The Power of Korean Story Telling in Drama
One thing that has always got me and caught my attention is how Korean culture and value is in relation their dramas and movies. It is not just about acting, it is about teaching value and showing real life. Many times I watch a Korean drama, I come away with something new in my heart.
A drama that left deep impression on me is that I can hardly forgotten up till today “Reply 1988.” This drama is not only about family, but about friendship, love, and the life of normal people living together in one neighborhood. It is set in late 1980s, but the story is still very fresh today. I got to understand one thing that Korean put value and passion to all their things.
There is a great sense of humor in a particular scene scene that touch me deep down in me. The parents were sitting down together, talking about their children and the hard times they pass through. They did not have much money, but they always try their best to make their family happy. That moment show me the value of sacrifice, how Korean parents always put their children first. It is not only a Korean thing, but in their culture it is very strong.
Another scene I remember is when the friends gather outside in the small alley, eating food and laughing together. It look so simple, but will let us know that it shows the value of community. In Korean society, neighbors are not just people living beside you, they can become part of your family. That kind of togetherness is something I admire a lot.
Reply 1988 also show respect for elders.it shows love for one another In many scenes, young people always bow or speak politely to older ones. It look small, but it is a strong cultural value that is inside Korean life. Respect, love, sacrifice, and community, all of it show through their story telling.
For me, this is why Korean drama is powerful. It is not only entertainment, it is a way of learning. By watching, you see how they live, what they believe, and what make them strong as a people. That is the true power of Korean storytelling. And I always admit it that the main reason why I love the Koreans.
