Although it has been a year in which many films repeat the same structure, without taking risks to create something new, The Running Man has arrived with something totally new, reminding us that some stories are still necessary to keep all viewers engaged. This is a film that has given us a lot to talk about, because beyond the action, it presents us with a raw look at a society that consumes entertainment without questioning the price that someone else is paying for it, that is, seeing people give up their lives for a prize, while others enjoy the show.

Estamos a punto de terminar el año y por eso en las distintas plataformas aún siguen llegando grandes estrenos y a pesar de que ha sido un año donde muchas películas repiten las mismas estructura, sin ese toque de arriesgarse en crear algo nuevo, por ende llegó The Running Man, con algo totalmente nuevo y como recordatorio de que algunas historias siguen siendo necesarias, para así poder mantener a todos los espectadores atentos. Esta es una película que ha dado mucho de que hablar, ya que más allá de la acción, nos presenta una mirada cruda a una sociedad que consume entretenimiento sin preguntarse el precio que alguien más está pagando por él, es decir, ver a personas dejarse de la vida por un premio, mientras otros disfrutan del espectáculo.

The story takes us to a world that can be somewhat related to today's reality shows, however, here survival, blows, death, and even evil become the main spectacle of the whole story and, at the same time, knowing how to make decisions. Therefore, all those who enter to participate do not flee to save their lives, but to preserve something much more difficult: their dignity, which is very important to everyone. As the film progresses, we see that the real enemy is not always the pursuer, but the system that watches, applauds, and demands more violence to remain entertained. Some earn money from this, and others need it.

As the film progresses, the tension grows and the game itself presents challenges and difficulties, and there may come a point where one can identify with it, simply because if we need money, we will do whatever it takes to get it. Furthermore, it is a film that plays with this dangerous idea, with elements that make people's lives impossible, but also with the other side of the coin, showing how far we are capable of going as a society when the pain of others becomes content and ceases to hurt us, since everything becomes a cycle and we are the only ones enjoying the whole spectacle.

La historia nos lleva a un mundo que puede relacionarse un poco con los reality shows de hoy, sin embargo, aquí la supervivencia, los golpes, muerte e incluso la maldad se convierte en el espectáculo principal de toda la historia y a la vez saber tomar decisiones. Por lo tanto, todos los que entran a participar no huyen por salvar su vida, sino por conservar algo mucho más difícil: su dignidad, siendo algo muy importante para todos y por eso a medida que avanza la película, se observa que el verdadero enemigo no siempre es quien persigue, sino el sistema que observa, aplaude y exige más violencia para seguir entretenido, además unos ganan dinero por eso y otro los necesitan.

La película a medida que avanza la tensión crece y el mismo juego va presentando retos, dificultades y puede llegar un punto donde uno puede llegar a sentirse identificado, por el mismo hecho de que si necesitamos dinero vamos a hacer lo que sea por obtenerlo. Además, es una película que juega con esa idea peligrosa, con elementos para hacerle la vida imposible a las personas, pero también el otro lado de la moneda para ver hasta dónde somos capaces de llegar como sociedad cuando el dolor ajeno se vuelve contenido y deja de dolernos, puesto que todo se convierte en un ciclo y uno solo es quien está disfrutando de todo el espectáculo.

That is why the production maintains a cold and oppressive aesthetic in every situation that arises in the plot. In addition, each of the scenes plays a fundamental role, as they did not seek to be futuristic or exaggerated, but rather simple and believable, thus allowing the story to feel real and making the viewer feel like a player, managing to maintain that tension from beginning to end. The main character, who is earning the respect of many and seeks to win, is a human being and therefore not perfect. He makes mistakes, gets tired, but never gives up, emphasizing that not all heroes want to be heroes; some simply do not want to be crushed by a system that uses them as a product.

Visualmente, es una producción que está muy bien elaborada, con ese objetivo claro y sobre todo una nueva forma de entrenamiento para las personas adineradas y por eso la producción mantiene una estética fría y opresiva ante cada situación que se vayan presentando en la trama. Además, cada una de las escenas juegan un papel fundamental, ya que no buscaron que fueran futurista, exageradas, sino sencillas, creíbles, permitiendo así que la la historia se sienta real y sentir como si uno fuera un jugador, logrando mantener esa tensión desde el inicio hasta el final. Como también el protagonista principal, quien sé ganando el respeto de muchos y busca poder ganar es un ser humano y por eso no es Perfecto, comete errores, se cansa, pero nunca se rinde y hace énfasis que no todos los héroes quieren serlo; algunos simplemente no quieren ser aplastados por un sistema que los usa como producto.

The Running Man, funcionó la dinámica de crear algo distinto y a la vez deja muchas preguntas, de qué tan lejos estamos de ese mundo que muestra, sin embargo, es una película intensa, directa y con una serie de elementos muy importantes como saber tomar control, de la manipulación, del poder de las pantallas y de cómo la fama puede construirse sobre la desgracia de otros. Por eso es una película para un público en específico, pero a la vez perfecta para entretener.
