Trailer

What Happened To Monday, a dystopian science-fiction movie which was released on the 30th of August 2017 is my favourite science-fiction tv show.

The story begins in the year 2073 in a world that is extremely overpopulated and people are dying of hunger, traffic is terrible and food is not available for all. Dr Nicolette Cayman the CEO of the Child Allocation Bureau Foundation invents a cryobank and convinces the government to approve its mission. The mission was this: every household should give up the rest of the siblings leaving only one child. The children given to the government are said to be injected to sleep and kept in the cryobank to sleep peacefully till when the overpopulation issue has been solved. Some parents are afraid and refuse to give up their children but they're forced to.

One of such people is Terrace Settman, a grandfather who is unfortunate to have the life of septuplets who have just been brought to the world by his daughter and he doesn't know the father of the 7 girls. He is determined to keep the children despite the law of the government. He doubts the genuineness of Dr. Cayman's Foundation. True to his words he names the children after the days of the week since they're a total of 7 girls and are identical everywhere.

He trains them each and when they are at a certain age of about 6 years, he allows them to go out each on their days of the week under the identity of the same person "Karen Settman". He provides them a similar bracelet which allows him and the other girls to have a video review of how each of their days went and the role of the next girl to go out the next day.

The first tragedy strikes when Saturday – one of the septuplets sneaks out of the house to go skating on a day which wasn't hers. Meaning that two siblings were out on the same day. She falls while outside and loses her Pinky finger. For this reason, their grandfather chops off all their last fingers beginning from Monday. Ouch!

30 years later, their grandfather is no longer part of the movie. I assume he passed on. The girls now work at a bank. Crises fully arise when Monday goes to work on the day the girls were expecting a promotion and didn't come home. Her bracelet was untraceable and the girls were worried sick.

Tuesday goes to work determined to figure out the whereabouts of their eldest sister. At the office she realizes they got the promotion and through their secretary she's informed she went to her favourite bar, Harry's to celebrate. She informs the sisters of the progress and while on the move to gather more facts from Jerry who is reported to have been bothering Monday, Dr Cayman's right hand man and other security personnel takes her away and she loses connection with her sisters.

Wednesday steps out the next day without the usual duplicating dress and she doesn't go to their office. She goes straight to Jerry's. Jerry said he wanted the promotion in exchange for the secret he knows. Wednesday is shaken thinking their identity has been exposed but Jerry talks about a 407 - C funds transfer with Dr. Cayman. Before Wednesday could gather enough facts, Jerry is shot dead by a sniper leaving Wednesday to run for her life. She fights through a lot of the security personnels but is shot dead by Joe, Cayman's right hand man.

WHY I LOVE THE MOVIE.

It's amazing how the remaining 6 sisters are determined to find Monday despite the odds of each being killed as they go out on this mission.

All scenes were perfectly played out with full energy giving the audience a great show.

It turns out Monday was pregnant with twins and paid a huge amount to Dr Cayman's Foundation in order to keep her children alive. She fell in love with Adrian, one of the Bureau's officials. Adrian in return helped Saturday to fight to expose Dr Cayman and to find where Monday and Tuesday are kept and they succeeded.

Though painful, in the end all the sisters died fighting a good cause remaining only Tuesday, Saturday and Monday's prematured twins.

MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS
Friday and Saturday are my favourite characters. Friday died alongside security officials that came to destroy their hideout. She transferred all their data and pictures to Saturday's bracelet and set the building ablaze with herself as well. She did this to enable Saturday escape. This was the highest sacrifice – dying willingly.

I love Saturday too because she fought the last fight. Gave all her siblings justice by fighting to expose Dr Cayman and her fake mission of killing all the children she took into the cryobank rather than keeping them safe.

Dr. Cayman was sentenced to life imprisonment and she had no remorse. Her last speech had her saying the world has missed the life and the new world she would have built for them and they'll have no one making difficult decisions anymore.

The movie ends with Tuesday, Saturday and Arian watching Monday's babies in the incubator. Tuesday changes her name to Terry and Saturday maintains "Karen Settman". Alas! The world is free from the bondage of a one child system.

In summary: the movie seems to represent Dr Cayman as a political body just like in the world, who appears to be doing the government a favour and claim to be changing lives to win the heart of the masses but behind closed doors, is an hypocrite and has murdered hundreds of children through the cryobank.

I wrote this for my entry of the CineTV contest #15 but I had no idea the contest had expired. I already wrote it so I decided to post it as a movie review regardless. I put in so much work to let it go to waste.

Thank you for reading.

Seems like a good movie review. But the screenshots taken while watching the movie are plagiarism. I was using it at the beginning without knowing it.

avatar

I have no idea. You know there's no way to get images of the movie except from Google which isn't allowed because they're subject to copywrite.

avatar

This issue is a bit confusing because it is not possible to find posters and screenshots of movies on free image sharing sites!
In other reviews, links to the site where the pictures were taken are shared, but they are not free sharing sites and can be considered as plagiarism.

Frankly, I don't have a clear idea, so I stopped taking screenshots to avoid mistakes.

And you said "seems like a good movie review"... I don't understand. You read the review and you're unsure if it's good because why the word "seems"?
Let me know if it's bad so you could tell me where I didn't write well.

And please, what do I do with regards to the images? I can't make the post without a photo relating to the movie.

avatar

I don't have a clear idea about the pictures.
Maybe we should ask this on the cinetv discord channel!

The reason I'm not sure about the review is because I haven't seen the movie. It's good in writing, but I don't have a clear idea as I haven't watched it. Please don't get too caught up in the uncertainty out there, it's about me. :)

I understand your point of view now. I'll find the trailer and share a link then. I'm so confused right now.

Don't get confused just because of my thoughts!
