I have mentioned many times in the past, that my favorite film of all time is currently Interstellar, for almost 8 years my favorite film hasn't changed and I don't see this changing any time soon.

Before this film was released I was already extremely hyped about it for several reasons. First, it was the topic of the story, space exploration, which has been something that fascinates me since I was a child, and can be considered as the ultimate frontier of development for any conscious civilization such as us. I even remember my first "science" exposition in school was about black holes due to how intrigued I was about them.

And second, I knew the director and main cast members were extremely talented people who are always participating in high-quality productions, so I was sure this film was going to be amazing.

In recent years, or well, in the recent years before 2014 which is when Interstellar was released, there weren't many decent space films available to watch. I remember Gravity with Sandra Bullock but that film was far from epic and far from achieving memorable status even though it was an acceptable production.

There was also Prometheus, but it was much more focused on hardcore scifi and it didn't have the powerful emotional moments of Interstellar. Don't get me wrong, Interstellar obviously has a bit of science fiction as well, but it is presented in such a natural way that many people could even forget it is scifi when watching the film.

Plus, what makes Interstellar unforgettable in my opinion, is the way it can emotionally move the viewer when watching it for the first time. I am not afraid to say I got teary eyes a couple of times the first time I watch it.

Antes de que se estrenara esta película, ya estaba muy entusiasmado con ella por varias razones. Primero, fue el tema de la historia, la exploración espacial, que ha sido algo que me fascina desde que era un niño, y puede considerarse como la última frontera del desarrollo para cualquier civilización consciente como la nuestra. Incluso recuerdo que mi primera exposición de "ciencia" en la escuela fue sobre los agujeros negros debido a lo intrigado que estaba con ellos.

Y segundo, sabía que el director y los miembros principales del elenco eran personas extremadamente talentosas que siempre participan en producciones de alta calidad, así que estaba seguro de que esta película sería increíble.

En los últimos años, o mejor dicho, en los últimos años antes de 2014, cuando se estrenó Interstellar, no había muchas películas espaciales decentes disponibles para ver. Recuerdo Gravity con Sandra Bullock, pero esa película estuvo lejos de ser épica y de alcanzar un estatus memorable a pesar de que era una producción aceptable.

También estaba Prometheus, pero estaba mucho más centrado en la ciencia ficción hardcore y no tenía los poderosos momentos emocionales de Interstellar. No me malinterpreten, Interstellar obviamente también tiene un poco de ciencia ficción, pero se presenta de una manera tan natural que muchas personas incluso podrían olvidar que es ciencia ficción cuando ven la película.

Before talking about the epic song from the wave scenes, I want to first share a quick summary of the plot for those that don't know anything about this movie and might be interested in giving it a watch.

Interstellar is about a space trip where the crew is looking for another planet so humanity can move there and survive. Something is wrong with our planet and we simply need to look for another home. This story might seem very generic and over-exploited but trust me when I say the film is a masterpiece, with a touching story, amazing performances from the main cast, and some twists that can be mind-blowing.

Interstellar explores the emotional impact a space travel can have on both the crew who are risking their lives for this mission, but also on their families who remained on Earth. This is especially the case with the main character, Cooper, played by the terrific actor Matthew McConaughey.

Now, if you haven't seen this film, I really recommend you to first watch it and then to continue to read this post because I am going to now talk about a very important and epic scene, and the best way to experience this scene for the first time is by watching the film, otherwise, you would be depriving yourself of enjoying one of the most epic moments from this industry in the past decade.

Ok, so let's talk about that unforgettable wave scene and its perfect song. The crew just arrives at this strange planet to confirm if it can work as a new home for us humans. There is one inconvenience and it is that the planet is near a black hole, and this means time behaves differently, it is much slower while on the planet. The crew knows this, so they are aware they need to be as fast as possible. One hour on this planet is seven years on Earth, imagine the psychological impact of being on a mission and knowing your loved ones are living days, months, and years while you are only experiencing seconds and minutes. Black holes are surely fascinating and scary things.

Antes de hablar sobre la canción épica de la escena de las olas, primero quiero compartir un breve resumen de la trama para aquellos que no saben nada sobre esta película y podrían estar interesados en verla.

Interestelar se trata de un viaje espacial en el que la tripulación busca otro planeta para que la humanidad pueda mudarse allí y sobrevivir. Algo anda mal con nuestro planeta y simplemente necesitamos buscar otro hogar. Esta historia puede parecer muy genérica y sobreexplotada, pero confía en mí cuando digo que la película es una obra maestra, con una historia conmovedora, actuaciones asombrosas del elenco principal y algunos giros que pueden ser alucinantes.

Interestelar explora el impacto emocional que un viaje espacial puede tener tanto en la tripulación que arriesga sus vidas por esta misión como en las familias que se quedaron en la Tierra. So, they arrive on this planet and we can notice from the beginning a new song begins to be played which includes a clock ticking. The song is beautiful in itself because of how it builds up tension and then releases the tension when the huge reveal about the supposed "mountains" happens.

But this song also has secrets similar to the song from the classic Jaws movie. The shark song was interpreted by other music professionals as based on the rhythm of a shark's heartbeat or of a human's breathing as it gets more intense, and it made a great job making Jaws a much more suspenseful movie.

The secret of the song used in Interstellar's wave scene isn't open to interpretation though. You see, each clock tick on the song represents an entire day on Earth. This gives the song a completely new meaning and makes it even a much more complex song to produce, Hans Zimmer is probably a genius.

The song enters its most epic moment when Brand says "I can't make it", I mean come on, that's the most intense scene I have seen in my life I remember cheering for the robot Case when he went to save her. I still get chills watching it after many years.

This is my favorite song used in any movie, not only because of the great job it does building the tension of this important moment but how it manages to integrate the hidden information about time passing on Earth. A masterpiece, just like the film and the perfect song for such a scene.

Esta es mi canción favorita utilizada en cualquier película, no solo por el gran trabajo que hace creando la tensión de este importante momento, sino por cómo logra integrar la información oculta sobre el paso del tiempo en la Tierra. Una obra maestra, como la película y la canción perfecta para tal escena.
