What I Have Learned From Indian Movies and Culture
I remember I have love indian movie since my primary schools days, cos I use to love the song and the dancing style then I begin to notice that the culture in the films was very rich and different. Many time I sit down and laugh at how the actors talk, but also I become curious to learn something from it.
I really love how the language is been speak by the actors and the actress. Words like Nahe (which they shout plenty when something bad happen), Namaste (for greeting), Kia Huwa (to ask what happen). Even though my pronunciation is not perfect, I like to repeat it with friends and we laugh together. It feel like I was learning small part of a new world through India movie.
There is particular bonding of the family which everyone in the family comes together is valuable respect and dignity. Parents, brothers, sisters, they always stand together in joy and in problem. This part touch me because in my own life too, family is very important. It teach me that no matter how far we go, family love is still the root.
The fun part of their culture is the holi festival, When I see Holi festival in movies, with all the color powder, it make me smile and wish to experience it one day. I mean I feel like to be there on the festival street with powders even the food they show, don't remember the name, but it look so tasty just by seeing it that sometimes I try to look for Indian restaurant in my area.
So for me, Indian movies am not just for the fun, it teaches morality they and respect and movies are like small classroom. They show me a culture of respect, joy, music, and deep emotion. And each time I watch, I feel like India is not far away, it is close to me through the stories and language.
Truly, movies can teach us many things if we watch with open heart.
