"narcissists are too occupied with themselves to notice others"

When you set the stage and the rules of the game, and then set out to play the game, all these while another is the referee. This is a movie for every adolescent who thinks he/she has a larger than life personality where everyone else plays second fiddle to them.

One of the most dangerous things that holds us back most times is our preoccupation with our own abilities and personality. We tend to hurt people along the way without giving it a second thought and even forget about them just as fast as we had offended the people.

Do Revenge is a high school drama about the main act Drea (Camila Mendes), her boyfriend Max (Austin Abrams), and her unknowing nemesis Eleanor/Nora (Maya Hawke). A summer beforehand, Drea with her perfected and made up personality had ruined Eleanor's life by falsely accusing her of trying to forcefully kiss her as a lesbian.

This had cost Eleanor her social life and she had set out for revenge on Drea. On the other hand, Max had just released Drea's nudes in school which caused quite a stir and ruined her reputation while almost costing her a place in Yale.

Unknowing to Drea she teamed up with Eleanor who told her story of how her life was ruined by a false alarm. The self indulging Drea had no idea that it was her that Eleanor was talking about and teamed up with her enemy in a bid for them to do each other's revenge. Drea was supposed to ruin Carissa's (Ava Capri) life while Eleanor will return the favour with Max.

Things took a sour turn when Drea eventually found out about Eleanor and how she's been played all along in her own game using her own rules.

The cast for this movie is quite fitting as it seems everyone knew their roles and how to interpret them perfectly without overdoing it. Especially Eleanor/Nora, it seemed like she was tailored for the role that even her physical appearance complimented the act perfectly.

The storyline is a breathe of fresh air from the general ones populating the movies space. The twists about Nora's real personality and the fact that they avoided the pitfall of making Drea and Nora fall for each other makes it a little bit refreshing.

The story arc also make it very smooth and intense, keeping you in anticipation of the next plot. The picture is modern and oozes juvenile elegance without it being too flashy. The dialogues were smooth and flowy without unnecessary conversations. Everyone seemed to go straight to the point without boring the viewer with unnecessary chatter.

The downside though is how Max as a high school student - even though he was from a rich family- was able to afford such flamboyance to be hosting the kind of parties he was hosting in the movie, with all the alcohol and drugs.

And can Netflix do a movie without a homosexual scene? I'm not against them in any way, but it's becoming a norm that whenever you start a movie and you see Netflix, you can be assured that there will be a homosexual scene.

Do Revenge is a very entertaining and fun movie with a lot to learn from as well. Life does not revolve around us and we should always pay attention to the people around us. Sometimes we do things that we think have no significance whatsoever just to satisfy our vanity, not knowing that we have ruined another person's life.

Karma will always bring our actions round back to us no matter how far we run, it is left for us to learn to treat everyone with mutual respect and love. At the same time, we also need to understand that no matter the weight of revenge we exercise, it can never help heal us. True healing comes from forgiveness. We should always endeavor to forgive others no matter what they did to us.

I'd rate Do Revenge an 8.5/10 and I'd recommend it for a good pastime if you have the time.
