Lo que comenzó como una joya y se quedó corto | Evil Dead Rise (Reseña | Opinión) [ES | EN]
Welcome back to my blog, guys! Today I bring you a post that I've been meaning to do for a while but hadn't deigned to do; in fact, I had planned to do it on video but due to my day to day obligations and my content creation outside of Hive I haven't had the time to square the recordings.
Today I'm going to review what could have been a masterpiece of horror cinema but ended up being like that classic McDonalds hamburger meme that advertising is one thing and the final product is another; it happened to my Mo @ladyunicorn and me when we saw this movie, because we already had the hype to a thousand by the fact that the protagonist was the actress who played Aslaug in Vikings (Alyssa Sutherland).
Both the trailer and the poster of the movie were very impressive and eye-catching, it seemed to be a classic exorcism and demon movie, but it ended up being something else entirely.

El día de hoy les traigo un post que quería hacer hace un tiempo pero que no me había dignado a hacer; de hecho, tenía pensado hacerlo en vídeo pero por temas de las obligaciones de mi día a día y mi creación de contenido fuera de Hive no he tenido el tiempo para cuadrar las grabaciones.
Hoy voy a hacer una reseña sobre lo que pudo haber sido una obra maestra del cine de terror pero terminó siendo como ese clásico meme de las hamburguesas de McDonalds de que la publicidad es una cosa y el producto final es otra; nos pasó a mi Mo @ladyunicorn y a mí cuando vimos esta película, porque ya teníamos el hype a mil por el hecho de que la protagonista fuera la actríz que interpretó a Aslaug en Vikingos (Alyssa Sutherland).
Tanto el tráiler como el poster de la película eran muy impresionantes y llamativos, parecía ser una película de exorcismos y demonios clásicos, pero terminó siendo otra cosa totalmente distinta.
La Trama
The plot is simple and yet it has some strange plot holes, I mean, it's totally understandable what happens and it makes a lot of sense regarding the paranormal events, the problem is the objective of the possession; since, everything revolves around Danny, who gets some records with a recording of the Vatican with some curses impregnated in acetate discs and he, out of his curiosity and of course first pseudo-possession decides to take them and take it home.
This is where it gets strange, because in the first instance the first possession should have happened in him, but ended up happening in his mother, which had a MAGISTRAL interpretation, in short I feel that was the only good part of the plot, that first encounter with the demon, which also do not know who he is and really that also left me a little confused.
From there on, the idea of a "demon jumping" from one body to another wasn't bad, but it ended up going from a horror movie to an action/horror movie, because then everything lost too much sense; what I must rescue from everything is that the final monster reminded me too much to the classic monsters of franchises like Silent Hill, with that part I give them positive points.
La trama es simple y sin embargo tiene algunos huecos argumentales extraños, o sea, es totalmente entendible lo que sucede y tiene mucho sentido con respecto a los sucesos paranormales, el problema es el objetivo de la posesión; ya que, todo gira en torno a Danny, que consigue unos discos con una grabación del Vaticano con unas maldiciones impregnadas en discos de acetato y él, por su curiosidad y por supuesto primera pseudo-posesión decide tomarlas y llevarla a casa.
Aquí es donde la cosa se pone extraña, porque en primera instancia la primera posesión debería haber sucedido en él, pero terminó sucediendo en su madre, la cuál, tuvo una interpretación MAGISTRAL, en definitiva siento que esa fue la única buena parte de la trama, ese primer encuentro con el demonio, el cuál tampoco sabemos quién es y realmente eso también me dejó algo confundido.
De ahí en adelante, la idea de un "demonio que salta" de un cuerpo a otro no estuvo mal, pero terminó pasando de una película de terror a una película de acción/horror, porque ya luego todo perdió demasiado sentido; lo que sí debo rescatar de todo es que el monstruo final me recordó demasiado a los clásicos monstruos de franquicias como Silent Hill, con esa parte les doy puntos positivos.
Lo que pudo ser y no fue
I feel that the plot lacked strength, it went from being an epic work at the beginning of the film with respect to the topic of horror to be a kind of action movie with gore elements, the repetitive theme of the possession that "bounces" between characters reached a point that got too tired because it was already too predictable and the ending was left open to tell us that possibly a second film will come and I definitely do not know, I do not feel that I really want to see a sequel to this first installment.
The craziest thing of all, is that they used an epic resource to tell the story from front to back because the beginning is confusing until the whole movie gives you the context of what happened to get us to the event of the first girl who commits suicide in the lake, that part would have been much better if they had used better resources.
At the level of effects and so on I give it a very good appreciation because it does have very well elaborated CGI elements, an exaggeratedly powerful makeup and good screamers, but I feel that the plot lacked a lot so that it could be a little more attractive to the viewer; the funny thing is that I am a moviegoer who has tastes that are not so refined, so really me criticizing this movie implies that there really were things that did not do anything right.
Siento que le faltó fuerza al argumento, pasó de ser una obra épica al inicio de la película con respecto al tópico de terror a ser una especie de película de acción con elementos gore, lo repetitivo del tema de la poseción que "rebota" entre personajes llegó a un punto que cansaba demasiado porque ya era demasiado predecible y el final quedó abierto para decirnos que posiblemente venga una segunda película y definitivamente no sé, no siento que realmente quiera ver una secuela de esta primera entrega.
Lo más loco de todo, es que utilizaron un recurso épico de contar la historia de adelante hacia atrás porque el inicio es confuso hasta que en toda la película te dan el contexto de qué fue lo que sucedió para que llegáramos al suceso de la primera chica que se suicida en el lago, esa parte habría sido mucho mejor si hubieran utilizado mejor los recursos.
A nivel de efectos y demás le doy una muy buena apreciación porque sí tiene elementos de CGI muy bien elaborados, un maquillaje exageradamente potente y buenos screamers, pero siento que al argumento le faltó mucho para que pudiera ser un poco más atractiva para el espectador; lo gracioso es que yo soy un cinéfilo que tiene gustos que no son tan refinados, así que realmente el yo criticar esta película implica que de verdad hubo cosas que no hicieron nada bien.

