My Teacher (2017)

Shimada Hibiki (Hirose Suzu) is a second year student at a high school. She's a calm kid and doesn't stand out too much. He has two best friends, Chigusa Megumi (Morikawa Aoi) who is very excited and Kawai Kosuke (Ryusei Ryo) who is quite popular. The three of them are members of the archery club. During the school entrance ceremony in her first year, Hibiki becomes interested in Ito Kosaku (Ikuta Toma), a history teacher at her school. But at that time, he didn't know that his feeling was love.

One day, Chigusa, who has a crush on their homeroom teacher, writes a letter to her homeroom teacher. She asks Hibiki for help to put it in the homeroom teacher's locker. But Hibiki misplaced the letter in another teacher's locker and when they checked the locker again, the letter was gone. It turned out that Hibiki had put the letter in Ito's locker. Feeling guilty, Hibiki then went to Ito to ask for the letter and as expected, Ito had read it. At first Ito thought it was a letter from Hibiki, but then he found out that Hibiki wasn't the type to write such a letter. When Ito returned Chigusa's letter, Hibiki was mesmerized by Ito's large hands. The funny thing is, Chigusa's letter was even judged by Ito because many of her writings were wrong and made Chigusa very upset.

One night when Hibiki came home from school, she felt that she was being followed by a pervert. He ran and fell, then Ito helped and was taken to the hospital. Since then Hibiki's feelings grew bigger and she started to approach Ito. Ito, who also began to feel feelings for Hibiki, finally couldn't control his feelings until he kissed Hibiki. However that was the start of all the conflict, it turned out that someone took a picture of them kissing and spread it around. In the end, in order to protect Hibiki, Ito had to endure everything and leave school.

Actually the story line and the conflict is like others romance films of teachers and students. But I think what makes this film interesting is the cast. Suzu Hirose is very beautiful and acts well. Although I have to admit, Suzu Hirose and Ikuta Toma's chemistry in my opinion is a bit lacking and seems awkward. Maybe because of their age gap. But the most interesting is the friendship between Hibiki, Chiguse and Kyosuke, the acting and chemistry of the actors is very good. The Visuals is also very good. I think this film is quite good even though the story is a bit mediocre.

Overall, I quite enjoyed and liked this film. For those of you who like romance films, I recommend this film for you to watch. Although this film was produced five years ago, but this film can still be enjoyed. I think this is one of my favorite Japanese movies.
