Akaza’s backstory really broke my heart, easily one of the best written characters. Ufotable did an amazing job with the animation as always.

Yeah it is! There is also in the anime heart touching stories from humans before turning into demons. Like the brothers Gyutaro and Daki . They were poor and had tragic lives . I think it was on season 2.