There are franchises that you have to be careful when making a Live Action, because it has always been known that video games are very difficult to adapt to the big screen, I think the only adaptation that I really liked is the Silent Hill franchise, because they really stuck to the essence and mystique of the video game and the result was too epic, but in this case, I think they fell a little short.

Hay franquicias que hay que tener cuidado cuando se les hace un Live Action, porque siempre se ha sabido que los videojuegos son muy difíciles de adaptar a la pantalla grande, creo que la única adaptación que verdaderamente me ha gustado es la de la franquicia Silent Hill, porque de verdad que se apegaron a la esencia y la mística del videojuego y fue demasiado épico el resultado, pero en este caso, creo que se quedaron un poco cortos.

Sólo voy a decir que me decepcionó tanto y le vi tanta poca lógica en comparación con otras películas de terror que tratan sobre el tema de posesión demoniaca que yo no terminé de verla. Para mí fue un sin sentido desde que inició y sangre por todos lados de forma innecesaria. Gracias a Dios no fui a la única que no le gustó, excelente post!
Honestamente no he visto la película, igual la veré para sacar mis propias conclusiones y es primera vez que veo una reseña de ella y que no pinte bien, es chimbo pero bueno porque al ver trailer me emocioné 🙁. Saludos ✨

Hola @dimeilaz esta peli de verdad que me dejó altos y bajos, porque hubo cosas que me gustaron mucho y otras muy absurdas, sobre todo al final y el tema de la familia que realmente ni sentimos.
De todos modos me deja escenas que no olvidaré nunca, como todo lo que pasó o que vimos a través del ojo mágico de la puerta, la posesión en el ascensor y otras más, que guardaré por siempre, y por supuesto la actuación de Alyssa, que todos amamos
