the way each decision weighs more than the previous one. It also shows that the real enemy is not always outside, but much closer than one might think. Therefore, the ending leaves a lot to think about, and surely today there are many good police officers as well as bad ones.

Me gusto mucho el resultado de este thriller de policía y es una de esas películas que tiene emoción, acción y se disfruta con calma, ya que no busca sorprender con giros imposibles, sino con la evolución de sus personajes, con la forma en que cada decisión pesa más que la anterior, además muestra que el verdadero enemigo no siempre está afuera, si no mucho más cerca de lo que uno ve. Por ende ese final deja muchas cosas por pensar y seguramente hoy en día habrá muchos policías buenos como otros malos.
