Hello friends. I hope you are well and are enjoying a nice weekend. This day I want to talk to you about a movie that I saw recently, and I must confess it was a little strange, but it is still interesting for that reason. This is called “The Assessment” this movie was released in the year 2024 and is of the genre science fiction, drama and I feel that also psychological horror. It has the performances of the great actresses Elisabeth Olsen and Alicia Vikander. It is a movie that lasts almost 2 hours and if you like this type of genre it will surely be to your liking as long as you have patience and do not get bored by the slowness.

We move to a future where it is a privilege to have a child, all this is controlled by people of power, this without forgetting that those who wish to have a child must be those who contribute something to society or have an important position of growth in it.

This is how we go to a couple's house, they live in a kind of dome, it is a beach that has a house that is both futuristic and a little vintage. The characters of these couples are named Mia (Elisabeth Olsen) and her husband Aaryan (Himesh Patel). Two great scientists, Mia for her part is dedicated to plant biology.

Both wish from their heart to have a baby, but this is not as easy as wishing, he has to be subjected to a very rigorous evaluation by a government agent named Virginia (Alicia Vikander), I have to confess that this performance of her was masterful, it is one of the best I've seen, although she is very passionate in her works, around there she was also very good in the Danish Girl.

Yes, the movie gets a bit strange from the moment this woman arrives home, her way of evaluating this couple is a bit harsh and shady as she subjects them to things very out of the ordinary and tests their patience. Here we can see that this couple is willing to do anything to be approved. Virginia will make the next 7 days the most complicated of the whole story for this couple. She puts them through a series of tests, dialogues and interrogations where they undoubtedly push these people to the limit, they still struggle to try to comply and stay out of the way as they know that everything is crucial for him to be approved or not.

There are things that in the end do not work out as desired, very uncomfortable situations manifest themselves with Virginia and it is where this whole story takes an unexpected turn, as Virginia is willing to fulfill to the letter her job or mission, a woman who is totally cold but hides a very sad past. This at the end marks a before and after that will leave you very thoughtful. I feel that there is a lot of sadness in this film and at the same time beauty.

Is it slow? Well yes, I must confess, I also think it is not a movie that is for everyone. I feel that it is special, it has a very unique scenography, it shows the rawness of what may happen to us in hundreds of years.

A film that shows the real decision of what it is like to love or really want to have a baby in a world where there are decisions that are not yours to make. I feel it leaves a unique message and leaves you pondering. have you seen it? I'll read you in the comments.
